Point being is besides getting all excited right off the bat, slow down and think first. Trading both Sedins for him could be the very best move. I'm just saying at least take consideration on some factors. Including if he will fit with AV's coaching. That being said, I wouldn't miss the Sedins if they do get traded for him. But this is all just trade rumors anyway.

cspec 07-09-2008 06:43 PM

i'd trade sedins for kovalchuk anyday.
he's one of those crazy players the canucks need again...

Expresso 07-09-2008 07:03 PM

Really? When Kovalchuck is slumps he slumps, wasn't the year before he only got 76 points or something, the sedins can do that each!

Probably a press conference for the Demitra signing is my guess.

cspec 07-09-2008 07:04 PM

^ the sedins would never be able to notch 76 points by themselves, and also, they don't have the tenacity as kovalchuk does.

RRxtar 07-09-2008 07:06 PM

new jerseys wouldnt be a presser, they would be a fassion show planned a month in advance.

6thGear. 07-09-2008 07:28 PM

im not getting excited off the bat. iirc, i said, that would be a bold move. read the last page. seriously, doesn't ANYBODY read previous pages b4 posting? whats the worst case senario? he is still very much in his prime.

if kovulchuks worst is 76 points in his nhl career. thats still top 3 scoring on the canucks roster. your comparing the sedins best seasons to kovulchuks worst? and its still pretty close in points

No offense, but I seriously don't recall what you typed in the last page. I generally don't remember specific posts with specific RS members...
But anyway, I never directed my initial post toward you or anything.

They sedins have producing 70+ points in the last 3 seasons, in the '06-07 they both got over 80 pts so anything is possible. I'm just saying you replace 140-160 points for 1 guy that produces 80+ points, where are you going to fill in the rest of the gap? IMO anyways...unless someone steps up big in place of the twins.

hi5-ive 07-09-2008 08:46 PM

wait and see

agentcloud 07-09-2008 08:49 PM

didn't they throw bananas on the ice when Brashear was playing in Europe?

i said, by themselves. ie. if they were broken apart.

I hate all this hype and anticipation...

Its BS. Just give us the god damn news already or just STFU and don't tell us about any of it.

clowe 07-09-2008 09:23 PM

Kovalchuk got 42 goals and 76 points playing with scrubs on the 2nd line in 06-07.

goo3 07-09-2008 09:32 PM

Kovalchuk will cost Sedins + more.

And teh Sedins pass to themselves so their pt totals are a little inflated. How many goals can they bring compared to Kovalchuk?

edit: actually who's better at creating offense when it actually matters in the playoffs and the defenses are tough?

ooooo really good point there. Under the circumstances, id rather have the sedins than Kovalchuk just cause there both combined make about the same as him. Right now we'd have to spend an extra 2-3mil on a player to play with him. If the sedins were making 5.5mil each, then id make that trade cause Kovalchuk + player will score more goals than Daniel and Henrik.

Trade or No Trade, Sedins or Kovalchuk, id be happy with any scenario to be honest.

Big announcement from MG tomorrow. Might involve Nylander.

He had the shoulder issues last year but was almost point a game for the games he did play. 83 and 79 points the two seasons before that. He is a center though so if they did sign him I'm guessing the Sundin offer is off the table? 3 years left on his deal in Washington and his cap number is 4.85m.

If there is any truth to that rumor I'm not sure what I think about it. I guess it would depend what they would give to get him, he's only a couple years younger then Linden.

ForbiddenX 07-09-2008 10:08 PM

Could they be announcing the new captain tomorrow?

mako 07-09-2008 10:10 PM

Nylander is another Gillis ex-client no?

Nah...they already said they'll announce the new captain before or after training camp.

I wouldn't want Nylander on our team. His high point totals over the past several seasons were highly inflated because of Jagr in New York. Why else would I have picked him in my hockey pool? :D
