There's a ton of places on Ebay that will do it. Just pick the cheapest one you can find on eBay. Or, if you've been with your provider long enough, just call them and tell them you're going out of town and would like to try unlock the phone to use in another country. Sometimes they'll unlock it for you if you've been with them long enough.

I'm running .167 and I've got MAJOR memory leakage. In less than 2 days I'm probably down to 4.x mb of free app space

I just restarted this morning and came back with about 35mb, in about an hour of doing absolutely NOTHING I'm down to 33.5mb

i am trying out the curve 8900 right now and the free memory is 121MB at the moment.....i am still deciding if i should keep this or the bold.....the bold has 3g but for some reason EDGE on the curve is faster than 3g on the bold.......

is there a way to hide pictures/folders? I have some wallpapers that my gf shouldn't be seeing, hehe ;)

I'm having the same problem the people are having there. I try hiding a picture/folder and it takes me back to the menu screen.

edit: i got hiding pictures to work. Still figuring out how to hide folders/videos

I just updated my bold from .167 to .210 and there is NOTICABLE difference with browser speeds just on EDGE

I cant imagine how fast 3G would be:D

I guess i need to update the firmware of my bold then......i hope it helps because 3g has not been that fast for me .....

Is anyone having a phonebook issue with the bold..

like when you start typing someones name from the home screen, it simply can't find it? like if I try to find Mina, I type m i n a, and it won't even bring up any M's. but if I type D e e her name comes up. annoying.

does it do the same on the phone screen? press the green phone button and type a name in there.

Go to \Program Files\Common Files\Research in Motion\AppLoader
The Vendor.xml file should be at the very bottom, at least it was for me

I was searching around on crackberry forums, alot of ppl like .185, however there are equal amounts of ppl that also like .190 or .210

Using .190 right now. It's sluggish at times. I've heard that 215 has problems with WiFi. Haven't tested 210 yet, although it seems a lot of people seem to be doing OK with 210. 190 I think is the latest "non beta" firmware version.

What version of the desktop manager do u need to be running in order to download the OS to your computer? Because after the 45 min download last night I go to open the file and I get an error. I was using bb 4.2 but I will try it with a newer version today.

No need. :) You can download it from the Blackberry site. Go here and you can get the 190 firmware as well as the desktop manager software.

the weirdest thing just happened to me
i just checked my bold and all of a sudden my bb messenger and my msn messenger in my instant messaging folder is missing!!!
also my 'messages' icon!!

i dont remember deleting them =S
told my friend to try to bb msg me and it says that i'm 'unreachable'
i checked if i accidentally hid my icons but i didn't..

did this happen to anyone before??
please dnt tell me i have a virus :S


EDIT: turned the phone off and took the battery out and now my icons are back...boy, did i have a scare..but i still had no idea wtf just happened :S

And regards to the 8900 EDGE... It's supposed to be the fastest EDGE possible, or according to testers.

A reason your bold might be slow, to whoever that posted it, is that you may have javascript on. There is seriously no way in hell that EDGE is faster than 3G. That's like saying dial-up is faster than cable. Possible if you have a really shitty 3G connection...
