Its not Gorilla Glass, but it is olephobic. I bought an SPG Ultra Silke with screen protector for 20$ online. |
Can't wait to see this on the rogers website tommorow i'll be calling them bright and early. |
friend just picked up Nexus S for 425 at koodo no tab..find one with newbs and score HAHA |
Ok well I wanna save myself 75$ and use up my Best Buy credit. Mind as well return my Telus NS and get the Koodo. Whats the best way to back up? Make a rom backup using nandroid and then Titanium Backup for apps? Will it save all my widgets and settings in CM7 too? |
aight. to those who have the phone. quick review! |

only a select few carriers getting this? Rogers, Telus and mobilicity? |
Every carrier is getting this phone |
My NS after 1 week's worth of tinkering: http://i53.tinypic.com/2w6x93q.png Mods: -CyanogenMod 7 Latest Stable -XXKB3 GRI54 radio to replace the XXKB1 GRI40 radio from CM7 (685 kB/s vs 539 kB/s on 3G Speedtest) -Sublime CM7 theme -Launcher Pro with 2 docks and 5 home screens -Simi clock -Opera Mobile -Better Keyboard 8 -Go SMS Pro -Winamp -Dark wallpaper for longer battery life :P My 1154 on Quadrant is pretty damn low compared to other NS running CM7 getting 1700... weird. |
Just out of curiosity why run CM7 instead of vanilla GB? are there extra UI tweaks incorporated in? I always wondered that. |

Most of the stuff I use are the visual tweaks to the UI and some battery saving tweaks on the way colors are rendered on the phone. There are other ROMs out there, which you can read up on here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=955719 Which one is right for you, whether stock or otherwise is up to you. |
ah that's interesting. I would've thought vanilla gb would be the end-all for android os's. I suppose there's always room for improvement :P |
i paid 499 + tax at mobilicity. is the kodoo version locked to kodoo? is that why its 425? |
anyone know where in town i could buy up a trident cyclops case in black for the s? or perhaps recommend a reputable online store? |

only difference is that some use different frequencies from others. i'm sure the three major carriers, ergo Koodo, have phones that can work with each other's networks, but i think there's one Canadian carrier that uses the AWS (T-Mobile) version of the phone. edit: looking up online, the Mobilicity version uses different bands from the major three carriers. see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki...Google_Nexus_S Mobilicity has the T-mobile (GT-I9020T) version while the rest of the carriers use the AT&T (GT-I9020A) version. |
here it's wind and mobilicity that use AWS (1700/2100, essentially the T-Mobile/original version) for 3G. everything else (including the big3 and their subsidiary brands- koodo virgin fido etc) use the other version. |

DL Launcher Pro or ADW Launcher to clean up the widgets/dock. Otherwise pretty good job. I lol'd at ArdenCho...I just spend the last 15mins watching her vids.. |
gonna be carrying me 2 phones soon, nexus s with unlimited data is so gooooood |
Hows the battery life? |
Fairly good. Nothing like the old E71 days but on a day of constant texting and a few calls here and there. I'm down to about 60 or so percent. |
Have you ever had experience with Samsung Galaxy (any variant)? How would you compare? My SGS makes it just barely makes it through the day if I don't touch it (a few text, few phone calls) or about ~10 of constant use texting, calling, games, wifi..etc. |

Mind you this is on 0% brightness (I bump it up if I really can't see), and running JuiceDefender Ultimate to take care of turning off my 3g/wifi on sleep. I also have a few other schedules that help. Apparently JD is supposed to use more battery than it saves, but I haven't found that to be the case. Definitely it's dependant on the user, but most smartphones (especially with large beautiful screens) will probably only get you through the day if you use it normally. Even with my old iPhone (3g) and my gf's 4, we find ourselves charging them daily. |
Woot I got a rogers 2 month early HUP they are sending it to me now with an extended 3 year 6 gig data plan. Two thumbs down for the casemate pop i got the last one at the cambie location and the screen protector had a dimple on it. Also it's hard as hell to take the phone out of the case people have broken the case on thier second try to take the phone out of it. |

I suppose I'm exaggerating a little bit...but I was comparing it to my old Nokia smart phones. Battery life was soooooooo goood. |
