whats the best case for this thing? without making it look ugly (silicone ). the combination of steel and skinny side makes the phone slippery.

The Customize app has a few folders that you can put your custom stuff in. You probably want to Google that stuff up yourself, and you'll need to use WinSCP or Fubu (if you're on a Mac) to get into the iPhone and add your files.

what's the procedure for unlocking a 1.1.1 firmware phone?

There is a free program called SUPER. Its pretty awesome. Converts pretty much a video to any format you want.

I'll post the link for the converter once I get home.. can't remember the name. Converts to mp4, then just sync with itunes.

i'm using videora on my pc, its simple to use and free. i've converted 2hr long movies and 30min shows without any problems.

can anyone post up the link for those free convertor?

You can always buy it off the Apple website and have it shipped to Point Roberts. You're going to have to wait a few days unless you get the 2 day shipping for $10 or next day shipping for $16. Unless you plan on doing other shopping in Seattle, I'd just do that and save my gas hah

For mac users, i use iSquint to convert to mp4 so my iPhone can read it....

and yeah, if you go to the States and buy an iPhone, there shouldnt be any problems unlocking it. However, the easiest solution to activate/jailbreak/ssh/unlock is on a mac using the newest version of iNdependence (1.2.3) with AnySim 1.1 (free) or iPhoneSimFree for ~$65

i dont think there has a been a gui made up for unlocking virgin 1.1.1 iPhones on a PC yet...

Just make sure you call your credit card company and tell them to add an alternate address for you. Explain that you buy a lot of goods from the US that require a US address.

I just used "tsbshipping.com" and their address and phone number. You need the phone number because Apple will ask for it.

TSB is further down Tyee Drive but from what I've heard, it is much cleaner and more organized then TLC. They also have an inventory check where you'll be emailed after the package arrives. You need to sign up for it on their website

You don't need the phone number most of the time but Apple won't let you continue if you don't enter a US phone number.

I take it virgin means its not a 1.0 upgraded to 1.1.1 ?

meaning this new 1.1.1 unlocking is only for 1.1.1 phones not 1.0 phones upgradedt o 1.1.1 firmware. true?

EDIT: also is there any difference at all between the new firmware and the old?
