I should mention, even though there's still no tabbed browsing, the browser is rendering a LOT faster than it used to--google news is rendering in under 2 seconds whereas before itw as being all finicky and bitchy.

Also: the ONLY ONE TINY LITTLE THING I wish they'd include is an FM tuner. I miss listening to The Fox while I'm on the way to work on the loser cruiser.

So my bold's trackball does not want to scroll right at all

It can do left, up and down.

For some reason I can scroll right when I'm in the setup menu.

Any fix for this?

Yes. Take a moist kitchen towel or something thin like a t shirt and rigorously rub your trackball untill the ball is free. I wouldnt recommend using papertowel because the fibers from the towel might get into the trackball.

So I just downloaded the OS5.0 to my desktop. Now do I simply use my DM apploader? i've never done this before.

Should I back up all my stuff before I do this?

I've never done the firmware updates for a BB but you always make a backup of your phone before updating anything.

I did a full scheduled backup of my berry before I even downloaded OS5 just in case.

Once you've installed OS5, delete the vendor.xml file.

When I installed OS5 originally, it told me to restart. Once I restarted, it removed my ability to update to 5.0. You may find that not restarting your computer before the update might help.

I tried doing it through the DM, but it didn't like that. I had to manually use the apploader (located in the same folder as vendor.xml). It did everything that the DM apploader does, but it was just a separate program. Follow the instructions, leave your berry the fuck alone, and voila! OS5 should be installed on your beautiful berry.

Is it just me or when you guys use apploader to backup and install it doesnt save my friggen profile settings. I spend like 15 mins each time configuring each vibration/tone setting and setting up Berrybuzz for colour LED notifications. Only to find out a week later .301 Official dropps and i have to redo it all over again. Does updating through DM back up differently?

you're using it for the wrong reasons then.

personally, i don't know why high school kids and people who don't even use e-mail have a blackberry. i have 5 e-mail accounts on my BB and sync it with my outlook calendar and it keeps me really organized.

Just a quick question about blackberries... Is there any way to access windows live messenger and/or bbm on blackberries using wifi and not on a data plan?

no because bbm uses bis and u need a data plan

HELP! I cant update 5.0.0.238 for some reason. I downloaded it and installed it. I deleted the vendor.xml file but when I opened up apploader it doesnt even detect the new update. Apploader tells me theres no updates need or something. any ideas? thanks!

Just try running loader.exe that's in the same directory as your vendor.xml. That should update it correctly.

i updated mine to os 5 with my friend yesterday (dl-ed from the link that someone had posted up on here earlier)
mine is working just fine
hers was working fine until she charged it last night before going to bed and when she woke up this morning it no longer turns on!!
when she pulls the battery and puts it back the red light flashes for a few seconds,
and also when she connects it to the computer until she starts apploader
any help????

Upgraded to 5.0 as well. no major problems yet.

As for compatibility issues, the first time start up wizard will crash if I don't close it, and Viigo crashes every time I try to start it. Anyone else experience this or have a work around for Viigo? I downloaded the latest from the app store.

i dont think viigo is working on 5.0, u might need to downgrade back to 4.6

Yeah, I'm guessing they haven't made a 5.0 version of viigo. I want to report better battery life, but it's entireply possible that's just down to lower useage from not having my apps. You know dev teams; if we're lucky they'll have a 5.0 compatible version by the time 5.0 officially launches. If not, we might just end up with a 'coming soon'. Kind of sucks; it's better for local news than google.

Does the bb bold or 8900 allow all songs to be used as ringtones, or is there a lock set on those?

*I have the bb 8300 curve and I can use any ringtone I want without converting.

Also, is anyone here using just the $15 bb data plan for emails and bbm?
