what would lead you to believe that demitra would be the captain? if anything, it would be sundin. yes, he would probably receive scrutiny like he did when he took the "C" in toronto, but sundin has the qaulities. besides, would you want a captain who can get injured at anytime?(and no, i don't have anything against demitra). of course mitchell may still end up being the prime candidate for captaincy over those 2

I agree.

Demitra has also worn the C and A during times with the Wild.

I believe Minnesota was rotating captains for a while but I believe Rolston was their captain for the majority of the year.

Speaking of captains. If Sundin or Demitra sign in the future will either wear the C or A? I would assume Sundin would wear an A.

This season is definately going to take some getting used to (in regards to players lost and found).

Bringing in Sundin would be great for the development of the Sedins IMO.

Is there any truth to a rumour I read on another forum that Sundin is in Vancouver right now?

yes. he's in vancouver right now. but that has been reported a couple weeks back. so this isn't a surprise visit. it is scheduled.

 Yea I'm sure he planned a trip out here from Sweden before the Canucks even made an offer to him.

Roach 07-07-2008 11:23 PM

If it is scheduled, what exactly is he doing here? IIRC, as of July 1st, he was in his hometown in Sweden?

if we sign demitra and bring in sundin, our pp would be pretty lethal. I would definitely be interested to see demitra on the same line as the sedins to see what kinda numbers they would put up.

Ch28 07-08-2008 12:15 AM

Demitra is suppose to sign tomorrow so we'll see.

don't think demitra + sedins would be that great...
i'd much prefer if demitra was paired with sundin.

AzNightmare 07-08-2008 12:54 AM

Beh, nothing to get so excited yet. We have no idea how Demitra will be like on this team.
And I still think Sundin's chance of wanting to play for Vancouver is low.

Harvey Specter 07-08-2008 12:56 AM

Demitra was awful last season but that been said I think he'll be a good fit in the overall scheme of things.

true...

i think demitra's past his prime already... i seriously hope they dont sign him ....

Ronin 07-08-2008 02:45 AM

Mo went to Anaheim?

bossxx 07-08-2008 06:02 AM

Yup 10char

Roach 07-08-2008 06:47 AM

Unfortunately, assembling a first line with players who have had successess in the past does not guarantee they will have chemistry here.

It's a gamble.

Which is why getting all upset about not getting mid-grade UFAs is silly, too... would it have been nice to see Marian Hossa with the Sedins? Sure... maybe. There might have been no chemistry and all three might have tanked.

stuff99 07-08-2008 08:59 AM

we lost more than we gained...mo and naslund dont get enough respect in this market for sure

Roach 07-08-2008 09:17 AM

Bottom line is, we lost what... 32 goals from the two of them?

Respect is earned. And 32 goals for $9 million combined salary is not going to gain them much respect around these parts.

Kev

stuff99 07-08-2008 10:53 AM

well u can look at ppg and compare their ppg to other salaries in the nhl....

Selanne_200 07-08-2008 10:58 AM

And i don't think sakic's name gets mentioned enough for the numbers he still puts up

AzNightmare 07-08-2008 10:58 AM

Now that Canucks lost Morrison and Linden, who's goign to be the shootout specialist?

Tim Budong 07-08-2008 11:11 AM

theres really no point trying to go after sakic..even if vancouver is where he is from
truth is..and everyone in the league knows this

he either stays in denver or retire..
thats it

sigh...i really wanted to see Mo back...and given the C

akyr 07-08-2008 11:13 AM

Ohlund is willing to help lure Mats Sundin!!

"If Mats calls, trust me I will put in a good word for the team," Ohlund chuckled Monday from his summer home in northern Sweden. "I haven't spoken to him or the Canucks or anybody regarding him. Maybe I should call him. I don't know if it would help or not. I guess it couldn't hurt."
