some stats about sundin. 1305g 555g 766a 1321p 1065pim. he was point-per-game last yr. i don't think he's past his prime yet

!Nhan 07-01-2008 11:24 PM

I honestly have to say to all those wishing Bert and Nazzy to come back together, to just shut up. Honestly as someone pointed out before, they're past their prime and it's time for a new face on this team. It's the only way to get anywhere in the next season. If we resign Naslund and Bert again what's gonna happen to our team? Are we gonna see Bert taking dumbass penalties and Nazzy underacheiving again? I've been a nucks fan for as long as I've watched hockey and to be honest IT WON'T WORK!

So please stop hoping to see those guys back in a nucks jersey if you want this team to go far.

stuff99 07-01-2008 11:28 PM

I wouldnt mind them resigning Naslund if we get Sundin but not Bert

shawn79 07-01-2008 11:38 PM

so is this how our team going to look like for 2008/2009?

sedin sedin ?
raymond wellwood pyatt
burrows kesler pettengier
hordichuk johnson brown/cowen

mitchell bieksa
ohlund salo
edler krajichek

luongo
?

AzNightmare 07-01-2008 11:46 PM

is 10M really worth it for Sundin? or is Gillis getting desparate and feeling the pressure to pull the trigger?

cspec 07-01-2008 11:54 PM

i think pretty much most gm's in the leage hate gillis with a passion

hes getting desparate if sundin and hossa is sign he will pretty much get flamed for doing nothing with 20 mill cap on him to spend.

Remember naslund demitra jagr forsberg sakic are still out there

Rumor says if oilers cannot sign hossa they will go after jagr

stuff99 07-02-2008 12:05 AM

we should give the same offer to sakic that we gave sundin

and make a play for shanny too

he wouldnt be too bad playing with the sedins.

And if they let that affect their dealings on behalf of their teams, they'll be out of a job pretty damn quick.

I'd rather have Sundin at $10M / 2 years than Hossa at $8-9M / 6-7 years

I'm all for locking in great players to long term contracts but Hossa (imo) isn't near the level that a Crosby or Ovechkin is.

at the same time though, i believe i heard somethin wayyy back on team1040 that Gillis has already made enemies with some GMs/owners around the league for his impulsive decisions for clients

i believe this had something to do with Kevin Lowe..dont rmb

For the guys that missed.

Gillis was being aggressive on 1st day for Free agents. But unlikely Tampa, we got nothing so far.

He did not break any rules on offering David Backes, professionalism > friendship.

St.Louis matched it right away.

Flyers 2 season ago offered Kesler and we matched it.
Oilers offered ridiculous amount to Penner, thats what ticked Brian Burke off

Ikkaku 07-02-2008 12:27 AM

well .. at least for now, we have a 4th line that will be pretty exciting to watch and won't always be running away from trouble :lol

And again, if ANY GM lets a deal go down the toilet because he personally dislikes the GM who's trying to deal with him, he won't last long in this league.

Kevin Lowe has been around long enough to know not to let personal feelings interfere with business.

stuff99 07-02-2008 12:38 AM

Gillis represented Nylander who agreed to sign with the Oilers last year only to have signed with the Caps. Lowe was ready for a presser and didnt pursue other ufas cause they thought they had nylander only to find out he signed with the caps via the media.

ouch.

so yah he hates gillis.

he didnt make friends with the blues today either

Tim Budong 07-02-2008 12:44 AM

blue matched the offer
at least they did it quick, so we wouldnt have till wait to tuesday becuz then the canucks would have commited the dollars backes was offered..and tat money would be frozen up to reject any other options

Makes you assume that John Davidson isn't mad at Gillis because he matched it right away. I know if I was a GM and some douchebag GM sent a crazy offer sheet to one of my players, I'd be sure to wait the full 7 days before giving notice as to whether I'll match or decline.
