NashMan, if you need the bottom hose to the I/C..
when i took mine off, they basically cracked apart, they were all hard and falling apart.
check the prices from lordco for a new one or something, if its too much you can have mine.... its doubtfully any better condition than yours now tho
whatta you guys say we meet up at goldstream park on the side of the highway there before the auto x?
maybe me and toby can meet up earlier and cruise there, then meet you
Enraged
06-16-2002, 10:03 PM

NashMan
06-17-2002, 05:41 PM

say 6:30'ish at goldstream park? i just hope the weathers nice again!
i know how you feel.... ive been taking it fairly easy on my tranny lately. it sure isnt grabbing as nicely as it used to :( the good news is im most likely getting it completely rebuilt with higher line pressure, 3k stall torque converter and a bigass tranny cooler
NashMan, i still have my I/C but i dont know if i wanna get rid of it, incase i buy another car i can swap the stock I/C back into the supra and keep the spearco
i'll try and grab some pictures of the hose soon

oh ya, duncan. i was thinking parksville.... 5 hours sleep on a Monday.... oh well... so 6 or 6:30? lets invite some ricers to drive up with us and leave them in our dust :)
Paradox
06-17-2002, 10:30 PM
6:30 sounds about right
geezus christ, i just took my car out for a burn.... the dense cold air makes one hell of a difference, broke the goddamn tires loose at 80k not expecting it. guess my back tires are getting bald and in the rain thats a bad mix but ahh well
umm NashMan i dont think i want to trade i/c's with you.. since yours is older and as i said before i want to keep mine incase i sell the car and swap it back in.
if its got red stuff on it, why not just paint it? and flush it while you're at it :)

06-18-2002, 08:42 AM
I think I should bite the bullet and sell my car to this guy in Richmond who is lowballing me by at least $1000... I'll have to put the extra $1000 on my visa to buy my supra, but perhaps it will be all worth it :)
Paradox
06-18-2002, 10:00 AM
i dunno, i say just keep it Supra's..
then we wont have to wait around for everyone to show up, etc etc. we dont want too many people.
prolly best to finalize this tommorow or thursday itself.
fuzebox, yeah sell it soon and get a supra! Hehe :) too bad you cant get what you're asking tho. atleast the prices of MK3's have drastically come down over the last few years
i remember in the buy & sell, i couldnt find one for under 15 grand in a not-too-distant past. now you can probably get a 89+ in sweet condition for 6-10k easy
Enraged
06-18-2002, 02:22 PM
i think hes buying his moms boyfriends car, already has some mods done to it.... i still want to see pics of it... its only $1000, GET THE SUPRA ALREADY!
well, i just ordered the silicon connectors to replace the throttle body one (ryan might remember my stock one is cracked and held together with duct tape lol) and i just picked up some stainless steel T-bolt clamps, so im hoping ill get them this week, or next week. im also workin on gettin a used FIPK for US$75, not bad, and it comes with a cleaning kit.... might be exhaust tubing next week..... and a security system to install myself next week..... i LOVE MY CAR!

heh sounds like some good car investments Enraged
i just invested in a black & decker mini-vacuum which is pretty damn powerful for a lil thing. our house vacuum is no better than one of those 1980's dustbusters... finally i can get all the damn cat hair outta my car!
yes thats right, cat hair.. my cats dont usually go cruising around with me, but their hair sticks to me and then over time its just condensed to the point where there was like cat hair on everything inside the car.. hehe, most of its gone now tho. thank god.
i wish the weather was a little nicer so i could start cleaning the outside of my car, i know the claybar is supposed to be applied in the shade and on cold paint, but baaah i dont wanna do it in the rain :(
Enraged

So I decided to accept the guy's offer... It's actually $2k under my asking price, but only $900 under what was my absolute minimum :(
Ah well. Turns out my mom's bf needs the car for another two weekends, then I can pick it up, probably July 2nd or 3rd... It's in Prince George, so I'm gonna WestJet up there and drive it back.
That gives me the next 2 weeks to pick up some small things like gauges and whatnot.

baha, on the way home i weighed my car at the scales by elk lake, came out to 3836 lbs with all stereo stuff, tool box, full tank of gas and me in the car. OUCH!
i guess without the speaker box, tool box, me and less gas i would be down around 3500-3600.
damn thats one heavy mofo, no complaints from me, it goes like stink and handles awesome!

and thanks for the comment SilverMK3, but my paint is actually quite bad up close... lots of little scratches, and the sideskirts are pretty much sandblasted, since its original paint. nothing a completely new RSP paintjob cant fix ;) good choice on speakers too, they sound great for the money. dont be like me and nashman and spend thousands on stereo stuff....
hows your car coming? we'll be up in duncan on thursday for the autox, it would be nice to see you there.

Hey,
Yeah, they're 4" speakers. They're a bit deeper than the stock ones though so it was kind of a pain getting them into the doors. I had to bend the "mounting ears" to get them to fit. I'll tackle the rear speakers tomorrow.
As to the car's condition, well its finally insured and back on the road. My back tires suck though, one of them has a not-so-slow leak and the other one's totally bald on the inside (from the junk yard). I'll hopefully get new ones next paycheck.
Also, I have to find time to get under the car again and tighten all the bolts that I played with before I'll trust it on the highway. Its had a week or two to settle and I'm sure some of them are pretty much ready to fall off :(
Enraged:
Your paint is better than mine! My passenger side rear quarter panel is completely covered in gray primer. It looks just like my paint, except dull, but it still pisses me off that when I bought it they told me the paint had just "faded from the sun".
I'll definately come up to the next mini meet. I work on thurs so I can't make the auto-x tho :(
NashMan
06-22-2002, 07:52 AM
hehehe sliver mrk3 do you still hav ethe old brakes form you old rear cross meber and stuff
ps if we have mini meet you will have to let me drive your car caue si have driven a na for along time i wan to see if i happy driven na then turbo and yes i will let you drive my car ps is it

I work from 5:00pm-1:00am (closing shift @ the theatre) :(
I also wanna get those tires and do a bit more maintenance before I subject my poor baby to any abuse like that! :p
Nashman:
Yeah I still have the old crossmember. What do you want off it? rotors, calipers, pads, brake lines, e-brake lines?
Yeah u can drive my NA, its an auto. I don't think you'll be too impressed, its definately in need of a little TLC. When I finish paying off my credit cards I'll start restoring it and fixing the little things. My cam covers are leaking, I could use a tune up, and my muffler is rotting out from the inside so it makes a terrible noise between 80-90km/h
As to driving your 5spd.... I don't wanna wreck your clutch! lol :o
Enraged
06-22-2002, 01:32 PM

i can see it now toby toby help you do a na to t swap
siteing on lawn chairs drinking a beeer say that part goes there ooooo that one looks dirty it must go by the oil pan some where
as for na to swap hummm was it worth all my time sure i guess it is cheaper then buying anther supra kinda
but the easyest way whould be to buy a turbo car that is chrashed or some thign and srip it of the parts you need

where are you silver mrk 3 i need ot know what condtion yuor brakes and all the stuff you got
ps i can help you get more power out of your na when we meet up and such and some are free some are not i used to be na and there great but there is some cool shit you should know about
SilverMK3
06-23-2002, 01:44 PM
Hey,
Nashman I've got all the stuff just sitting in the garage. The rotors are getting a little bit of surface rust on them, but it'll come off the first time you use your brakes. The pads should be fine, there was no squeeking or anything when I had them. All the cables are in good condition.
Enraged, I might do the NA-T swap sometime in the future, but probably not until after I get a new paint job and restore the interior. I'll probably have worn out the 7MGE by then anyway. I'd be happy for any help you guys could give me though. If I can find a cheap JDM turbo engine I'd slowly build it up and then drop it in once it already had a MHG, an upgraded CT26 and all the supporting mods.
What kind of mods did you do to your NA, nashman? Once I fix my leaking cam covers I was going to increase my timing, re-torque my head bolts, get a K&N, and maybe do the free CAI mod at the same time. I'll need to get an exhaust pretty soon too.
Paradox

there's the AFM mod you can do too, its on SOGi list
NashMan
06-23-2002, 05:34 PM
well bump timing is one of them
run 92 octain
afm flapper ajustment
puch out cats or just run stright pipe biger power increas
2.5 exhuast
flowmaster muffler 2.5
turlen in your gas tried it befor big power
get rid of that air muffler and run civic pipe air intake
bosh p4 tiped plugs good for na's not that great for turbos
and the list goes on i can get into like eninge stuff
oh yae you did not say if you had the e brake cable if you kno what i mean you know for the hand brake connects and goes down tot he rear parking brake
SilverMK3
06-24-2002, 03:28 AM
Hey, yeah the e-brake cables are there. sorry, must've forgot to mention that in my post.
What do you have to do for the AFM mod? And what's the air muffler - the intake resonator? If so isn't that neaded for the AFM to work properly? Also I thought you lose low end power on an NA if you free up the exhaust too much.
NashMan
06-24-2002, 09:25 AM
well you afm had spring tenstion flapper you just loosen it up so you run richer and no you don't need the air resnator at all caues once you put k$n filter(drop in only) on ti still caues terbulace ect so it is not need plus it ugly
as for exhuast just punch the cats out and run 2.5 or 2.25 2.5 is what i had gave me more zip onthe highway and weh i was runing rich and 92 octian and stuff it ran great
punch cats 2.5 cat back whith free flowing muffler
one other thing to add is get oil catch can they do wounders
oh and the reson why i said the drop in only is cause you dont need the shineing fliter at all caue sit is not need in turbo maybe
runing header don't even bother does nothing
all so upgradeing th eig system will incress power caue shte nas ig system was not that great but works fine
alls so one other thing you can do to you na is add a turbo
get the manfold/ turbo /down pipe/atmospearick bov/ boost mbc or ebc and some small thing and push 4 psi and you will eat supra turbo alive
any way if we meet i can tell you some stuff and i very intrested in takeing thous parts off your hand
i was thining on doing that as well
NashMan
06-24-2002, 09:10 PM
ok who is all going ott he mini suprqa meet to go tot auto x this thursday at 6 at payless gas staion whihw the subway in it on the highway going to duncan to the right of the like in lagford area

yay ill have boost! purolator tried to deliver my silicon connecotrs today, so ill pick them up after work tomorrow! paypaled for the K&N FIPK today, hopefully will be here in a week... im called Lordco to order the exhaust piping tomorrow....
Paradox
06-24-2002, 10:43 PM
i'll have MORE boost hopefully tommorow!
woohaww
i figure with spearco I/C i should be able to go higher than 12psi on the CT26
new o2 sensor tommorow too.. good thing, too. i think my cars getting like 5mpg right now, i guess when the o2 sensor dies it just runs super rich.
i think im screwed for the dual pillar pod tho :( suprasport isnt ordering ANY more.... so umm im most likely going to be credited for the value of that, or just have it put back on the CC. who knows
so theres no MBC in your future, Enraged?
NashMan
06-25-2002, 03:50 AM
ummm humm the stock ct 26 on 12 pounds humm that will do not much reson being
any were from stock to 10 psi you will note power improvment after 10 psi 2 pounds is nothing but hot air caues the ct 26 is can't push air any more air in less you have a bigger wheel
sure it will push 12 pounds but it it does really nothing caues of the trim size ect and plus you will be over load the poor littel thing
staying at 10 psi is fine 2 extra pounds i don't think it will do much as for power ( but you can try it any ways )
and what do you mean by exhuast piping toby

the Ct-26 doesnt start running out of steam until 15 psi... is been proven several times over... 12 psi is what most people stop at becuase that is where fuel cut is. if you want to get around fuel cut, you'll need 550s and a lexus afm or a VPC.
as for the mbc, im goin to keep lookin. for the options out there, ebc arent worth it unless i want to spend $1000....

umm.. i was looking thru all the car lots for a cheap'ish winter car
there is like NOTHING out there.... arggh. i checked basically every lot in victoria, also went thru the auto trader, no luck.
just hope i can find something cheaper up island... keeping the supra 100% off the road in the winter would be awesome.
ohh new o2 sensor in too, i still idle like crap. but gas mileage is waaay better, tranny fluid changed too, with 75W90 and GM addidtive. makes it feel a little smoother

are you going with that crazy ass viper system? that'll be a challenge to install, but far worth the effort :)
btw i just pulled my car hard on the highway, and after o2 sensor and tranny fluid it felt a lot better, i didnt really get a chance to let er open til tonight. instead of the ford LSD additive, i put in GM additive, so far it feels great. transmission is a lot smoother compared to before, but still not to the spec i want..hehe.
and yeah, im thinking of getting some NGK plugs and wires soon.. ive just been putting it off cuz i had new toyota wires put in last december, but the toyota wires arent too good compared to the NGK's (i forget which type, but theres one set that are supposed to be amazing)
i need to get a spark plug wrench socket
mainly i think i idle like crap because of the lexus AFM and no adjustment screw. i notice the car only really stalls after the BOV shoots out a ton of air, so maybe the BOV is still too tight..
what would you guys suggest for the best spark plugs?

i havent done it, but i should soon. i might just change the headgasket (to a new stocker) with ARP bolts in the near future, just to be safe.
its actually not that hard. i could have done it, i just didnt have the time. take off the 3000 pipe, coil packs, the different vaccuum lines, the throttle linkage, etc, then just remove the cam covers. you can torque them down with the cams in, they just have to be at top dead center apparantly.
i still want to know if i can just swap in ARP bolts without changing the head gasket at all. i dont feel safe torqueing the old stockers down, it would be a bitch to get them out if one of them snapped...

I guess I should bust out the old haynes manual and pull the parts off - unless you feel like doing it?
As to the wiring off an 86.5, there's nothing in Nanaimo, when I was looking for a parts car to get the crossmember from all I found was a TEMS 87 NA, and an 88T at South Island Imports.

my first responce .. HOLY SHITE IS 15psi CRAZY!
where i have it set now, it spikes to 15psi, holds for a bit then slowely drops down to 11 or 12psi
i checked the wheel in the turbo again too, the play isnt too too bad and its not chipped or broken, so thats good i guess.
im still running far too rich, i think the AFPR is a must if i want to continue with using my fuel setup.. arggh gonna cost more $$$ than i expected to get it running well with the Lex AFM/550's

and yeah dude 15psi is just fucking nuts compared to before, i wonder what sorta HP #'s the CT26 would be making now?
it sure feels like a lot more, i was trying to tune it in a little better earlier today and think i gained some power up high, since theres no fuel map past 12psi the S-AFC basically controls all of that

im goin up friday for the entire weekend probably.
saw you drive past my work, why didnt you stop and say hi? hehe
id say your makin around 350-370 rwhp, depending on your tuning. you would probably do the 1/4 mile in high 13s if your tires were good, i would think. apparantly you can run mid/high 12s with around 450 rwhp, with an NA diff (Dr Jonez ran 12.9 with 460 rwhp before he blew his engine).
so lets get this straight. you need: 550s, lexus afm, afpr, upgraded pump, s-afc, and ? thre is an adjustment screw on the Lexus afm, its under a cover though i think.... people were talkin about it on supraforums. if you took it out, it might lean you out a bit more.
i need a new job so i can catch up :) or maybe ill just go upgraded ct-26, and a nice 75 shot :D

Reg's Lex AFM/550 mod doesnt call for a bigger fuel pump, i just got that to prepare for higher boost... but yeah id say to be able to fully tune past 12psi you'll need the S-AFC, dont really need that screw in the AFM.
AFPR looks like a must... when i get out of my car now, all i can smell is gas. also when i installed the MBC i noticed black soot ontop of the CT26.. hehe looks like i got a oil leak in there somewhere, or crappy turbo seals. i'll slowely work on murdering the CT26 over the next few weeks, then get it all back together with the 20G. i just ordered the suprasport AFPR install kit, so now all i need is a paxton or aeromotive AFPR. hrmm.. hope lordco can get em, ordering shit from suprasport takes too damn long

what should the total cost of doing them in copper cost?
if it can be painted, i might be interested... but the copper look itself just doesnt sit right in my mind (or under my hood) ;)
i hope to get some aluminum hardpipes, then maybe powder coat them black. might be expensive.... but so is everything else that ive had to do on my car lately.. arggh!
after i rebuilt the tranny, my car better be worth like 50 thousand dollars or im gonna be pissed! altho, in reality id be lucky to get like 20K, which is sad because ive yet to see another MK3 in as good of condition as mine and with as many mods on this island... or anywhere for that matter. ive seen 91T 100% stock with a waaaaaaay nicer interior, i guess thats about the closest.
im generally pissed at my car right now, that o2 sensor didnt change a damn thing and im still idling like garbage, i think the seals on the turbo are toast and theres black shit shooting out of the turbo itself (altho i first saw this before i raised boost, i think it was from when i tried to drive my car with the S-AFC totally messed and using the wrong AFM setup)... MVP better hurry up with my 20G before all hell breaks loose.
the only good thing out of all of this, when i pull "1" thru to "D" at full throttle, it gets going so damn fast i barely have any time to check the gauges :D

marlon at pennisula quoted me $529.80 for the BF T/A G-KDW 17/40/235's about a month ago, he even printed out the quote, so now i can hold him to his price quote! heheh. as for wet driving, i doubt my car will even be on the road in the winter, if i dont get a winter beater im just gonna drive my moms 240sx or something.
as for replacing plugs, christ i dunno how you can pull it off in 15 minutes. i guess after you've done it once it'll be easier next time. i only replaced sparks # 1,2 5 and 6. 3 and 4 are a biotch to get at without removing the throttle cables and ICS piping. taking all that off was a first for me, so i didnt want to get too hasty. i'll do that later.. i left the coil pack cover off too, thinking about painting it, but if i paint it and remove the turbo badge, you guys got any ideas of what i can use to glue that badge back on their after its painted?
also started polishing the 3000pipe, and yeah Ryans right, it does look kinda funny when its polished. i might just paint that too.
none the less after new plugs im no longer super pissed at my car, and for the first time ever today i accelerated so fast that the CDs in the little holder thing under the CD deck went shooting out of there... boost rules! :D

its easy.
take off the 3000 pipe (its harder for me since i have an larger upper hardpipe). remove the throttle cable bracket (2 bolts on the side of the valve cover, and i think 2 on top). remove the coil pack (4 nuts, one at each corner). its even easier if you have one of those wobbly ratchet attachments. i should change my plugs and oil and filter this week...
it was scary the first time i did it, but its very easy now.
i also my hardpipe with some high temp paint, looks ok, better than bare slightly rusting metal....

yeah seems easy enough, i just didnt wanna screw anything up... you know how our cars can be, like half the time to work on one thing you have to remove like 10 other things.. heh.
anyways, did you paint anymore of the interior of your car? i saw some pics of a guys car on supraforums today that he painted, and it looked pretty damn good.
also im a dumbass, i might need the silicon connector for the 3000pipe now, just to be 100% sure im not boost leaking. i noticed that it was pretty brittle and hard when i removed it.. what size did you order from hosetechniques? and how did it work out for you?
ps - Ryan, NGK lasers seem way better than Bosch plugs. Ohh and i went to lordco in sidney and asked about the AFPR, that jason guy must be like a general manager or something because they said to come back tommorow and ask for him (at the sidney location)

no torque
front wheel drive
if it werent for those drawbacks, id consider selling my supra and getting a RSX Type S just for the reliability factor and having a brand new car would kickass too..

Boy am I glad it's an 89... the sexy back end :) I'm also glad the 3" exhaust tip doesn't have that "look at me, I drive a Honda" look to it. Nice and rumbly though.

either way, very nice car! targa is great, isnt it? is it just the light, or just dirty on the front bumper? and can someone please tell me the difference between 86.5-88 and 89-92 rear bumper?
theres a dyno at uvic? but can anyone use it? i also heard theres one in langford somewhere. the reason i wanted to go to vancouver is becuase they have a DynoJet, the most used, and most accurate dyno available right now....

I think I have an exhaust leak, but I can't tell until I get a real boost gauge :p
Full bost comes around 3500 rpms... it goes a little higher than 2 mmHg on the stock gauge (but not quite to where 3 would be)
I've got an intake/downpipe/exhaust, so shouldn't it pull to 4mmHg (which is 7.8 psi iirc)...
I'll go through in the next few days and check all the hoses, but I don't think this is right.
Enraged
07-03-2002, 10:03 PM
common boost leak is often the stock blowoff valve. take it off. if you can blow through it, its hooped. the stock boost gauge is totally useless, pay no attention to it.

looks like it has great potential.. im guessing it wasnt winter driven in PG?? hehe, i used to live there -- winters arent pretty.
now its time to begin modding... lol, welcome to the world of owning a supra :)
must have been a sweet cruise, that route is great, really nice... always fun when you see the odd mountain goat too, or a gigantic pine cone.. hehe
ps - i just got back from parksville... drove up there and back again today, lowered the boost down to 10psi (hopefully for decent mileage). some guy in a riced out newer cavalier tailed me the whole way trying to race me.. finally i just gave up and punched it for like 5 seconds to show him it wasnt no 4 banger... out of all the possible places i could do that, a fucking cop was like right across the road on the highway.. all he did was flash his lights at us, thats cool since the road was in the middle of nowhere.. but we were pretty much above the speed limit at that point. i think ive just found another reason not to race rice (or potatoes) :D

i am gues it past 2 a long time ago maybe 250 or tad higher
eaxhuast leaks are easy to find just take oyu had block you muffler if it stalls no leak if she still keep a going bang you got leak if there is no change in ideal then you got big big leak
most of the time it the catback gasket or manfold gasket or in man is where the manfold bolts up you loose bolt alot
i still need new body but i 7000 in the hole and hoigh milage cars are not the great car to give hp they will spin bearing and al the other crap that is if it really high milage plus the turbo may be like just about dead
why tht ehell do you wan to sell you toy any way

i get the museum light once in awhile, usually no more than once every two months or so, but i think i have a small leak somewhere. i get the waterfall once in awhile too, but i've been told that it might be the exhaust gas recirculation thing coming on, because it comes on to help heat up the engine.
does it have a MHG? if so, check the torque on the bolts, they should be at least 70 ft-lbs. if its the stock gasket, torque it to 70 or 72 ft-lbs in 10 ft/lbs increments (ie stock 52, then 62, then 72).

i just need a I/C pipe from down from about the washer fluid holder area.. then i can just get a coupling and hook it up to the hardpipe for the HKS SSBOV
nope i dont have my rotors? if thats what you meant.. they were all warped and useless by the time i removed them :(
id keep your I/C pipes that color, it looks good shiney...
and as for painting your wheels black, i dunno man, im not a fan of black wheels on white cars.. i think it looks really ugly. maybe take some paint stripper then clearcoat them so theyre all shiney instead. i think thats what Enraged is doing, ive seen it done before and looks way better than black..
NashMan
07-07-2002, 02:18 PM
i got to much curb rash inrder to make em shiny i find
but in oder to make that work you will have to replace that neato pipe you go inoder for it to work so you will ahve to get your ssbov vavle re wealed on
so you don't know how to photo shop my wheels diffent coulors

i dont want to replace the pipe the HKS BOV is on, i want to make the rest of the pipes aluminum or something... from where the black circle is on this pic down to the I/C. then put a coupling on where the red arrow is..... just an idea

ahh too bad, i liked it shiney :(
any of you guys drive in the rain today? it was fucking crazy... i didnt think my crappy burned out Ct26 could push much CFM anymore even at 13-15 psi, but holy shit. i punched it on this road to see how the traction would be... second gear at like 80kph, soon as the turbo spooled i was red lining the tach. and the back tires were spinning like mad ! :eek2:
freaky shite.. im getting new tires tommorow, finally
NashMan

i got the BF T/A G-KDW 17/40/235's... got a good price on em too.
driving in the rain is scary man! specially with totally bald tires, i was just spinning em today cuz i got the new ones :D

I took my BOV off yesterday, and I can't blow through it... but it still flutters, so I'm sure it's busted.
For shits and giggles I'm venting it to atmosphere now... stalls out every once and a while, but eh, sounds a lot cooler ;) ) Most of the time while the turbo is spooling up I can hear the BOV pushing tons of air... Definately leaking.
My Porsche 911t Bosche valve comes in on Wednesday, we'll see if that makes a difference.
I'm also going to do the ghetto PVC hardpipes, a la JBLMK3. We'll see how that goes, I'll give everyone an unbiased review ;)

haha i always wondered how a 7M would perform with the stock BOV right off of there. ive seen DSM guys do it with no probs..
anyways, cool FuzeBox, get some pics of the ghetto pipes! :D
keep in mind that NashMan's setup probably cost around the same using steel? cost him like 20 bux for pipes.

i go away for a few days, and you guys post alot! nashman, that pipe looks sweet! just a suggestion, make sure you put a lip on the ends, or the hoses can blow off. know what i mean?
anyways.... my adventure...
1.) Friday. we head out, theres a crash on the malahat, we manage to escape the carnage, and say screw it, we'll go tomorrow.
2.) Saturday. we get goin, but my GF lost a contact, so we head to her house to get her new ones. doen and done, start the car, start to roll down the driveway.. cough cough cough pfffttttt....... engine dies.... the same thing happened awhile back, and the car was REALLY hot (extra 2 people and packed full hatch with heavy campign shit), so i figure maybe a vapor lock or maybe i somehow flooded it... i ended up doin the same thing i did last time... we drove to crappy tire, bought new plugs and a $15 socket set, i changed all the plugs and put a few drops of oil to regain compression... BAM she starts RIGHT UP with TONS of blue smoke haha and idles BETTER with some Bosch Platinum plugs! no more little misfires at idle, more power throughout the revs... horray! so instead of headin back to my house we say go for it, we boot it to parksville! set up camp, walk on the beach, have a huge fire back at the campsite and get shitfaced :D
3.) Sunday. wake up, buddy is hung, pukes behind the tent haha so we leave him in the tent, go for food. after food (smittys in parksville... stay away....) we go pick him up, and go to MINIGOLF! i won, $0.10 per point, i won $0.50!!!! horray! after that, we get food, more liquor, more wood, go back to the campsite, hang out get shitfaced and have a HUGE fire.
4.) Monday, well sorta. 3am it starts POURING rain... and the tarp over the tent is leaking everywhere.... GF flips out, knees me in the back... ouch... anyways, morning comes, we dry everything out, head back home. WRXs are FAST! i had a hard time keepin up with him... i liek those...
and thats my adventure. no to go put stuff away....

oh ya.... RAYBESTOS BRAKES CAN LICK MY LEFT FUCKIN NUT! THEY SUCK!
gonna have to buy some stock toyota pads this week....
Paradox
07-08-2002, 03:57 PM
hehe sounds like a pretty good trip man.. too bad the supra didnt hold up :(
why'd you go with bosch plat's? i just yanked those outta my car! hehe NGK lasers work way nicer....
also dont get toyota brake pads, get carbon pads ... the hotter they get the better braking power you have. compared to vice versa on the stock pads. well thats what ive heard atleast..
as for heat soaking posting i dunno, i think that was Ryan? ive never had any heating probs, even back when i had the BHG it only ran a tiny bit hotter than usual. ask Ryan he knows that sorta stuff.. hehe
the tires i got are pretty cool as for performance, i dunno if i like the appereance of them as much as the yokohamas, i wasnt sure what the height of them would be like, so i went 235/45/17 same as the yoko's
turns out the Goodrich 235/45 are a decent amount higher.. sorta looks like i have slicks or something on the back now hehe. they dont look too bad, i'll post pics later. i was just expecting the same profile as the yoko's. as for performance umm.. they squeel more when i do a burn out. hahaha. i havent really had a chance to hit any corners at speed yet :(
i only got the back 2 tires replaced, my fronts are fine, and to break the mystery of whether or not the BF's are a harder compound than the yokohama decibels, i would say that the BF's are way harder compound. i can just feel it.
im gonna miss having decibels all around tho.. i loved those tires.. they just wear out WAY too fast
anyways, i think im done with my 5 page post.. enjoy :)

hehehhe well frist of all i chould not lip emm and if i did i whould have to use hammer and that is kinda not pretty whe you start banginf stuff as for blow off i think i am in the clear caue si not pushign that much psi
as for you not useing bov heheh that funny you not doing any harm but may get crap in your thottle body but eh what ever what ever
as for you car dieing not starting up as change the plugs and such hummm i don't think that is the pron in any way i think it is some were esle
cheak these things
1 plug wire's stock boots over tiem seam to separt akak bost plus and fall's apart plus just don't die (hint add spark plug greash to your plugs to get better conntion and stop carowtion
2heat soak is this when you have air in you system and you have air pocket right then the heat has no ware to go so it goe sinot your block baskilg
how you know you have heat soak is after you shut off your car got to try to start it again and it will not start
now if this was ever to happen to you what you have to is pop the rad cap off as fast as you can (watch that you don't burn you self use big towle, grab house stock inot you rad and turnnt he sucher over it should start and let it cool down
caues if you let it stay hot like that you hg will turn into bhg in no time or just weaken it
aka toby you should really fix you temp gauge
there are lots of things that cna go wroung when you car doe snot start liek that
aka just look for these 3 thihgs when it doe sit again and yoy fidn the prob area (fule/spark/air)
any way hope you had fun on your camping trip i knwo whould have
as for pads get teht nosie speakle junk on put em on you pads and stuff
teh best pads i ever ran are the trd ones there the bomb but cost a bit but one good thing thou is you will have one thing made by trd on your car

http://mkiv.virtual.net.nz/articles/kevinter.htm
add some fiberglass ducting maybe...
as for the brake pads.... its not the skweel or anything, they are CRAP! goin down the highway at 90/110 around there, and put on the brakes for a stoplight, and i get a vibration/weird feeling. its really hard to describe, but im pretty sure its the pads glazing over.... im goin to take the wheels off and check the pad life with the new slotted rotors. stock toyota pads are $81, in stock. so ill look for a different alternative.

yeah two would be sweet, way better than a stocker MK3 I/C.... mounting would be a bitch tho.. have to custom mount ALL of it. i had enough probs with the spearco which was built for the damn MK3

hey, nashman how long have you been into supras? Oh thanks for the tip on the parts i never thought of phoning them. Iam thinking of going for the a new exaust and cool air intake any suggestions
Enraged
07-10-2002, 10:12 PM
intake: used K&N FIPK if you can find one, check out www.supraforums.com forsale section. or you could get the universal kit from www.suprasport.com. or... another option is buy an adapter like this http://www.supra-sport.com/images/Adapters.jpg for US$15, and get a K&N from Lordco or the like, email toysport@supra-sport.com if you want one of those.
exhaust, go to the same guy nashman went to, $300 for piping i think, plus the cost of the muffler (you can get a magnaflow 3" stainless for around $200). as for downpipe, if your interested, i can get a one-peice (no turbo elbow) for US$300... over $100 less than retail, polished stainless steel....
im asumming you have an 88? what color/options/condition etc?

Just installed my porsche 911 turbo BOV... I'm a big disappointed :p
1) Same spoolup, same performance, etc... this means my stocker wasn't leaking, as I originally thought
2) Boring rush of air sound... I read in a few places that because the valve had a shorter piston or something, it would snap open with a sharp whistle. Maybe I'm not running enough boost for this.
It is a bit louder than the stocker and doesn't flutter though... A decent repair for $65 :p

No hoot here... I think that's a myth :P Basically it's just a low-pitched woosh, you can easily hear it near the car...
And yes, maybe in a few months I'll buy the HKS unit, probably the old-style ones off Ebay or something.
