That's a really good package. How long ago did you get it? Are you a long time customer?

i am planning to get onto a data plan now..
are there any good data retention plans?

also, i got a question about the monthly credit...right now i got a $25 monthly credit and was wondering if i changed my base plan and everything, will i still be getting that credit?

Alphamale 11-24-2008 11:20 AM

^There are no retention plans specific for data short of a credit that they can give you.

If you have a $25 credit right now, you need to make sure to ask them to keep that on there when you negotiate a new plan, otherwise, it will be wiped off. However, you must keep in mind credits usually do not exceed half the value of your plan (before taxes and fees).

racerman88 11-24-2008 07:36 PM

this is what I managed to get when I switched from telus in July.

$25
200 daytime minutes
Evenings starting early at 5pm for $2 extra
Voice mail bundle with 125 texts, caller id, and who called for $1
Unlimited network calling to rogers, fido and rogers home phone
after taxes, system access and fees I pay around $39 per month.

Originally this was supposed to be all inclusive of the $27 plus taxes, but when I got the call from rogers C/S to see how everything was going, they informed me that after my 3 months of unlimited calling, I was going to be charged $11 per month for the voice mail bundle.
The rep that signed me up told me and confirmed with me so many times that this plan would be $27 plus taxes that it was quite the piss off to hear this new news from the C/S rep. When I called the rep who signed me up, he said that I must have misunderstood him and that he never said that the voice mail bundle was included in the package for $27.
It's one thing to say that I misunderstood him, but when even my wife asked him to confirm this on the day I signed the contract, that is ridiculous.
In the end nothing was going to be accomplished talking to him anymore.
I ended up having to call C/S and ask for a manager and I faxed my contract to them. Luckily the rep didn't fill in an amount in the space for the voice mail bundle, so the manager said they would credit me back $10 every month for the voice mail.
I ended up getting the package that I wanted in the end.
I end up saving quite a bit of money b/c most of my friends are either on rogers or fido and I use my phone quite a bit during peak time.
Only other problem now is that I have yet to get a statement that is correct. I have been overcharged everytime so far.
I am hoping for some sort of bonus minutes or something else for all the inconvenience with the billing.

how do can you tell how much of a credit that you can get? i just signed up for the 500mb data with my current voiceplan that has 200 day time minutes and unlimited network calling and evenings starting at 5. i also have a package bundled with call display and texting which is about $11 a month. all of this included is about $84 a month. this is probably too much :(, well compared to the others anyways. i wish it could be cheaper.

If you've got a data plan I'm assuming you're using a blackberry or some sort of smartphone

Get the smartphone value pack. $15 includes the following:

2500 text msgs
Voicemail
Caller display
Who called
Name display
1000 picture msgs

It'll save you a couple bucks. Originally I was paying for texting and VM individually which totalled $17, and I had a credit for Call display

But the manager at rogers told me to get the smartphone value pack when I got my bold, so it saves me two whole doll hairs!

they offered me that, but i didn't want it. i have no use for voicemail, and i find the who called very annoying. only things i needed were the call display and texts which i have, 500 a month is enough for me.

!Yaminashi 11-25-2008 12:25 PM

^I only mentioned it because you're getting more value for your money, compared to you're paying $11 for only call display and text

with the smartphone pack, you're getting numerous items for $4 more
But to each his own I guess

JDMCivic 12-01-2008 11:41 AM

i said "aight cool, how bout a black berry?"

+Kardboard+ 12-01-2008 07:05 PM

Then the bill comes and you'll be screaming bloody murder because they messed. up. :D

JDMCivic 12-01-2008 09:09 PM

when your bill comes, it shows all the 'monthly credit' you get...
so i got a new plan the other day, it's as follow....

$45 smartphone plan

500mb data
200 + 50 bonus minutes daytime
unlimited evenings and weekends starting at 9pm
unlimited network calling

100 canadian long distance mins

$15 smartphone value plan
2500 sent txt
voicemail
whocalled
caller id

monthly credit of $15 for adding the value pack

came out to be $56-$58ish a month i believe?
i also got a bold for $99
she was just gonna give me $10 monthly credit but i kept grilling her...

i'll call back in a month or so and see if i can get more credit..haha

GomGom 12-02-2008 03:11 AM

Jeez... why are you guys got so many daytime minutes compare to Fido retention plan? I will call Rogers CSR soon!

LOL thats exactly what Im gonna do, its been a month since i renewed now im gonna push for some credits
How long have you all been customers for, and how much did you pay on average before your new plans?

Im sure thats got something to do with how you get these ridiculously good plans

+Kardboard+ 12-02-2008 09:30 AM

My plan keeps changing because they keep screwing things up. All I know is, I suddenly have voicemail. :haha:

!Yaminashi 12-02-2008 05:15 PM

So I called in to rogers retentions again, and this time I came out with unlimited incoming calls, I thought I was gonna get nothing :p

Anyway I was using JDMCivic's posted plan as my "working template," right after I mentioned it she started going on about how it shouldnt be that cheap, and that the retentions department will go through any account with too many credited items and audit them, then notify the customer that their account has been changed..

I figured she was bs'ing so I kept bombarding her with questions and asking why some customers have crazy good plans, and what makes them more eligible blah blah

In the end she offered me unlimited incoming:D

JDMCivic 12-02-2008 08:41 PM

good job!

GomGom 12-02-2008 09:38 PM

what is the maximum credit they can give per number/account?
