Teach us the secret :)

I did threaten to cancel and I have bought no new phones. Renewed 3-year contracts for my mum and I and started a 3-year plan for my brother. Also, I have had my line for almost six years and my mum's for over 3. Loyalty and the new line were probably the reasons I had more negotiating power.

I recently was able to get:

250 weekday min.
Unlimited evenings at 6 pm / weekends
Caller I.D.
Voice Mail
Call waiting
Rogers to Rogers
2,500 outgoing texts

$27.45 after all taxes and SAF fees. and a blackberry Pearl with it to boot!

Girl 09-13-2008 05:22 PM

^How did you manage to get that? They're charging me double that. $17.50 for
250 mins
unlimited evenings @6pm + weekends

+$15 for 2500 outgoing texts
voice mail
caller id
call waiting
etc

+SAF + tax = $42ish

+Kardboard+ 09-29-2008 10:53 AM

OK.

EDIT: Updated after work!

I'm not totally impressed with Rogers at the moment, but I don't hate them completely either due to what we're getting now. So, after I thought I had negotiated some baller retention plans, it turns out we weren't getting quite what I had asked for nor was I going to pay what I was told I was going to pay.

For my line:
  • Took out call waiting, 3-way calling and call forwarding, which I had before
  • Plan was not $20 before SAF, 911 and taxes, but closer to $40 (!!!)
For my mum:
  • Took out Rogers to Rogers, which I had asked for and she had before
For my bro:
  • Said that something was coming in the mail, but nothing did for two weeks and then I went to my favorite (read: most convenient to get to) Rogers kiosk store thing at Park Royal and they called in and found out that nothing was coming in the mail and that I had to activate my bro's line through a dealer who would have to do it through DIG...whatever that means
No luck and no time calling in myself, so my mum decided to call in herself during those hours when I'm hyped up on coffee and pounding furiously on my keyboard at work. Called in on Friday and they said they would try to contact the lady who talked to me, as when they checked the memo on my account, it didn't have all the things that I had negotiated for at first. Said they would get her to call us back within 24 hours. Waited two days.

Mum calls back this morning (Monday), tells our sad tale of woe and this rep gave us lots of stuff. :) Here's what (I hope) is what we have in the end after this fiasco:

Me:
  • 250 daytime minutes
  • Unlimited evenings and weekends from 6 p.m.
  • 2500 sent text messages
  • Call waiting, call forwarding, caller I.D., 3-way calling
  • Rogers to Rogers
$23.00 (couldn't get a credit for call forwarding)

+
  • $30 6GB plan
Before fees, taxes.

Mum:
  • 250 daytime minutes
  • Unlimited evenings and weekends from 6 p.m.
  • 2500 sent text messages
  • Call waiting, call forwarding, caller I.D., 3-way calling
  • Rogers to Rogers
$18

Before fees, taxes. Yes, she has the same plan as me but cheaper. wtf? Mum didn't press her luck, but found out that I could change my plan in three months apparently without penalty. We'll see.

Bro:
  • Unlimited local calling for three months
  • 200 daytime minutes (not sure why it's not 250, but oh well)
  • Unlimited evenings and weekends from 6 p.m.
  • Call waiting, call forwarding, 3-way calling
Some Vision plan for $5...sounds like the $20 one from what my mum listed:
  • Unlimited text messaging
  • (12 months only?) Unlimited video calling
  • Unlimited on-device browsing
  • Caller I.D. with Name Display
  • WhoCalled
  • Mobile Backup
  • Enhanced Voicemail
  • 1,000 MMS messages
  • Unlimited MobileMail email
Then,
  • N95-4 for $99
  • $35 activation fee waived
  • SAF waived
  • First month completely free
$25ish
Before 911, taxes.

My head is still spinning from both this and the Americano I have in my hand at work, but hey, I think this is good? I just don't want to have to call in again to deal with this circus. Oh hey! Uncle Ted will be at the Granville Chapters today, maybe I should pop by and give him a piece of my mind and attempt a kick at his tungsten balls. :haha:

"275 (250?) daytime minutes
Unlimited evenings and weekends from 6 p.m.
Unlimited text messaging
Call waiting, call forwarding, caller I.D., 3-way calling
Rogers to Rogers "

All for $23? Shit thats what I Should aim for when my contract is up

cctw 09-29-2008 12:01 PM

i thought 3 way and call forwarding was included in the retention plans

actually i think everyone just gets different credits on their plans....
i got $20 in credits so my retention plan comes up to about $30 including taxes

and i get

250 mins weekday..unlimited after 6pm
caller id
3 way, call forwarding, detailed billing
rogers to rogers
2500 sent msgs

$30 inluding SAF etc

+Kardboard+ 09-29-2008 12:26 PM

Not quite. 3-way calling and call waiting should be included in every plan, but not call forwarding. So I'm told.

Yours is kinda like mine but sans the data? lol

Alphamale 09-29-2008 12:54 PM

I have a pretty sick plan:

200 Daytime Mins
9pm evenings/weekends @ 1000min
Unlimited Network Calling
Unlimited Incoming Calls

$25

+

2500 text
caller ID
VM
...etc (Smartphone Essneital Value Pack)

$15

+ $15 in credits

=

$25 a month, about $36.42 after taxes, and I NEVER EVER go over. It's pretty sweet!

+Kardboard+ 09-29-2008 06:14 PM

Not bad. I updated my plans above after I got a chance to sit down and read through it all. Ai ya!

yuusha 09-29-2008 08:19 PM

I think someone on RFD said that the CSR's cannot give you more credits than the base amount of your plan. Like, my plan is the general 250min/e&w plan @ $20. They give me network calling for free, so $5 credit, and they give me $15 credit for opening a third cell line with them. I add the $20 Communicate value pack, but they can't give me any more credits.

+Kardboard+ 09-29-2008 09:25 PM

Yeah, something like that.

kubrick 10-06-2008 04:26 PM

My plan.. it sounds almost too good to be true but trust me, it is

$40 + SAF + 911 + taxes
- 500 DT minutes
- eve/wknds @6pm
- free fido/rogers network calling
- free incoming
- CID
- VM
- Unlimited txt msgs
- 1000 CDN long distance
- billing by the second

ShyGuy 10-07-2008 02:50 AM

The $18 one your mom has is AWESOME!

She pwned me. :(

unfathomable 10-07-2008 10:03 PM

My is midline, I've done a little better than some but worse than others.

I think it may give some people hope that I was able to get this plan after ~3 months into my 3 year contract.

150 anytime minutes
Unlimited evenings and weekends @ 6pm
Unlimited Fido/Rogers Network calling
+11 Value Pack
125 texts
voicemail
caller id
bunch of other stuff I dont really use

= $31.xx after saf and all other fees thrown in

I dont know if this helps or not, but I am a girl. Being REALLY nice to them definitely helps, you don't have to be bitchy to get what you want =P

It took me a few different calls to get it, and the last woman I spoke to was the one who added all these credits into my account, after I was really nice and chatty with her on the phone.

After about 4 seperate calls to Retentions (I asked to speak to the same agent each time), I was able to get my current plan. I just happened to have a very nice agent who was willing to get me what I wanted. For the no SAF, I mentioned that KOODO customers aren't paying for SAF, why should I. Persistance goes a long way! :D Only thing to make my plan perfect would be network calling instead of just R2R but this would have cost a lot more. However, I rarely go over on my minutes anyways.

I did have to pay $349 for my iPhone though because my plan didn't exceed $30. Oh well!

+Kardboard+ 10-08-2008 08:01 AM

Huh, talked to the same agent eh? That's cool.

CRS 10-08-2008 09:16 AM

I had a really awesome agent but I forget her name.. Starts with an S i believe though..

Is there anyway to trace back to her?
