edit: everything seems to work okay now after clearing dalvik/cache.. but my battery is charging EXTREMELY slow when phone is on, like 1% in 20 min. When turned off, it charges normally..... anyone know a fix for it?

Charging issue is kernel issue. I suggest you try a different kernel.

Anyone have this: I notice that the 3g/reception bar sometimes are green and sometimes are white...anyone know what each colour represents?

I'm on vanilla 2.3.4, not rooted.

Green means connected to the network, white means disconnected. Try going on the net using data and you'll notice the green on the bar.

Finding my keyboard crashes and doesnt appear quite a few times a week. Going to flash to an original CM7 release after work. I find the keyboard pretty lackluster as well in terms of auto correct and accuracy. It'll correct the words automatically when I'm typing and they'll be wayyy off.

What exactly do you mean by "disconnected?" As in, not using any data at the moment?

It has to do with whether or not you've currently got a good connection to Google's servers for sync services and the like. From page 27 of their Android 2.3 Users Guide:

Network status icons turn green if you have a Google Account added to your phone and the phone is connected to Google services, for syncing your Gmail, Calendar events, contacts, for backing up your settings, and so on. If you don’t have a Google Account or if, for example, you’re connected to a Wi-Fi network that is not connected to the Internet, the network icons are white.

An answer I got from google.

^I see, cool thanks a lot

Did you try the new version of NScollab? It came out yesterday.

W2K 06-09-2011 09:28 AM

Anyone know how to remove the extra panels on NS? Basically I just want 2 panels not including the home screen and not the extra 4.

Can't seem to figure it out. Thanks!

are u using a launcher app?

JordanLee 06-09-2011 03:56 PM

Download LauncherPro or ADW Launcher and you can remove or add panels. Even make them loop!

mrks: Just downloaded the new NSCollab, working great so far and I'm getting used to Swype.

Does anyone ever get dropped calls and missing texts on the NS?
I've had a few calls that never connected and went straight to voicemail, but I was in an area that had a decent signal.

!Yaminashi 06-17-2011 12:35 PM

A call going straight to voicemail doesnt mean it was dropped. Maybe they were on the phone or were in the middle of dialing

I get that sometimes when I try to call my gf when she's calling me, it'll go straight to VM, but 2 seconds later my phone rings

The few times it did happen to me, I was not talking on the phone.
I might have been using 3G, but that was about it.
That's why it's a bit odd.

does anyone know of any widgets that shows unread counts of whatsapp?

i have widgets that do it for gmail calls and text but cant find one for whatsapp

Can anyone comment on the Nexus S audio player?

Music/Media capability is important to me but I've read that the Nexus S player is quite basic. I'm debating between the Samsung Galaxy S which has superior audio quality and better music player UI (being able to drag music toolbar from top/change songs from locked screen).

Also, how would the battery life be with running the music player for 2h/day?

That's the beauty of android. Don't like something? Change it. Nexus phones represent a stock google experience. So yes the media player bundled is minuscule. Just get a different one out of the many available.

Unfortunately there's no such widget. You're only gonna get one if the whatsapp developer decides to create one.

Are there currently any apps available that will match or beat the functionality and sound quality of the one on the galaxy s?

I use PlayerPro and Grooveshark.
Grooveshark is pretty good for streaming songs and you have the option to store those songs on your phone. You have to pay for the subscription. I think it was $16 for the year. Works both on my iPhone and NS.

Player Pro is my normal music player the interface is really nice and sounds decent. Another nice this is that it pulls album art from the cloud for all your songs. It's only $5 on the marketplace.

Finally the one thing I find really cool about custom roms: Voodoo Control.
It gives you access to the built in headphone amp of the phone. You adjust volume limits and the hardware equalizer. I'm guessing the GS and the NS should have similar hardware and the headphone amp chip might be the same.

Yeah it should be the same Wolfson amp used in all the Galaxy S series line. Although the free version supports kernel based settings only.

I 2nd player pro. IMHO the stock Google player is as basic as you can get so anything out there will beat the stock audio app. For a free alternative try Winamp.

Installed SuperAOSP 8.6 because NSCollab has a bug with putting phone calls on hold when you answer or call.

SuperAOSP has some killer battery life compared to NScollab.
I'm 7.5 hours in and still have 65% battery. Very impressive. On NSC I would be at 20% after 8 hours.

Not a fan of the theming of SuperAOSP tho.
