questions for you guys suggesting these large calorie surpluses:
if a person's "maintenance" daily caloric intake is 2000, wouldn't 2500 be plenty enough to build muscle?

no because any given high intensity workout, even if you are having short breaks or long breaks you are going to burn 300-600 calories

Fuck Gudd, you're so pinner than me now. You serious need to eat MOOOOOAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRR. As Skinnypupp told me to eat more a month ago. Gained 15lbs and no protein shakes at all :fullofwin:

J.C 06-17-2012 09:31 PM

i wanna see some before & after pics of halo :troll:

instantneedles 06-17-2012 09:32 PM

halo how much do you eat now? Do you think you'd go back down in size really easily if you stopped the high calorie diet? cus ur naturally an ectomorph right?

I'd say I'm probably 80% ectomorph 20% mesomorph, but I just keep getting the idea that no matter how much I eat, I will still be an ectomorph-dominant guy, and my bone and muscle shape will naturally be smaller than full-on mesomorphs/endomorphs... It's kinda discouraging sometimes

hal0g0dv2 06-17-2012 09:38 PM

I have lost a bit of size yes since I am no where the same calories while dieting but I have maintained the most of it. I think allot of it had to do with filling out my frame with the bulk. I never really got that fat when I was 290 I mean at 6'6 it filled out good and last year I did diet down to 250 so I would not lose much and this is a real cut for me.

Since I did everything in baby steps I have achieved the goals I want and kept the most mass

I currently am eating maybe 2500-3000 ish calories while dieting sometimes more don't really count
Although tomorrow is last month of diet so it's hard core diet and cardio for one month going to try and get below my current body fat 6/7 percentage

instantneedles 06-17-2012 09:47 PM

I mean in terms of lifting weights, back in my old gym, i lifted heavier than 80% of the mesomorphs there for my weight... i've tuned it down a bit and am working on lighter weights (75% of 1 RM) but I feel like the size still isn't coming...

fuck genetics and bone size..

Tried a new technique for chest today, and fuark i felt the pump...

Try getting some 65 lb dumbbells, hold it up right at the top with arms slightly bent for 5 seconds.. then immediately rep out 3, and bring it back up to the top again and hold it for 5 seconds, continue the cycle 3 times and you will feel the pump...

Good god, shut the fuck up about body types.

If you want to gain weight, eat more. If you want to lose weight, eat less.

jeffh 06-18-2012 04:41 PM

blaming genetics is just copping out

instantneedles 06-18-2012 04:46 PM

^that explains metabolism and the ability to pack on mass...

When you compare people that have near reached their genetic potential, there will still be dramatic differences... Why? not because of their metabolism, but because their bone size (length and width) and muscle belly size are different...

not sayin its impossible, there are diff people that have gone above and beyond, but its definetly alot easier for some people to aesthetically look bigger, and itll take a bit more time for others to get there...

anyhow, doesn't matter, hard work will show

Alphamale 06-18-2012 04:58 PM

Reached 100lbs 3sets x 5 for db decline chest press. Too bad that is the max DB @ FW.

Gonna try to hit up 100lbs for incline chest press, then move on to wreck the shit out of barbell chest press.

mikemhg 06-18-2012 04:59 PM

Really fast. Don't come to Rev for a few days and this thread is another 10 pages. Fuck.

-Do you squat, bench or dead-lift every exercise? If not start.
-Do you have a workout partner who can push you and spot you properly (ie. only helps when you're failing)?
-Lower the reps and up the weights within reason.
+1 for eat double what you're eating now
