Sad.. tried DLing 225 and couldnt even get it up.

Just a question : For someone 5'7, when im starting the deadlift, should i sink my hips down to almost a 90 degree to start, or more of an angle?

SkinnyPupp 12-23-2011 09:55 PM

At the gym right now. Just had to chime in and say I finally pulled 300 lbs. Will go for 310

i go just above 90degree keeping the bar very close to my shins.

SkinnyPupp 12-23-2011 11:22 PM

I like this reverse pyramid thing. I haven't felt a pump like this in forever. Not that a pump means anything in terms of body recomp, but feels good man :megusta:

What I noticed is that when I went lower than 90 degrees it was a lot harder for me to get it up. Almost 90 degrees works best for me so I can drive my hips forward once the bar reaches my kneecap.

Dang..my 3 plate DL goal for end of year is seeming farther. Grip is lacking - need chalk.

Hmm..maybe I should scream "EASY" :concentrate:

chin3se604 12-24-2011 01:51 AM

no, you have to scream "HALO" :troll:

i sink to 90 just because it helps to ensure my back is straight when I do the DL...dnt wanna f that up..

on the other hand..i start losing grip doing 225 DLs too..so I use mix grip and alternate between sets..

SkinnyPupp 12-24-2011 03:14 AM

Yup I have to use mixed grip over about 280 right now. I alternate between lifts.

I wonder how much easier it is with a belt and chalk...

I see guys at my gym doing squats with straps around their knees, these tight ass lifting suits that constricts their movement, and lifting belts... ... It just seems to me that if you can only lift around 200 raw, you might as well work on that and leave all the gear to the guys doing 400+. But that's just me, to each their own :)

subordinate 12-24-2011 04:21 AM

Same thoughts skinny but I think its better to use chalk than switch to mixed grip at the early stage.

Need to figure something out for chalk then....

Shades 12-24-2011 07:05 AM

What do you guys think? LOL @ 2:05

The music is pretty epic though.

SkinnyPupp 12-24-2011 07:46 AM

Physically impressive, like gymnastics.. But man what's so "functional" about that?
