I'd prefer to have him over the sedins, mainly because i find the sedins very boring to watch, but that trade will never happen anyway. |
dammit had the sundin dream |

i see kovalchuk more as a gamebreaker. the sedins are more consistent, whereas kovalchuk can just go off one night and get like 4 points. i know the sedins have done so in the past as well, but more likely in games that we more or less dominated the other team. kovalchuk on the other hand, wins those much needed games that we tend to lose by a goal. kovalchuk, like sundin, is one of those players that has the potential to carry a team on his back during those desperate times. |
is kovalchuk a native? |

Players like Zetterberg or Sundin can carry a team on his back. |
he does so in his own way. when his team is down by a goal or two, he can be the one that brings them back. even when atlanta had nobody, kovalchuk still kept them in it, somewhat. and the canucks are not the thrashers. we have one of the most sound defensive cores in the league coupled with arguably the best man between the pipes. we are not gunna be paying the man to play defense. zetterberg may be one of the best defensive forwards out there, but he is far from able to carry a team. he needs datsyuk as much as henrik needs daniel. and i'm sure lidstrom played no small part in their plus/minus success. |

wtf, Kovalchuk is Russian. Gino Odjick is native. Toronto has no good players, Sundin can lead. Detorit's a stacked team, can't really compare it the same way. The whole Kovalchuck and Sedins thing, like most have mentioned, Kovalchuck's a gamebreaker. He can't carry a team on his own, but he won't be on his own if he's with the Canucks. When the team is down by a goal, I can picture him flying down the ice coast to coast and getting the tie. I cannot picture Sedin doing anything to that degree. Trading two players for one seem like an insane idea, but most of the Sedins's points rub off from each other anyway. If you took one away, the other wouldn't be getting the same amount of points per season. |
Sundin squashes rumour he's made decision: http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/capress/0...undin_s_future |
