Just like Emery -- not my favorite goalie BY FAR, but for the exposure he got the nhl in the US, he was awesome.

like avery said before, the NHL doesnt have any real characters. people relate to characters. movie stars date characters. movie stars are on TV. TV appeals to people. so to get people to watch the NHL, they need to have characters.

I dont recall him doing anything worthy of a suspension this season...That game him and Ott were running around everywhere was stupid and hectic but nothing worthy of a suspension. But I could be mistaken.

During dallas's trip to new York between periods avery came out of the dressing room and got into a screaming match with a tsn reporter, once it got more heated avery started saying shit about the reporters wife and his family which was both recorded and documented

Then after the Boston game where avery and ott were playing a disgusting game to begin with avery got ejected for unsportsmanlike conduct, when he got ejected he got into another telling match with the Boston training staff which ended up avery VS a fan in the stands which lead to avery verbally attacking the fans girlfriend with supposidely really bad insults, which prompted Boston to file a full report on the incident with the league.

Ppl might like to think he's good for the game or that he's "smart" but clearly he's got a bigger mouth then brain and has potentially destroyed his career as well as put Brett hull on very thin ice

Oh, and another testiment to his character, when he played for LA bob Mackenzie said that the kings were pretty much forced to trade him because he was continuously making fun of dustin brown who has a speach impediment as well as a lisp and bob said from what he had heard the taunting had become so bad brown was becoming devestated.

Yeah, there's a difference between being a "character" and being an "asshole". The former knows where to draw the line. The latter is Avery.

On another side note anybody read about the cancelled Canucks autograph signing at Popeyes. Started a debate whether people should pay to get an autograph. LOL the dude who organzied it was this nammer dude trying to charge a hefty amount. The president of Westcoast Autographs, Thanh Nguyen, suggests that the going rate for an autograph -- $30 for a small item like a puck or photo, $40 for a large item such as a jersey or stick -- is justified.
