^Doesn't seem like Gudbranson is playing to a big pay day anyways.

6o4__boi 11-24-2016 10:58 AM

RFA at the end of it

current cap hit of $3.5M
so we can assume he'll at least make that at the next one

But factor in looming UFA years we're looking at a possible 5x5 contract which would be disaster imo.

saw a tweet last night that went something like...
Canucks could've had a line of

Tkachuk-Nylander-Boeser

:okay:

Liquid_o2 11-24-2016 11:49 AM

Until Juloevi gets a couple years under his belt in the NHL, can't judge whether it made better sense to take Tkachuk. What is Juolevi turns into a stud top-2 dman and powerplay quarterback?

But I agree with Nylander. Or Ehlers. Always pick high skill when drafting in the top 10. JV never displayed high amounts of skill even when he was in junior. Canucks thought he could be that power forward who could notch up 60 points. Maybe it will still happen, but it doesn't look like he has the drive to do that ATM.

highfive 11-24-2016 01:16 PM

Remember. It wasn't long ago that we were complaining why the fuck did we draft horvat and not nishkunin. Look at where we are today. Way to early to judge a young player. Hell laine looks like a better pick than Matthews so far.

bobbinka 11-24-2016 05:32 PM

Steve Bernier, lol

SumAznGuy 11-24-2016 07:22 PM

From 2 days ago, but goes to show how bush the league can be.

So it was goalie interference when Burrows did kinda the same thing against Dallas.

Yeah it's not like scoring 45 goals in junior before his draft year doesn't require/show any skill at all :smug:

6o4__boi 11-25-2016 07:00 AM

Has 1A in 5G so far in the A

In hindsight, he probably should have gone back to junior last year. Hopefully Green can get through to him and set him straight.

pastarocket 11-25-2016 08:15 AM

What do you guys think Dim Jim will offer to Horvat in terms of a new contract? Bo Ho is playing in a contract year now.

I would think that Dim Jim would want to sign Bo Ho to a long term deal now that he's our best forward based on his play so far.

Contract length and term for Bo Ho? :suspicious:

6o4__boi 11-25-2016 08:21 AM

I know there's some people who wants to see him signed to a bridge deal in case his production falls off.

But Bo doesn't strike me as a guy who will hit and run if he gets a long contract and imo, he's already Captain material.

I'd like to see him signed for more than 5 years, buy off some UFA years. something between $4M-$5.5M cap hit.

murd0c 11-25-2016 08:43 AM

6 years at 5mill a year would be perfect but I have a feeling dim jim will sign him 6 years for 5.5-6mill a year.

6o4__boi 11-25-2016 08:53 AM

I'm surprised no one's done this against the Canucks yet

:lawl:

Gumby 11-25-2016 09:09 AM

Lol, what's the story behind that - goalie just didn't give a shit?

Id say something similar to what Galchenyuk's contract looked like

bobbinka 11-25-2016 11:42 AM

Think 1040 said Sven is out. Took a shot to the leg?

He scored 45 goals, but so have thousands of players over the years. Overall, if you look at his junior career, he didn't set the league on fire at all. 157 points in 183 games. Not too bad, but top draft picks typically destroy junior league goalies.

6o4__boi 11-25-2016 02:15 PM

Hindsight is a bitch, especially for Vancouver.

Ehlers scored 49 goals in his draft year, 104 pts total. And put up 28 pts in 16 playoff games.

Nylander played for Modo ffs. Modo has yet to give us a non-foundational player lol.

Virtanen might become a good player one day but he'll never be as good as those two will be.

There's more to hockey than just stat watching

The year after Virtanen scored 45 goals, he dealt with a (dislocated?) shoulder injury and had little time to heal thru before his 3rd junior season.

His shot was clearly affected by the shoulder injury which showed his goals and point totals take a dip.

Wow, nasal voice or what? Then the salamander in the throat. Didn't get to hear the star mangled banner, but our national anthem was less than stellar.

spideyv2 11-25-2016 06:04 PM

^ok

MG1 11-25-2016 06:40 PM

Just caught the anthem being sung on 1040 while I was at the Italian Cultural Centre. I guess the coverage on the tube doesn't do that too often during away games.

Anyway...............................

MG1 11-25-2016 06:41 PM

Fuark.......... wanted to post the monster jpg. We need Monster goal.

bobbinka 11-25-2016 07:03 PM

gaddamit, Edler

bobbinka 11-25-2016 07:07 PM

fuck man, Edler can never get it on net.

AzNightmare 11-25-2016 10:04 PM

Stecher seems pretty confident out there. Tapped his stick for the puck a few times at the point during that 6 on 4, too bad his shots couldn't find the net.
