Tier I
Spending* <$1,000
= Price** + $35 admin fee + Tier 1 fee currently set as $100.00

Tier II
Spending* $1,001 - $1200
= Price** + $35 admin fee + Tier 2 fee currently set at $75.00

Tier III
Spending* $1,201 - $1,500
= Price** + $35 admin fee

Tier IV (Note: this is a new Tier. The old Tier 3 was split into 2 seperate levels)
Spending* $1,501 - $2,500
= Price**, No admin fee

Tier V
Spending* > $2,500
= Price**, No admin fee, up to $25 discount based on the selected handset (the only time you wouldn't get $25 off is if that puts the price < $0)

OK question, so can I still use BBM when I'm out of the country? Or is that additional data?

So is that spending amount per year including the phone? Or just from monthly phone bill?

One would hope that's for a year LOLLL

I believe thats additional data because you'd be using a different carrier's network

they just keep track of it. not how much u spend a yr. just how much u actually paid.

Wait, what? That doesn't make sense. Spent = paid, no?

!Shuya80 11-21-2008 08:37 PM

they dun keep track of how much u pay in bills a yr...they count IN TOTAL how much you've paid in bills. hope that clears it up

btw 20 bucks for unlimited email plan and caller id, enhanced voicemail, 10000 sent text msg. its 30 bucks but their giving u 10 bucks off. has to be on a 3yr though. and only avaliable for BBs obviously

As in total since the start of your service with Rogers, as in since the dawn of time? I get it. :)

When you connect to a wireless router does it automatically override the network?

I'm pretty sure once the wifi logo turns white it jumps to wifi (assuming whatever program you are using supports wifi). I had a really slow 3g issue so I turned on wifi and everything was fine once the logo turned white.

Even doing normal browsing i notice a speed increase once wifi connects.

As for traveling with the Bold:

I came back from Vegas not too long ago and I noticed that wifi doesn't work when data services are disabled. I didn't bother with using any data while roaming but I think it's somewhere around 5 cents per KB. May not seem like much, but it'll add up real quick if you aren't careful.

I also had really bad battery life while roaming. The battery wouldn't even last 12 hours on standby. I was on AT&T and even tried switching to 2G only and it made no difference.

edit: Bolds were everywhere in Vegas lol

edit2: Found this on the Rogers website regarding roaming email + data usage.

"††Unlimited E-mail on BlackBerry includes unlimited email when using your BlackBerry on the Rogers wireless network. Standard roaming rate is billed at 3¢ per kb in the United States and other countries. Customers with Unlimited E-mail on a BlackBerry plan will be billed at only $0.006 per kb while roaming in the USA, Puerto Rico or the U.S. Virgin islands."

"U.S. roaming is $0.006 per KB and international roaming is $0.03 per KB when you subscribe to a Data plan. If you subscribe to a Flex rate data plan, the U. S. roaming is $3 per MB and international roaming is $0.03 per KB". If you subscribe to unlimited on-device browsing rate, both the U. S. roaming and international roaming is $0.03 per KB.

Outside of North America data usage is rounded up to the next 20KB."

cspec 11-22-2008 01:25 AM

is the $30 6gb data plan included in the flex rate?

ef8 11-22-2008 01:54 AM

Nope. The flex data plans are completely different. They don't have a set amount of data per month.

cspec 11-22-2008 08:30 AM

^ Thanks!

Just got my BOLD!

got a question:

when I loaded an episode of Sarah Connor Chronicles in avi format onto a microSD card, and tried to play it, the phone has trouble playing it. The video is choppy and after a couple seconds the audio becomes unsynchronized as a result.

Would I be able to correct that with a higher speed class MicroSD card?

jerche 11-24-2008 01:48 AM

so apparently it's selling for 99.99 now for a hup with a data plan when i called yesterday...

what you guys think of the $45 bb plan? the one with 500mb data usage...is it enough?

Depends on the video's encoding. If it's not transcoded for viewing on a mobile device (i.e. lower quality, size), than it's not gonna be that enjoyable.

And Chronicles FTW!!! :D

500MB is plenty on a BB. I was really trying to rack up data last month just to see how much I could use. I was pretty disappointed :D.

I managed to use 351MB. No tethering.

There's no way you'll get even close to 500MB unless you tether.

Gh0stRider 11-24-2008 04:35 PM

^^ 351MB? damn. I was only able to rack up 59MB

What about everyone else? How much data are you racking up?

TirelessTongue 11-24-2008 04:39 PM

Around 300. Hardly look at videos though, just email, Web browsing, MSN, AIM, and YM.

it resets *usually to level 1* if u do an upgrade or change your plan (happens on and off) or do a transfer of responsibility. bottom line...any changes you make...ask if it affects your upgrade eligibility and discount.

really? Mine's through a hardware upgrade and it arrived in 4 days...

I got my Bold without signing up for a data package. I'm constantly around wifi at work and home so I didn't bother with data.

Rogers agreed to block data access so I never get charged in case I accidentally access it. (The block failed once and they agreed to reverse the charges, and put on another block)

To be sure, I set my phone to 2G.

However, when I'm connected to wifi, I am not able to access the browser for internet. Even though the screen says I'm connected on wifi, when I try to get into browser, it says "You are not currently in an area that can handle data communication. As a result, the browser cannot retrieve any Web pages."

Anybody knows why? Do I have to set my phone back to 3G?

I experienced the wifi issue when I was in Vegas. Wifi doesn't work when data service is disabled. I've read that if you enable data, then enable wifi and wait until it connects, then disabling data is a trick around it.

Since you have data disabled on rogers' end, I don't know if the trick will work.
