Like that's ever gonna happen, unless we throw in like a kesler for a 2nd round pick coming back the other way.

actually, what am i talking about! I wouldn't even do that because of what Ovechkin can bring to the table. Not just the points but the intensity, which the sedins will NEVER be able to match

More like Sedins + Kesler + 1/2/3 round picks

Ovechkin >>>>>>>>>>>>>> *

Razor Ramon HG 07-08-2008 07:32 PM

Even if we offered Luongo, I doubt Washington would take it.

Hondaracer 07-08-2008 07:36 PM

Kovulchuck would not flourish as he does with ATL on a western confrence team imo

I would have to agree since the style of play is a trap rather then a wide open game which is more common in the east.

can't negotiate an extension until you're in the final year of your deal. for example; sedin's are about to enter the final year of their contract, until the season starts, they can't sign a new contract. they can start the process, but they can't make it official.

before we signed bernier, we were right around the minimum. cap space isn't a worry (until/unless we dump the 10m down the drain with sundin) especially when you consider the sedin boys make 3.575 each ($7.15m) in this upcoming season being the final year of their contract (they'll get a raise for '09-'10), kovalchuk makes 6.4m and is locked in until the end of the '09-'10 season.

he was quoted as saying that he won't follow demitra.

I'd take Kovalchuk in a heartbeat. As good as the Sedins are, they will never be as good as Kovalchuk, and they're simply too easy to stop. Besides, he's younger and a lot grittier than the Sedins

Sedins too easy to stop? Thats why they put up a PPG each in the much tighter checking west? Kovalchuk is gritty? LOL

Uh...only Daniel has had 1 PPG season and that was last year when he had 84 points.

Razor Ramon HG 07-08-2008 08:51 PM

Yeah, because the other teams don't pay nearly enough attention to the Canucks as they should. In the playoffs, the Sedins are unnoticed because the other team simply stops their cycle. Stop the cycle, stop the Sedins, simple as that.

And have you seen Kovalchuk play? He doesn't easily get knocked around, fights for the puck, and can dangle defenders. He's a unpredictable player, he might shoot one shot, and rush to the net the other, that's why he's currently one of the top NHL players.

Tim Budong 07-08-2008 08:56 PM

i dont think minny will trade with the canucks
ur trading ur own guys to the same division
bad move on all accounts

Razor Ramon HG 07-08-2008 08:56 PM

He'll be a UFA after the upcoming season, so we'll see.

not to mention a lethal slap shot. He has a drive to win, maybe alil cheap but hey, if hes playin for us he can play that way all he wants. Hes probably like the evil version of Ovechkin

sorry, I should have put ~PPG. With a decent linemate theyre easily ppg players, they basically are as is playing with nobodies. Theyre 0.934 (Daniel) and 0.943 (Henrik) point per game players over the past 3 seasons, the first of those playing 2nd line minutes...

doubledouble 07-08-2008 10:37 PM

Demitra signs with canucks 4 mil a season

cspec 07-08-2008 10:56 PM

^ are they reliable?

hypediss 07-08-2008 11:02 PM

sedins + bieska for kovalchuk + bogosian

THAT would be such a fantasy dream come true

6thGear. 07-08-2008 11:07 PM

i said that a few months back. someone pointed out that gaborik will never leave the wild. i seriously think no one actually reads all the posts first.

that would be a bold move

IMO, that would leave us with only one line.

Kovalchuk + Demitra.

Then what?

Kev

hypediss 07-08-2008 11:13 PM

i hope the demitra signing is not official yet....

signing him for 3 years +_+

cspec 07-08-2008 11:16 PM

damn..
imagine

demitra + gaborik on one line
and sudin + kovalchuk on the other

if only we had unlimited cap space... lol

haha my bad, dunno how the ' got in there :p

I would do a Sedins for Kovalchuk trade. Kovalchuk might be the game-breaker that this team needs.

When it matters most, Daniel has 18 pts in 43 playoff games, Henrik has 20 pts in the same 43. They also went cold down the stretch this season when we were trying to make the playoffs.

clowe 07-08-2008 11:26 PM

Someone made this edit on Gaborik's wiki page:

Quote:

On July 8, 2008, it was reported that Marian Gaborik had been traded to the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for defenceman Kevin Bieksa, left winger Mason Raymond, a 2009 1st round draft pick, and a 2010 4th round draft pick. This has been told to us (Wiki) by many hockey sources. It might be announced very soon.
:haha: :haha: :haha:
