Farve traded. Now we're back to only one standoff in sports.

Roach 08-07-2008 01:13 PM

^ lol.

Truthfully, the Sundin issue has become extremely drawn out. There are only three scenarios:

1. Sundin retires - Fans are angry it has taken him this long to decide. Teams are in limbo as many have paused roster moves pending the outcome of his decision. Training camp approaches and GMs of the teams involved scramble to improve their teams.

2. Sundin returns, but with another team - Canucks fans are outraged that Sundin has made the club wait this long. Most free agent moves and trades have already occurred and Sundin's indecision has put the Canucks in a bad position before training camp.

3. Sundin signs as a Canuck - The city puts tremendous pressure on him to perform as there has been considerable anticipation from fans in having him sign. Sundin doesn't live up to expectations and fans start chanting "Messier" at home games as Sundin collects his $20 million and hangs up the skates.

What would you guys want at this point? Personally, I'd feel better if he were to not sign here and we used the cap space elsewhere down the line (closer to training camp) and try to take advantage of desperate teams trying to fit within cap limitations. Will we get other team's scraps? Likely. But if the cost is low enough, enough scraps could put together a very good team.

4. Sundin re-signs with the Leafs, making it clear that this waiting game was perpetrated only to screw over Toronto's rivals by causing them to pass up other signing and trading opportunities until it's too late.

Sundin is then mysteriously a "healthy scratch" whenever the Leafs visit those cities...

Roach 08-07-2008 02:23 PM

^LOL.

I would only believe that scenario if the Leafs had a chance this year.

Harvey Specter 08-07-2008 03:25 PM

Sundin rumors are like the crap we went through with Forsberg. I bet he still wants to sign with the Leafs.

Hondaracer 08-07-2008 03:57 PM

^ supposidly in T.O no one is even talking about mats, everyone has accepted they are moving on, kinda like a greenbay situation, they are moving in a new direction

bossxx 08-07-2008 04:48 PM

Comments like this are useless..

And it gives the impression he either a) retired or b) signed w/ another team.
