ahh btw, im painting my interior right now, got it all ripped apart. at first i thought id just rip off the dash and get that out of the way... but i was misled so i did the cover thing under the steering column, the speaker covers, the door handles, the window switch covers, the door sills and the lid in the center console... so far it looks pretty good, im not really using anything for prep. either, just whiping it down with steal wool and trying to get as much armolall residue off as possible. it doesnt seem to be much of a problem -- that vinyl paint is like glue when it sprays on, fun stuff...

it is possible well i blot to bolts had to re drill em out and such but it just hard to get at places and such but pretty much easy just take bit of tiem for the frist time

Did my retorque today, although I had one of those crappy gauge-style torque wrenches, so it is probably not as good as if I had used one of the adjust+click ones.

Took me 3.5 hours, I took my time, plus cleaned up a lot of shit like the valve covers (crusted with grime and oil). I get paid tommorow, so I can pick up some gauges and turn up the boost!

im painting more interior today... i yanked out the entire back of my car, carpet, both side covers, the back covers... basically its all down to bare metal except just behind the doors up to the targa. everything elss is bare behind the drivers seat. :evil

damn how much weight does all that crap account for? i drove my car for a bit and it felt way peppier, i guess i had a bunch of tools and garbage laying around in the spare compartments too, but damn, just felt powerful. the MKIV fuel pump is so damn loud with no carpet or detoning either. lol.. sounds fucking awesome, id be tempted to just always leave all that crap off if it didnt look so bad :(

ive only got like 2 cans of paint to deal with here so im starting out with flat black then going over it with glossy (they ran out of glossy) im sanding the back parts down with 220 grit sandpaper, do you think thats too much?

Hmm, went for a drive after doing the retorque, boost was shit, could barely hear the BOV, and I was coughing up white smoke :(

I gave it a few revs at red lights, and it spewed a lot of white smoke... Once I got home, I checked the overflow tank, and it was a bit low (not low enough for the coolant light though). I can't seem to make it smoke white anymore, and I fixed two hoses that looked like they weren't on tight enough.

No oil in the coolant either.

I guess we'll have to see, I'm gonna let it sit for a bit then take another drive.

i dunno, i know sometimes my coolant light comes on, its running a little low when the engine is cold, but is fine once ive got it going.

hmm... that doesnt sound good.... does the car have a MHG, or stock gasket? from retorquing, i figure stock.... i dont want to get you worried man, but white smoke is one of the symptoms of a BHG. you should get your coolant checked for exhaust gas (easy test, most shops will have them).

lookin over the security system wiring diagram... damn, this is goin to take awhile.... i have 3 sirens to mount :)

it really can be only 2 things a you trubo seals are toast basicl coolent is getting to combustion chamber or really high dought this one you have bad haed gasket

but you said you had no boost so i going for the turbo is toast and needs rebuld and are you sure there is no shaft play caues most of all supra's have sfat play at this day and age in less it new turbo


i think you should wiggle it again in every way possible caue sbuddy of mine said he had no shaft play so i called bluff and wiggled it my self and he had shaft play


oh and as for the coolent thing you may have cracked your head as well but you oil will not go milky for like a week

1 have to fill over flow alot/ can be rad cap too
2 after boosting you have fome l in your over flow
3 start the car and it gose like old fait full
4 over heating/therma state stuck closed/water pump dieing out
5 milky like oil aka most likly cracked block
6 pull plugs let em dry look for odd cloured plug

and some other thigs but not much things you can tell this you can all do at your house

i didnt even think of the turbo seals, that would be alot simpler, and you can get the turbo upgraded for around US$450-800 depending on where you send it.

dont replace, upgrade :D

Just talked to a friend who knows his toyotas, and he says the ct26 doesn't have seals in the traditional sense, just bearings that keep oil out of the shaft, but there is no way that coolant can get in :p

i think thats bout the only place you can check, make sure to check the blade for damage too.

well the ct 26 does have seal's and in stead of breaings it use brass bushingd and that is where the shafte play come in


to give it good wiggly grab the shaft and pushs up and down and there should be shaft play if there is not then it has bean reploaced at one point


and if you find shaft5 play use peac of fishing line and if you are closer then that then i whould not push you turbo that much

any of you guys know how to remove the door trim panels? ... i yanked like everything i could think of off today, and it wouldnt pull. i was afraid to yank too hard on the cloth insert cause it started feeling like it was tearing...

getting the lock bezel off was a lot easier than i expected. heard on supraforums that most people just bust if off and buy a new one or put a screw in after its put back together.

as for the claoth in sert it is plan to get off but ti will come off just take you time

i figured it out...

not too hard, like 2 screws by the hinge for the door, another 2 behind the door handle, then like 5 along the bottom of the door and one screw in the door handle (gotta lift the lever outta the way when you lift off the door)

and the cloth has to come off once the door is off the car, pretty simple, just some prongs on the back and a buncha screws for the bottom container thingy..

its gonna look dope :)

as for the cord it s esy to find out if it is toas take you dash off go for cruse around the bloack and find out if it is moveing and if it is not you may have to jack you ass end up and get soem buddy to turn your rear wheels and ajust teh cable on the trans it may be losee and stuff if you got hanys manule it will show you how to do it and stuff

then if you still does not move then it chould be size that when oyu take it out grab drill shoot some oil on the hose and spin away and it might free up don't do to high of speed thou or you wil break it


and if that still not the prob then it chould be the littel gear in you trans might be fucked and such

oh ya, they did have a supra at brentwood salvage, but its pretty much stripped. there is some interior peices left, but its been out in the weather for a long time. anything with carpet is going to be rotted out, but there was still some plastic peices. anyone want a dash, its still in that car, along with a gauge cluster. i didnt see the KMs on the gauge cluster though. he wouldnt let me buy just the clear gauge cover, mines cracked.

ahh finally! i changed spark plug #5, yeah it was pretty easy to get the throttle cables and shit offa there. i was just paranoid before.

i guess i can say im idling a little bitter... the plug that came out of #5 was a mess, didnt look too bad but it definetaly wasnt clean. just took it for a quick burn, and it feels like it definetaly wasnt sparking before.

hrmmm.. im thinking bout getting one of those K&N Breather filters to put on the 3000pipe just to get more airflow happening. this richness at idle cant be good :(

i bought powerslot, they are decent, i wont really know until i get better pads. if you want big brakes, there is a thread on supraforums about a mkiii kit, it provides the hubs and caliper adapters, but you have to buy the actual rotors, calipers, and pads yourself. comes out to around $1000 US, but that an insanely good deal for what your getting. 17" wheels required, 4 or 6 piston wilwood calipers i think.

this will be a fun month or two, im trying not to spend any money so i can get springs and shocks for my car :) then i start saving for rims.

i just built the cardboard prototype of my aluminum cold air box. took me about 20 min. im pickin up some aluminum sheet from the metal supermarket, hopefully have it in by tomorrow night, tuesday maybe. i might go to the autox on thursday, so you guys could see it then. ill build one for you if you want it, for a small cost hehe, although im not sure it would work for murray since he has the lexus afm. maybe if it turns out nice i should sell them on supraforums? lol :D i wonder how much jeff from suprasport will charge for his. probably US$100..... maybe sell mine for US$40? hehe

i ordered that CAI K&N heatshield that just sorta wraps around the FIPK. probably wont get the job done nearly as well as completly blocking the surrounding area like the SS layout, but its better than nothing, and looks really cool :)

that greame kellow or wutevers supra? yeah it sounds like a good deal if its in good condition... if i had a little bit more money id check it out myself, but 10K is just too much to spend on another car.

uhmm.. the stock BOV is usually toast by now, no big deal like a 50 dollar fix, check the brakes, check for rust, check for all the usual stuff, but definetaly check for coolant in the oil, yank the dip stick and take a look. look around the oil cap, is there white looking crusty stuff there? does the coolant light come on inside the car (its the furthest left dummy light, left of the tach and rpm gauge)

if you can, check the car out first thing in the morning, or when it hasnt been started yet. listen for a knock in the engine.

also if the engines been changed, make sure its a 89+ engine, im not really sure how to tell the differences by just looking at it, but its unlikely it wouldnt be since the engine mounts are different in 89+ supras.

hrmm, thats about all i can think of, theres a tip on www.supras.com under "SOGi" about buying a new supra. you might want to check that out.

other then that is like buying any other car

but thing to lookfor is hows the turbo and if there is an play and the bhg thing




ways to find out if it is gone


cooling systme will just blow cold air no heat

after drive air bubbles come from the over flow tank or fome

griggling under the dash (this can all so be that the cooling system was not pergued fully) or crappy termsate

ohh forgot to tell you guys too, i was in sidney today and saw this old couple in their 40's or so with a supra, i didnt know it was a supra at first, i just saw this nose that kept creeping up beside me on the left side of my car.

i looked over to see a white supra and these two old folks, the hatch was so crammed full of stuff it was left open and tied down. i talked to them a bit, asked them about the car and such. it was a 87 NA, they bought it originally in 94 and been loving it ever since, the guy driving the car was like drooling at my car.. haha i guess they'd been travelling all summer in that thing

Now I'm still getting a bit of shuddering, but only up at around 12psi...

My boost controller likes to spike 1-2psi higher and then drop down again, so maybe it's on the verge of hitting fuel cut or something?

Right now it's spooling up to 10psi nice and hard...

which boost controller are you using?

im using the turboXS MBC and it doesnt really spike. the biggest spike ive seen is to 17psi and that only happened once or twice. now its kinda weird, 99% of the time at WOT i hit 15psi, but occasionally i only see 11psi

I bought drjonez' grainger valve MBC for like $15 or whatever ;) Does the job...

I've got about 10" of vacuum hose on each end, that will probably affect things (althoug not as much as the guys who run like 4 feet of hosing into the passenger compartment).

that length of vacuum hose shouldnt cause too much problems. i think ive got a good 8" each way for my MBC, its mounted (or lack of) right by the intake.

once i get the DP and catback on, ill get a cheap MBC to bring boost to around 11-12 psi, just below fuel cut. from the people i have talked to, the one-peice DP raises boost to around 9 psi on its own, with no shimming.

hehe jk man... id say start shimming now, its not gonna hurt anything if you just put 1 or 2 washers on there.

arggh i yanked out passenger seat to get at my amp today, yanked glovebox to get at ECU (to wire into Vf signals) anyhow everything i did didnt accomplish anything. the Vf signal readout from the ECU doesnt have a wire going into it and i couldnt figure a way to force it. so umm, im going straight to the diag. block if i have to.

as for the amp, i just put it back to 360watts x1 instead of 180x2, and running the single JBL 10" instead of that heavy ass box i had before.

still doesnt sound that great, but its better than hauling around a 100lb sub box.
