Yeah, that look on Naslund's face during the last game of the regular season when the fans were saluting Linden, he did not look like a happy camper...

well obviously I know that there is a difference, I'm simply making an alternate route we possibly could go considering the landscape of the free agent market. Would we want to sign Sundin and risk Messier 2.0 or develop young guys while suffering a little? I also made this comment because I've heard from friends that do watch hockey that the Tavares guy is good, and that we could get him if we get the number 1 pick. HOWEVER, when I wrote the comment I didn't know NHL draft has a lottery, so the whole idea effectively has gone to shit! LOL.....now I'm worried.....

p.s. watch Naslund score like a hatrick on us when he makes a return to play the Canucks lol

doubledouble 07-03-2008 03:30 PM

wouldnt it be sweet if Canucks face the Rangers in the stanley cup finals! That would be EPIC

shawn79 07-03-2008 03:32 PM

stamkos is better than tavares from scouts

SumAznGuy 07-03-2008 03:33 PM

Before Gilles was hired as GM, it was mentioined that this league is like the Men's club. Gilles is the rookie and no one will give him the time of day, and it looks like it is happening.

For what? A bag of pucks and sticks? The pool for signable players is getting thiner and thiner. Unless they can sign guy off the street, aka me, there is not much talent left.

Ch28 07-03-2008 03:51 PM

Straka signed a deal overseas

b0unce. [?] 07-03-2008 03:55 PM

most of those ufa's are dman

sigh, im not that pissed that nazzy left. im more worried that at least when he was here, thats still more offence than we have atm...

imo pull up the farm boys and let em play, might as well since Gillis isnt gonna sign anyone apparently.
at least tampa and oils are TRYING to rebuild and build a cup contending team.

Ch28 07-03-2008 03:55 PM

lol...Canucks are going to be included in every rumor now because we could use any player that can score

keitaro 07-03-2008 03:58 PM

i wonder if we can get sakic for a good deal. He brings veteranship to the team, as well as leadership. Plus let him play in his old town again. Last season he came back from injury and kicked some ass.

b0unce. [?] 07-03-2008 03:59 PM

you look at every team they have more than one superstar...
most of our forwards are rookies lol

becha kesler, ohlund, daniel sedin, or mitchell will be captain.. those are my guesses

AzNightmare 07-03-2008 04:15 PM

Kesler for captain? LOL. He's still a noob. Mitchell is the only real candidate. I'll rather give it to Bieksa over ohlund or sedin. I'm not sure about ohlund, but sedin doesn't seem like a guy I could take seriously in a locker room. Probably because I've never seen him hammer someone into the glass when things weren't going his way.

Ohlund should get it just based on the fact that he's been with the Canucks since 94

RRxtar 07-03-2008 04:26 PM

mitchel or ohlund. i think ohlund is a little too soft spoken tho. mitchel is the perfect captain.

the thing that bothers me about naslund is how he always said "I will retire a canuck" and then he goes and signs not just a 1 but a 2 year deal. you cant tell me the canucks didnt offer him $4m to stay either.

we're so fucked

Roach 07-03-2008 04:26 PM

Of the UFA's listed, I would like to see Brendan Shanahan here to play alongside the Sedins.

However, I think they would still need to pick up a couple of more names off that list to assemble another line with some threat of scoring.

I heard through CKNW that Naslund was never made an offer by the Canucks.

Furthermore, he went on to say that his decision on what team to choose was based on which team he thought is a contender. Hence, he chose the Rangers.

So much for moving home.

stuff99 07-03-2008 04:41 PM

why would u guys want kesler to be a captain. hes as soft spoken as naslund

That's never gonna happen. Sakic started his carrer in the Nordiques/Avs franchise and chances are he's gonna finish it with those teams. I also heard that he doesn't want to play for Vancouver because of all the hype and pressure of him to do well being the hometown boy will make him fail.

Apparently Ohlund gave up the C some years back so Naslund could have it because he didn't think he was spoken enough. I remember hearing somewhere that Ohlund was gonna get it, but i think Mitchel is better cuz he's more outspoken.

well how i thought of it, at the rate which we are going, we might as well cause we can't get anyone else to sign with the canucks but past players and drag them out of retirement, lol...

lol

speaking of Luongo.. you gotta be wondering what is going thru his head.. I mean his team is falling apart in front of him.

He left Florida for a reason.

The Canucks are the new Florida Panthers. Sorry Lu!:haha:

Lets put all our Eggs on Sundin and POssibly signing Jagr. Sakic will not play for Vancouver

Harvey Specter 07-03-2008 05:30 PM

Jagr and Sundin, that could be a lethal combo.
