as much as I hate Jagr, I'd LOVE to see what he could do with the twins. He did score 54 goals (123 pts!) only 2 years ago, I could see him putting up 40+ with the twins. Shanahan would also be very good imo.

Fuck it, lets sign Jagr, Shanahan, Sakic, Forsberg, Nolan, Fedorov, Selanne. Put together our own '97 allstar team.

b0unce. [?] 07-03-2008 07:32 PM

the thing is even if we get top draft picks, we'll fuck it up somehow

Razor Ramon HG 07-03-2008 07:35 PM

I really can't imagine them fucking up with the #1 draft pick unless they pick Tavares and he ends up being worse than speculated or has a bad injury (got to find someone to blame, right?) and vice versa if drafted with Hedman. I'm almost sure they'd draft Tavares from the looks of it currently.

Razor Ramon HG 07-03-2008 07:36 PM

Speaking of Nolan...

murd0c 07-03-2008 07:39 PM

I can't believe he didn't get mvp that year

7seven 07-03-2008 07:42 PM

Speaking as a Sabres fan, I think Gillis should get on the phone with Reiger ASAP for some forwards as both teams can help each other out. Theres not too much left out there in terms of UFAs and Gillis' best option to get forward help might be thru trading. Sabres have way too many forwards, especially RWs and desperately need a hard hitting stay at home D man. They lost the bidding on Orpik and are currently talking to Jason Smith, if Smith falls thru perhaps a Bieksa for one of the Sabres RWs not named Pominville would benefit both teams.

Sabres RW
Pominville
Bernier
Kotalik
Stafford
Afinogenov
Kaleta

On another Canuck related note, has anyone else been following the prospects camp? Grabner has put on a lot of muscle since last year and is about 185lbs, hes been training hard and aims to be at least 190lbs by training camp. If the Canucks can't bring in any UFA forwards maybe time to give Grabner a shot?

Fuck that. I'm a Canucks fan through-and-through, regardless of if they're having a top tier or bottom feeder year. I've gone to many games over the years that I knew they would lose, but went to cheer 'em on regardless.

where do you put him though? the 3rd and 4th lines are pretty much full with 3-4 extra's to fill in spots

Top 10 Consequences of the Markus Naslund Departure

It’s been a busy afternoon in the world of the Vancouver Canucks. It started with news that the team’s captain had signed elsewhere and ended with us biting Dave Letterman. Pratt would be proud.

Here are the top 10 consequences of the Canucks’ captain leaving town:

No. 10: Panic. Pure, unadulterated panic.

No. 9: YouTube flooded with Markus Naslund tributes using Sarah McLachlan's "I Will Remember You."

No. 8: YouTube flooded with Markus Naslund tributes, now with that brutal Green Day song.

No. 7: Mats Sundin emails agent JP Barry: "Counter with $30 million."

No. 6: Brendan Morrison interviewed, claims he's never heard of the term "hometown discount.”

No. 5: Canucks media guy TC Carling calls the KB. Press passes? Nah, we’ll pass.

No. 4: Alain Vigneault throws book "Run ‘n’ Gun Hockey for Dummies" into fire.

No. 3: Jeff Finger comments on the Naslund contract: "It's a little pricey."

No. 2: Team slogan officially changed from "We are all Canucks" to "Who wants to be a Canuck?"

No. 1: Dave Nonis, dead of laughter. He was 42.
Gold!

You don't put a goal scoring sniper on the 3rd and 4th lines.

Grabner is a fast skating sniper and should be put on the 1st/2nd line. Putting him anywhere else is like asking Krajicek to play a stay at home defenseman role.

canucks should resign Brad Isbister

AX.Deadpool 07-03-2008 08:17 PM

I dont know about you guys, but when my #1 team, starts going down the toilet,
it agitates me, and makes me feel like every things hopeless. Maybe cause, just 2 seasons ago, we were in the playoffs, and it was such a memorable high point..

Time to just sit back until october and see what MG does by then.

Hordichuk Vs. Stortini. Got something to look forward to.

svelt 07-03-2008 08:17 PM

and jaarko ruutu

hi5-ive 07-03-2008 08:24 PM

Because Kesler plays with fire. There's a difference.

Ronin 07-03-2008 08:34 PM

Bye Nazzy. Thanks for being part of our team.

b0unce. [?] 07-03-2008 08:34 PM

trade to get lombardi?

stastny?
trade for nash? joel lundqvist? Dustin Brown? frolov? these ppl signed?

shawn79 07-03-2008 08:38 PM

are fans going to see naslund same way as bure?

Anyways Bure was always top 5 highest paid player in the NHL through out his career. Even he didnt give a shit about charity which Vancouver Canucks are all about CHARITY AND MONEY

suprasian 07-03-2008 08:40 PM

there's still some decent offensive talent out there
no tier 1 players for sure but some that may give the canucks possibly 3 lines that can score.... get a finisher for the sedins (shanny maybe or recchi), sign a 1A line to compliment the sedin line... IE demitra, nagy and vyborny? and things dont look so bad... yea its not the blockbuster we all have envisioned but we could possibly have as our lines
sedin sedin recchi/ shanny (shanny is a monster on the pp too)
nagy demitra vyborny/bochenski/recchi/shanny
kesler burrows raymond
johnson wellwood hordichuk/pyatt

extras: cowan pettinger

if i remember the positions rite then u know the team doesnt look too bleek
