i was only 1.5yrs into my 3 yr contract. whoever allowed me to have retention wasn't thinking properly.

In_MODeration 06-28-2009 11:49 AM

sorry about about reviving the thread but i didnt want to make a new one.

my contract is over in less than a week and im surprised rogers has not called me yet to renew. i thought they called you?

i have gotten a few calls and text messages but the calls were from a third party company and they called me at 12 and so i told them i wasnt available at that time ever, and told them i was only available after 7 and they never called me back (guessing this was because there eastern time and that would be 10 for them).

what i am looking for though is a new iphone 3gs, and maybe a new customized retention with:

lots of text (i currently only have 125 and go over every month) + plus picture text message maybe? (since the new iphone 3gs offers picture messaging)
voicemail (already ahve)
call display (already have)
unlimited incoming (already have)

i dont need that crazy data plan stuff

any tips guys? should i call in? or are they gonna call me after the contract is over?

DJ_505 06-28-2009 01:10 PM

call in and speak with the retentions department
when your talking to them just say stuff like fido/bell/telus has this plan for cheaper so what can you do to make me stay because i like rogers and would prefer to stay with them but if they can't match this plan then I'm going to leave
also say fido has no system access fee ect.

In_MODeration 06-28-2009 01:21 PM

^can i use fido? i thought fido and rogers are the same thing so they wouldnt care

Just read this thread. But you are right. Go with telus/bell.

Seriously. I could have sworn that many members as well as myself have posted exactly what we did.

I never knew you can get them to waive the SAF fee...?

I've yet to hear enough stories about that to validate it. I heard some stories but for the most part, it seems like the majority of people (even on retentions) have to pay SAF + 911.

gabi 07-02-2009 04:42 PM

just called in today to get my Fido retention done, here's what i got:

$25

-200 daytime
-unltd eve/wknd starting at 5pm
-fido to fido
-called ID/voicemail
-2500 txts

I was going to switch to Bell but thought I'd try Fido first. From what I understand, the above plan I have is one the std retention plans they hand out.

In_MODeration 07-03-2009 04:07 PM

Fuck how did u guys get such good plans?

I was offered

$25
250 daytime
unlimited weekends starting at 6
unlimited incoming

plus that 15 value pack with no discount......
1000 text (I wanted more)
mobile backup
unlimited browsing on regular phones
voicemail
caller id

I also had a 5 discount that I got from last time I called in.

45ish with tax

should I accept it? Doesn't sound as good as what u guys r getting
:(

Is it possible to renegotiate after u been offered a deal?

In_MODeration 07-03-2009 04:09 PM

I was trying the nice method (knowing tha rrtentions are human too but didn't really get what I wanted). Should I be more pushy next time?

i have all that and i pay $17.50 a month, plus the $30 6gb data plan, which works out to $64 every month.

BNR32_Coupe 07-04-2009 04:09 PM

wtf i was offered a retention plan from their third party and i couldnt accept the offers at the time since i was busy. i call *611 back and ask to get a 16gb iphone along with a retention plan and they tell me its like ~$350 for existing customers. it's only $199 for new customers.

what kind of bullshit is that? fuckin rogers pisses me off. this is the exact opposite of a retention plan offer

350 with no new contract im guessing
or 350 with no data plan? btw did u ask for a 3gs? there not offering any retention offers at all no matter how much you push and bitch for the new iphone from what ive heard

your right though. rogers pisses me off.

BNR32_Coupe 07-04-2009 04:59 PM

350 with a contract. because i had a cosignor for the entire 3 years i was using the phone, and just switched it over to my name yesterday, im a "tier 1" customer apparently.. even though the bills have been paid from my bank account since day 1.

i was offered a $50 mail in rebate from a third party indian call center dude representing rogers like last week, but i didnt accept his offer because i was too busy to really think it through.

i say fuck rogers, everyone who isn't bound by a contract but still using rogers, do you want them to fuck us around like that? brothers, we must stand up against rogers and tell them to go fuck themselves, and jump ship to fido. fido bills by the second, texts you when you're about to go over minutes, and their plans are half decent. we don't need rogers shit anymore, fuck rogers. lets team up and go over to fido! NOW WHOS WITH ME?!

03aspec 07-04-2009 06:02 PM

you do know that fido is owned by rogers right? rogers makes a dime either way... only thing i am waiting for are these new companies that are supposed to be popping up soon. rogers/fido/telus/bell are all a fucking joke. oh and since you were out of contract with rogers already, why didnt you just go to fido and get a 3g-s for 299? or the 16gb for 199?

thats the plan! ;)

i know fido is owned by rogers lol but fuck rogers they're assholes. fido is like the more liberal, friendlier carrier. you can tell rogers is full of shit just by looking at their company logo. their company logo is a fucking butthole for fucks sake

JKam 07-04-2009 10:47 PM

anyone try to get a reduced rate on data? All I really need is 500mb... I have that smartphone plan for $30 or something. With my $25 retention plan (ultd eve/weekend @6, incoming, network to network with 250 daytime). Total after taxes comes out to be $0ish.

I want to try and push for more than $15 credit towards the smartphone plan!!!

K-Dub 07-06-2009 04:51 PM

just called in today, a day before they start charging for incoming texts..

changed from a corporate plan $18 + $5 + saf + etc (occasional outgoing txt), about 35-36 a month..

to this.

250 daytime
ultd eve/wkend start @ 8pm <could be earlier, but its okay for now
ultd incoming <- credited
CID / VM / 2500 outgoing txt /ultd incoming txt < value pack @ $10, credited

20$ + SAF + 911 + 12%tax = $30.75.

i save $5 on avg compared to old plan, but i now have texting and ultd incoming. so i'm okay with it.

still would like something cheaper, around 23-25$ a month..

K-Dub,

I'm in a very similar position as you were. I'm also currently paying around $36per month on a old Corporate plan. How long did you sign a contract for? Did you get a phone with it? Which & how much was the phone?

Thanks

hey,

I had a year left in the old contract, and to get this new plan I had to renew for another 3 years.

As long as I keep renewing at the end of 3 years, the credits will stay on, or in the future if I'm unsatisfied or want more features, I could possibly phone and get another nicer plan she said.

I didn't bother getting a new phone, but I am available for a hardware upgrade she said. I'm sure it would either be a cheap phone for $0, or a nicer phone for <$100.

Thanks for the info! I was wondering if you would lose the credits after the contract expires. I guess I need to call in and see what I can get! I'll keep y'all posted.
