the crash will last for about a week and a bit than your body will start getting use to it.

i usually stop deadlifting and focus on assistant work and squatting

The pain is overwhelming when I workout and certain exercises agitated it. I had the same issue before and saw the physio which said its strained forearm muscles..

sounds like you used muscles that havent been used much. lots of heat will help and give it a few days

i get that when i go back to work in the spring

I used to get embarrassed when I'd take a long break in between sets thinking that it made me look like a douche .. or sometimes I'd feel rushed because my gym only has 3 6foot bars and people would be waiting .. what helped me a lot is to take a long break before I go for my heaviest set (assuming you're doing pyramid) and to always add weight every week, even if it is 2 x 2.5Lbs .. because then next week you can add 2 x 5lbs .. and so on.

If you're doing it every week, maybe take a single week off and then go back at it, that can also help.

SilvLX888 03-14-2011 10:35 PM

hmmm..i've done all that. resting longer, helper exercises and adding weight.

look at where your sticking point is, off the ground or lock out and focus on strengthening your weakness.

Might want to read this article. Pretty good points.

dachinesedude 03-15-2011 10:47 AM

how you guys gripping when doing deadlifts?

i can lift significantly more with an over-under grip vs an over-over grip (which is the proper way i was told)

gotta work on my general grip strength i guess

jeffh 03-15-2011 10:56 AM

i do mixed grip, never really tried with a normal grip
to offset the difference in wrist strength i do my calve raises with the mixed grip reversed from my DL

hud 91gt 03-15-2011 11:01 AM

I used to do mixed grip but it puts a lot of strain on your shoulders. I was doing 345lb x 8 with mixed, I now do about 270 with a standard grip. It sucks to see less weight on the bar, but my forearms scream for mercy and hopefully I can save my shoulders. I need to invest in some chalk as well.

hal0g0dv2 03-15-2011 03:25 PM

for one rep max on deads switch with straps or chalk w.e i got more or less double over when repping

try rackpulls, they are money

SkinnyPupp 03-15-2011 04:59 PM

You mean partials right? With more than your 1RM? If so, totally

Not really racist! 03-15-2011 05:35 PM

So I was in my usual deadlift spot today doing my own thing, I set up my bar etc etc, randomly this douchebag comes over and sets up his shit in front of me even though theres room everywhere else, I thought nothing of it and did my deadlifts. After my first set I realized this idiot was curling 25s and a 45 barbell while butchering form and using his back. When he finished a set he'd pull out his blackberry and start texting and would flex in the mirror in front of him so he could see his biceps. Probably spent more time texting then acutally curling. Oh his music was so loud anybody within 20m could hear too, surprised he isn't deaf.

When I finally got done with my warm up and got to my work sets, he kept staring at me through the mirror so I ignored it again. He continued for maybe about 15 mins and then finally left.

He had a mean mug on his face like he wanted to fight and he was acting all gangster and shit while wearing jeans too... SMH.... at least he wasn't doing it on the squat rack.

SkinnyPupp 03-15-2011 05:40 PM

Nothing wrong with using your back on bicep routines, IMO. The biceps are designed to work WITH the back and forearms, so the best bicep exercises are the ones that use all 3 groups.

But aside from that, what a cunt
