I'm surprised you're able to rep out 8 with 60lb dumbbells when you can only rep out around 5 with a plate. I started off 8 months ago benching 95lbs (5 rep max). Currently hitting 210lb for 5 at 148lb. Hoping to hit 3 plates in under 2 years!

The_Situation 06-09-2011 11:45 PM

cutting sucks.

how long are you cutting for?

The_Situation 06-10-2011 12:33 AM

I'm going to keep cutting until I lose 10-15 more pounds or until I can see them lower abs.
I think I'm around 13-14 % body fat. Hopefully I can get to the single digits within a month

Damn that's gonna be hardddd

My 'cut' has simply been no breads or wraps or junk meals (pizza, fast food, etc). Im about 2 honest weeks in and I can definitely see progress. Planning on continuing strict to the end of June.

Bonus side effect is Ive added a ton of veggies to my diet now (making chicken salads for lunch instead of wraps) and I actually feel better.

That, and Im 15lbs away from the 1000lb club. My squat will bring me there next week.

damn do u go all the way down to ur chest? thats sick, did u do 5x5 at anytime because im yet to try it

ETA: when i did the plate 5x, it was near the end of my set, before that i did 95x20, 115x 10, 125x 8, 135x5, 140x3

Finally some progress with my injured rotator cuff. Who knew sleeping with my arms above should level would agitate it enough to not heal. Day 4 of being conscious of how I sleep and it already feels way better! 3 more weeks (7 total) I should be able to get back to some real workouts.

I always do a touch n' go. I don't consider it a rep unless the bar touches my chest. I never did those actual routines like "Rippletoe's 5x5 or Stronglift's 5x5". I did 5 reps of 5 sets, and added 5lb every week.

i go but using the internet will provide plenty of information as well, many tutorial videos on youtube.

Showing me in person goes a long way for me. Plus a workout buddy. Not all my friends go to the oval and I was hoping to get a workout buddy/mentor at the same time.

New personal best set yesterday!

110 LB dumbbell chest pressed for 8 reps. =D

The_Situation 06-11-2011 07:50 PM

Nice. I love heavy dumbbell chest presses, but it's pretty hard for me to bring the dumbbells up for the set.

BaoTurbo 06-12-2011 11:55 AM

It's weird how I'm really pinner to a point where my abs are showing, but whenever I workout hard on my mid section of the body, it kinda grows bigger like instant bulk or something

how much do you weigh?

Alar 06-12-2011 12:16 PM

carb deficient is miserable. At 215 13% now, trying to reach 10 by mid july.

RRxtar 06-12-2011 12:21 PM

It gets easier after about 10 days. Im not doing a crazy carb-less diet tho. Just knocking out breads/etc to cut about 175g a day of carbs.

trancehead 06-12-2011 11:01 PM

did weighted single leg squats today for the first time. just did 10 pounds on each side + the bar. sore as hell but i feel good

ws6ta 06-13-2011 12:16 AM

i like how people put up random stats without actually giving us a picture of what the hell is actually going on (height/weight at a bare minimum)

squatted 3 plates but weigh 275lbs is a lot different then squatted 3 plates weigh 175lbs :lol

I cut down to around 175 lbs now. Used to weigh close to 190.

Anyways, chest and abs today. Decent workout but wasn't totally into it. Usually do chest/bis but my arms are still sore from Friday. Killer preacher negatives at the end.

BinsentoW 06-14-2011 07:06 PM

Gonna try to do 99lb db chest press today.
Probably need to have a spotter to help me get it up at the beginning though :troll:
Just for you ws6ta: Im about 145-148 lbs
