a bit off-topic,

but for those who are using the iPhone unlocked, does the bluetooth on the iPhone still only pair with bluetooth headsets? Can it do any syncing to a PC or Mac or do any file transfers to other phones via bluetooth?

!Aznboi128 09-26-2007 11:17 PM

bt only works for headsets

anyone got any good games?

+Kardboard+ 09-26-2007 11:19 PM

Lights Off is fun (stuck on level 69 though), I have that Pig Shooter game which is kinda cute, and the NES emulator is getting better everyday.

stuff99 09-26-2007 11:22 PM

how do you sync photos onto the phone?

i can only choose one folder at a time?

jing 09-26-2007 11:24 PM

A bit tempted to buy one just to show off lol, but the fact that it can't read SIM contacts is really keeping me away from it.

Hm, I guess I'll see how well I like the P1 when I get it later this week.

It's pretty self-explanatory in the "Info" tab of the iPhone section in iTunes. For PC you can select a folder, or a folder under your "My Pictures" folder. On the Mac, you can choose folders (if I remember correctly) or rolls in iPhoto.

PNF 09-26-2007 11:33 PM

lol

just wait 1 year or so, when full charge battery will probably only last and maintain half of the usage you are using now.

Apple battery die out pretty fast.

the ipods, which they claimed like 3-5 years of constant usage without much power deterioration. Well, they're wrong.

I am expecting the same thing with iPhone batteries, that they will eventually die out pretty quickly, and you cant even change the battery or get a new one yourself. (well, some may be able to, but most people cant and wont)

besides, for phone usage, why get an Apple when they are not a real cellphone maker

Its like buying a Sony SLR when Sony isnt really known for their camera capabilities. Most SLR enthusiasts/experts would say, get a Canon or Nikon or some others, but not Sony.

Or, its like getting a Gucci watch, when they are not really a real watch maker like say Tag Hauer or Oris, but get Gucci because its expensive and "fashionable"

+Kardboard+ 09-27-2007 12:02 AM

Wait one year? I would have changed phones more than 13 times by then...if last year was any indication. XD

Apple battery problem? Doesn't affect me! :D

AVS_Racing 09-27-2007 02:02 AM

hey has anyone tried if you can plug your iphone into your car and ur car still has the capabilites to control everything like a normal ipod? like change songs, and play videos?

+Kardboard+ 09-27-2007 09:37 AM

I haven't yet, but I hear it doesn't work yet. The new iPods and the iPhone need to detect an Apple-designed signal from accessories before it'll work, so some old docks, pretty much all the old video output devices, and a lot of other stuff don't work. That being said, from the original firmware to 1.01 for the iPhone (1.02 right now), a lot of docks and accessories started working that didn't before, so the new 1.11 update might enable compatibility with more devices.

...at least I'm praying it does. Bought two line-out accessories and they don't work, and I have to use the damned Apple wall adapter to charge it, as no other USB wall adapter will work! At least it doesn't care whether I use an aftermarket cable (I use a retractable one) or not to charge and sync.

stuff99 09-27-2007 10:14 AM

is there a way to turn edge off? I don't use it anyways.

If you don't use EDGE, it's better to go into a Rogers place and tell them to lock Internet access on your SIM, so that you can never accidentally use data. I've had it locked since I first got my first cell lol...and haven't needed to use EDGE yet, so it's still locked. :)

iTrip, probably doesn't work. Retarded, I know. You probably want to poke around with Google and see just which accessories work and which don't, because there are some that DO work.

JKam 09-27-2007 10:44 AM

:( the only thin i use my ipod for is music in the car haha, outside of the car i use the dslite :D

maybe i'll hold off on the iphone... so many factors to consider hahaha

+Kardboard+ 09-27-2007 01:26 PM

Yeah, probably a wise choice.

Don't update to 1.1.1 if you have 1.0.2 and unlocked!

At least for now.

+Kardboard+ 09-27-2007 03:37 PM

Yeah, it seems it blows up unlocked iPhones lol

Let's give the hackers a little bit of time first...heh

AVS_Racing 09-27-2007 04:56 PM

hey for the ppl with the iphone, does playin music slow the phone down? like when u do other things while playin music or when u switch to another song

+Kardboard+ 09-27-2007 05:14 PM

Not at all, but if you're loading up a pretty big page in Safari, or doing anything else that'll require a lot of memory (some games), the iPod program will close.

only thing i like is the tv out

+Kardboard+ 09-27-2007 11:07 PM

Yeah, I hope that adding TV-out might solve my audio line-out problems too.

threezero 09-28-2007 12:23 AM

so i just got my self one of these shinning toy.. unlock it myself and lovin it. However is there any free programs out there that can add custom ringtone to the fone besides paying for iphoneringtonemaker? and any free video converter that will convert all files i have codecs for (rm most importantly) to mp4 iphone format for freee????

i already pay 430 for the fone i ain't paying for more softwares

+Kardboard+ 09-28-2007 12:41 AM

Ringtones are easy to add, just turn on WiFi and SFTP into your iPhone and put them in the \Library\Ringtones folder. Can be any audio format the iPhone supports, but can't have Asian characters in the filename (go figure, works for the iPod app). Converter...I use MediaCoder. Use the iPod profile then change the resolutions for the videos depending on the aspect ratio: 320x240 for regular, 480x272 for 16/9 widescreen.
