If the smartphone data prices are the same as the rocket stick prices i'll be staying far away. 45 bucks for 1.5 gigs lol, what a joke.

Just to prove a point, current mobile data plans are pricier than what they're offering LTE data plans for anyways https://www.orderrogers.ca/rocket/stick

However, neither should affect mobile data plans for smartphones. If you have an LTE capable phone with an LTE capable sim card you're ready to go.

I really don't think there is any need for LTE, for myself anyway. I have two 3G devices, My SGSII and Galaxy Tab 10.1 3G, for the most part HSPA+ speeds are fast enough for what I do with both devices. I have used speedtest a lot to get a gauge of what the network speed ranges are and I have an average of about 3.5mbps on both. It's not like I download huge files anyway. Just access to e-mail and internet which never really have to wait for pages or stuff to load. I think LTE is more oriented toward enterprise and business customers initially. Can't justify paying a premium for faster speeds right now. In the end, LTE will trickle down to us anyway.

I have a question for all the Bell/Virgin SGSII users, do yours have the tethering feature? Was just wondering as mine is an international version.

Gh0stRider 08-31-2011 05:20 PM

i aint getting rid of my 6gb data plan. i'll pass on LTE

Oleophobic 08-31-2011 06:19 PM

Yeah when Bell upgrades their network to LTE I hope it will be just like the transition from 3G to HSPA. Never gonna give up my Unlimited Mobile Browser

Wow some guys on XDA are using 200-800mhz conservative as their main.
Whats the difference between "on demand" and "conservative"?

@gdoh, did you set your screen off profile to conservative?

After a day or so with my set voltages I clicked it to set on boot, I ran a short stress test with no errors and havent experienced any slow-downs, reboots of any sort.

However after some reading on XDA, one of (I believe he is) the developers stated that "conservative" means the phone wont be so quick to jump to higher clock speeds unless it absolutely needs to, and apparently "on demand" makes the phone jump to higher clock speeds even when its not needed.

Mine too. I was just wondering because some providers lock out tethering unless you pay for it.

I had been banned from this forum for a week last week after trying to warn people about a Touch Pad scammer...meanwhile I focused my energy to my phone and realized a few things:

1) A few people, myself included were having problems with the AccuWeather Widget cutting off numbers and being glitchy. I've figured out the reason for that. Those of us who changed our fonts to some downloaded one from the Market, may experience problems with the widgets. On the Galaxy, ALL the font change including widget fonts which is great but can cause some glitches if the widget doesn't support it.

2) After flashing Sensation rom and Lightening rom, I realized my battery had been cut 1/3-1/2 of what it was before. POWER SAVING FEATURES are a life saver! I'm using System Power Saver as well as Custom Power Saver and it brought my phone usage back up to just under 2 days.

That is all for now...Enjoy.

lightning rom battery life is soooo bad

!Yaminashi 09-02-2011 10:21 AM

Undervolting was the best thing I ever did. Took phone off the charger yesterday morning around 8 am, last night when I got into bed and plugged it in battery was still between 55-60%.

Although my whatsapp'ing was alot lighter than normal, I was still making phone calls, playing music, some web browsing etc

I picked up a Clingo from Future Shop and have to say its the best mount I've ever used. I've gone through tons of those cheap plastic universal ones and they suck.

this one is versatile, low key and even works with Galaxy Tab.

Car Mounts - car mounts for cell phones, wireless devices, Universal for Window Vent and Dash
