i dont think the opposing coach looks at the line up and says "oh damn, we cant play our shut down D against the sundin line because they are the second line! cleaver Alain he did it again"

6thGear. 07-10-2008 06:39 PM

lol. im sure too! just some people keeps thinking the twins are gonna play first line, and sundin should play 2nd line. doesn't make sense. anyway. we should wait and see if sundin's gonna sign first

i just put the sedin line up top just cause that line is basically written in stone imo. but i know the Sundin line will be #1 and the Sedins will score alot more since they dont have a checking line against them.

Our 2 top lines are stacked. The New WCE era is gonna begin, and hopefully bring a cup.

So we will have .69 million in cap space left if Sundin decides to sign? Wouldn't that be $690,000 and not 69k like some of you are saying?

We have 10.069m in cap space, so 69k :haha:

d1 07-10-2008 07:34 PM

alright - just making sure. someone said 10.69 million earlier.

goo3 07-10-2008 07:48 PM

do players sent down count against the cap?

doubledouble 07-10-2008 08:17 PM

but sundins salary is half bonus so will not count on cap space? correct?

Bonuses count towards the cap as well. Take Ovechkin for example, his rookie contract had a base amount of 0.984m per season with a 2.85m bonus, his cap hit was 3.834m. I think there may be a rule where we can go over the cap limit cause of the bonus but I'm not sure by how much. I don't know the exact rule on that but I do recall something like that

Hi_Im_Mike 07-10-2008 08:40 PM

So whatever happened to that annoucement Mike Gillis was gonna make today that was important enough to reschedule team 1040? The Pavol Demitra signing?! that's it? God...

doubledouble 07-10-2008 09:06 PM

thats a pretty important announcement think of what would of happend if we didnt sign demitra....
Well I am wondering if signing demitra will attract Sundin to the picture

If that was the case, all teams would just pay their players through bonuses and just enough salary to meet the lowest amount of the salary cap.

Soundy 07-10-2008 11:04 PM

Did I miss some math?

We had $20M+ of cap space at the start of free agency... Demitra is getting $4M; Bernier is taking $2.5M, so there's $6.5M. If Sundin takes $10M, that leaves $3.5M... I know there are a couple of other minor pickups in there, but three-and-a-half mill worth?

Seamo 07-10-2008 11:12 PM

trade pyatt away man, hes the cancer of the team. never liked that guy.

6thGear. 07-10-2008 11:17 PM

me:do yo know who taylor pyatt is?
girl: OH YEAH!!! he's that dreamy guy who plays for the canucks

Yup, I agree with you but I wouldn't call him the 'cancer of the team'...

.....

Losing Salo only leaves us with 1 point shot on the blue (Edler). Ohlund is only so-so, and Mitchell, Krajicek and Bieksa (as of now) aren't really threats at the blue line.

I prefer keeping him and ideally would prefer more D-men with strong point shots to open up the ice down low for the forwards. Salo, shot or no shot will almost always require an opposing player to play high on the D.

Ch28 07-11-2008 12:41 AM

Salo is injury prone and I'd like to see him shipped off. He has a NTC though so that really limits who we can trade to. Bieksa doesn't have a NTC so that's the main reason why people want him traded.
