Hmm, seems pretty good, if my calculations from what you posted are correct, you're paying less than $20 for a voice plan

Either that or you have WAY too much credit towards your account

Combination of credits on both voice and data plan.

I've seen people with $47 in credits a month and I'm definitely no where near that.

Although I'm pretty happy with what I've got sans the dead pixel, slightly used bb bold that was delivered today.

!Yaminashi 12-10-2008 08:55 AM

Whats this $30 value pack that you guys are getting? Is this a new package being offered or only through retentions?

Right now I'm paying $25 for 500mb, and another $15 for the smartphone value pack
which includes:

2500 text msgs
Caller ID
VM
Name Display
Who Called
1000 picture and video messages

Should I try opting for that since I dont really want name display and who called?

Alphamale 12-10-2008 09:02 AM

^Yeah, just call in and ask for the BB (since you're using a Bold) VP $30 with 500mb, 10000txt...etc. You don't need retentions. But if the CSR can't help you, ask them to transfer you to retentions.

Nice, thanks!
I cant believe this value pack was available and I never knew about it until now..

Seems as though I'm being charged an extra $10/month when I dont REALLY have to be

Alphamale 12-10-2008 09:47 AM

It came out on the 26th of november. There's a huge thread on it on the Rogers side of Hofo. It's a good deal, actually. It's a better deal if you can get it with a $10 credit, haha.

!Yaminashi 12-10-2008 10:13 AM

Sweet, so I called in and got the $30 value package, but they told me I'm basically renewing my data plan? Not a big deal since I only freshly renewed a month back :p

So now my plan is as follows:

$20 Retentions Plan
350 daytime
Unlimited weekends & evenings @ 8 pm
Unlimited incoming (Credited)
($5 credit for something)

$30 Blackberry Value Pack
500 mb data
10000 text messages
10000 picture/video messages
VM
CID
(and I think Name Display)

Total is $59.30 after tax

cctw 12-10-2008 01:15 PM

^..so so deal I guess?

mayb you should call into rogers..and transfer to the $45 smartphone plan.

250 mins weekday..
unlim evenings at night
promo choice of either network calling, my 5 canada wide or 5pm early evenings..
comes with the 500mb..

add the $15 value pack and you're all set.

I called into retentions asking about it..and i also added on the $7 for early evenings at 6 in addition to the network calling..

My total was $52 before tax.
I got to keep my $20 in credits..and they woudn't give me the $7 I had for caller ID.

I'm only paying $30 a month right now so I guess I don't wanna pay an extra 30 for just the data and more texts..

I think you can push for more credits like rogers to rogers and texts..they will keep the credits when they transfer you over to the new plan..

Assuming you get to keep the $17 you have now..you'd be paying $48 + taxes instead of $50..+ u get network calling...which I think is better than unlimited incoming..

Well for me its a good deal, I'm spending less than I was when I first got my BB, and I still have the same plan features

If I were to add the $45 smartphone plan + the $15 value pack, I'd be paying more than right now :p

I'd rather have unlimited incoming than network calling, alot of my friends are either on telus or fido

cctw 12-10-2008 01:28 PM

Now I think my account is flagged cos I call in too much..but I called in for a friend today and came out pretty satisfied.

She gets

250 weekday, unlimited evening $20
+ $5 for early evenings at $6
+ $5 for rogers to rogers
+ $10 for unlimited incoming
+ $15 for the CID, voicemail, 10000 texts value pack

-$5 for rogers to rogers credit
-$10 for unlimited incoming
-$7 for CID (i dunno how she managed to keep it on)
-$5 for text messaging (originally I negotiated for the 500 texts plan)

so total is $28 + $6.95 + $0.50 + tax = $39.70

no to mention I did that for 2 plans on the same account + got 2 8gb iphones for $150 each with $35 admin fee waived. (she said it was a retentions offer)

I think I need to tweak my own plan a bit now haha

Oshin 12-10-2008 01:29 PM

just a quick note rogers to rogers is also included with rogers to fido since they rogers bought fido. I've been told by a rep before quite a long time ago.

+Kardboard+ 12-10-2008 03:17 PM

Rogers to Rogers doesn't include Rogers to Fido. Rogers to Fido might include Rogers to Rogers?

JordanLee 12-10-2008 04:25 PM

^Yeah I think Kardboards right. Otherwise its called "Network Calling"

DJ_505 12-15-2008 04:31 PM

called rogers and got an iphone :D
plan:
250mins - 17.50 month
-unlimited after 6pm and unlimited weekends
added my 5 - $10
$30 value pack
-500mb
-visual voice mail
-10 000 text messages
-caller id

That's a pretty decent plan. Did the iphone cost you $199 +tax or did you snag a special offer for it?

DJ_505 12-15-2008 05:42 PM

i got the 16gb one :D
($299 plus tax)

i got the same plan but got unlimited incoming credit and credit for SAF so $53 after taxes

Volvo-brickster 12-19-2008 05:43 PM

i renewed for a 1 year contract...

300 mins
evening / weekends @ 6
vm / caller id/ 2500 text

$35..im happy for now.

L0uie69 12-28-2008 09:54 PM

has anyone tried and was successful in getting a $10 credit on the $30 data value pack? i called today and one of the rep said it only exist for the $20(non data) value pack which was originally $30 but is $20 because of the credit.

I did manage to get the bold for $99 and now im trying to get the prefect plan.. right now im looking at getting the EPP plan + $30 value pack, and it would be sweet if i could get the $10 credit, and maybe even add on a $5 student credit lol.

unit 12-29-2008 10:30 AM

i just got off the phone w/ fido.

i went from paying 87.86 after tax for:
150 daytime mins
evenings/weekends after 7pm
150 outgoing texts
callerID/voicemail/whocalled
fido to fido
free incoming
+
6gb data

to......

$55+tax no SAF no 911 for:
200 daytime
evenings/weekends at 7pm
2500 outgoing texts
callerID/voicemail
+
6gb data

i didnt even have to try.. it was that easy.. im still gonna call back later to re-negotiate 5pm evenings instead of 7pm. also, this didnt change or renew my contract status.
i called and said, im unhappy with my plan, i pay 55 after tax for the voice alone, are there any better plans out there? she offered me the $25 voice plan off the bat.

Hi wondering if anyone can comment on retention plans for Family Plan users?

For a loyal customer for 7 years, perfect payment history...what have you guys gotten from retention? How would I get some -$10 credits that I see you guys have gotten after six months?!?

I'm undecided if I should switch to Telus/Bell after 7 years with Rogers. I've been off contract since 2006 FYI.

Family Plan
600 Shared Anytime Minutes
6pm-unlimit weekends

First phone $45

Bundled value pack - VM/CallID/SMS - $15
SAF/911 - $8

Second phone $20
Value Pack - VM/Call ID - $11
SAF/911 - $8
___________________
Total per month before tax - $104

Now they're offering the same deal saying it's a great legacy plan you don't want to give up... true?

Customer Service offered me BB Curve $199/3 years contract and iPhone 3G $199/3 years... I'm considering upgrading to a $35/500mb data plan value pkg... sell off the 2 phones on Craiglist and recover about $20/month back.. but I'd still be at $55/month per person with data on one.

geeknerd 03-24-2009 04:36 PM

whoa what do i have to say to get plans like you guys.
my current plan is
100/Unlimited Eve/Weekend Plan - $30.00
Unlimited Incoming Local Calls
100 Wkday/Unltd Eve/Wknd
6PM Early Eve. Calling Option
50 Minute Bonus
6PM Early Eve. Calling Option All
$20 Communicate Value Pack

comes to 70$ tax included. seems way high compared to people on here.

in may, i will be passing my 2 year mark of a 3 year contract. what can i do to get cheaper plan? i am also thinking of upgrading my phone if taht helps with anything...

exact same plan I have when I signed up for rogers a few months ago except I don't have my 5. Can't wait till my 3 years is up so I can bs them and lower my bill to $20 or $30 a month :lol

KrAyZiE TRD 03-26-2009 01:04 AM

can you still switch over to a retentions plans if you're still on contract??
