schnieder can't take the blame on 2 of the avs goals. the one off of mitchel and o'brien. lucky bounces for the av's really. this is where inexperience comes into play. the tying goal and smyths goals were let in the same area. and the av's almost scored under his right arm later on the game. give the av's credit for shooting into the same area and same as the s/o. i'll bet that after the first goal, the av's already knew schnieders weakness, thus pulling off the exact same moves and scored both times. we can't assume luongo would've stopped those goals, since he got owned during the last s/o both teams were in.

Harvey Specter 12-07-2008 09:59 PM

The Avs are the biggest fucking flukes around. Their win vs the Oilers a few weeks back is a prime example of how awful this team really is. They're game plan is play like shit the entire game and wait for a few lucky bounces to go in. I can honestly say that I don't even hate the Flames, Wild or Oilers as much as I hate the Avs.

6thGear. 12-07-2008 10:11 PM

despite the loss and unlucky bounces, im not all that upset. the canucks played a good game, kept going on when they were both down and leading the game. its not like they weren't scoring or came out flat or anything like that. good move on vignuealt at the end of the game interview to keep schnieders confidence up by saying he was happy with his play.

Harvey Specter 12-07-2008 10:27 PM

Yeah, can't really blame Schneider. I actually like him a lot and I see great potential for him as a starter.

Roberto Luongo has fingers crossed he could be back Saturday
For the first time, a schedule for Roberto Luongo's return is coming into focus. The Canucks have set a best case scenario time table which would see Luongo start Saturday in Edmonton. If it happens, it would be three weeks to the day that Luongo was injured in Pittsburgh. "Things have to keep progressing but it's possible. Hopefully, that will be a good day for me," Luongo said. "At the same time, I don't want to get ahead of myself and start thinking about that game too much because I know there's still a lot of improvement that has to be done. Right now, it's a matter of building it up" There's plenty of obstacles to get by this week to make it happen. The next one is Monday when Luongo is expected to join his team for at least part of its practice in Nashville.

"It's all been going really well," Luongo said. "It's been more than two weeks now. Hopefully, I keep progressing in the right direction and everyone is going to see me back again really soon."

6thGear. 12-07-2008 10:46 PM

he just needs to keep his confidence up and learn from his mistakes from his experience. you can tell he was pissed at himself when he let the 3rd s/o goal in when he slammed the post with his stick. its only been 2 weeks since luongos been out?? is it me or does it seem longer than that?

goo3 12-07-2008 11:13 PM

briere came back early from a groin, now he's out 4-6

iPee 12-08-2008 12:41 AM

well I guess thats how detriot felt when we beat them, while they outplayed us most of the game if i remember correctly

damm that move by bernier near the dying seconds of regulation or OT was sick

does it seem like demitra is not trying as hard on the SO as he use to??
i remember when he was on the wild he killed lunogo a couple times with that move where he starts from the right then fakes the goalie.

the two times he jsut sorta starts from the side and shoots it and w/o much speed

I wanna see demitra bust out that move when he is in the wild more often

Pavol Demitra at 1:25 .. sweet move.. and a good shoot out!

hotjoint 12-08-2008 06:52 AM

Schneider got burnt nicely on all those s/o goals, they were pretty much athe same move. Good news about Luongo above

AzNightmare 12-08-2008 09:19 AM

Lol. Luongo's like Fuk my injury. I'm coming back. Because Schnieder and Sanford isn't holding the fort up.

Captain to the rescue!

I hate it when we cough up responsibility to just lacking luck. We lost 4 of our last 5.

i honestly dont want Lu to come back until he is ready, these groin injuries can go form bad to worse if its not rested properly...

6thGear. 12-08-2008 04:47 PM

a competitor like luongo, he's itching to play. but since this is his first major injury, and the history of early comebacks from groin injuries, lets hope luongo can heed team doctors advice

NY fans are ruthless...

Quote:

Rangers fans evoke Avery, get sloppy on Dion Phaneuf

Somewhere, Sean Avery is smiling this morning. Despite his six-game suspension for behavior detrimental to the NHL, his cloudy future with the Dallas Stars and the deluge of old stories about his shocking language, Avery learned two truths last night from Madison Square Garden: That he's still on the minds of New York Rangers fans, and that he's saddled Dion Phaneuf with perhaps a permanent taunt for the duration of his career --- or, at the very least, his relationship with Elisha Cuthbert.

Derek Felix of Battle of NY writes that Rangers fans chanted "sloppy seconds" after Phaneuf's name was announced as an assist on Jarome Iginla's eventual game-winner against New York last night. Felix believes it's a combination of razzing Phaneuf and protesting the NHL's suspension of the once-beloved former Rangers pest:

We bet the league must've loved the fans' reaction following the six-game suspension to Avery along with a mandated anger management course. Only those who never covered the sport would applaud such classic overreaction which is why it was fitting to hear the chant come up about Phaneuf's current squeeze Cuthbert.

A little over two minutes later, the NHL All-Star defenseman was guilty of an elbowing minor continuing to get the brunt of it with some fans even chanting, "Avery. Avery. Avery."

So is this now Dion's lot in life when playing in hostile arenas? Or will chanting "sloppy seconds" with Phaneuf in the building just be exclusive to the good fans who gave the world "Potvin Sucks!" and other chants?

Incidentally, that wasn't even the best bit of comedy to emerge from the MSG seats last night. Scotty Hockey reports that "during one of the four power plays that the Rangers blew, from someone in the section next to me: 'We need Plaxico on this team! At least you know he shoots!'" Awesome.

So now that they're done chanting about Phuthbert, will Rangers fans focus their vocal abilities on another target? Say, "Fire Renney?"

Hate it all you want. The team has been playing well. If we lost because we weren't trying, then fine. I find this year's team very exciting to watch. Anyway.........

+1

The last thing you want to see.

I hope Schneider works on the weak side or at least work on the poke check, LOL.

Was Sanford not 100% the last game? Although Schneider is promising, I feel more comfortable with Sanford in the nets.

Agreed. I remember before the season started, I said I don't care if our team doesn't end up with a great season record as long as it's exciting hockey. Sure as hell this season has been exciting (for the most part). I mean, come on, the team is actually showing some offensive flair.

Of course it's always dissapointing to see a team wilt away, but that's what happens when you have a great start. You set the bar high and you're bound for some dissapointment (unless you're currently rooting for the Sharks )

hotjoint 12-09-2008 10:14 AM
