On mine the gps located in about 5-10 seconds but I have the UK version. I dont know if that makes a difference or not.

before you root, type into the phone

*#SIMLOCK#

that will tell you if the phone was even locked at all.

Has anyone tried these screen protectors? Any thoughts?

SGP Samsung Galaxy S2 Screen Protector Series - GALAXY S2 - Samsung - Cell Phones

I'm thinking of going for the Ultra Optics one since it seems to be in the middle between optimal screen clarity and being anti-glare/fingerprint due to the matte screen. Only thing is it's 15.99 + shipping.

Don't get matte screen protectors if you care about the vibrancy of the colours. It'll reduce it by a noticable amount.

SpuGen 07-22-2011 10:53 AM

Sooo... anyone get it from Costco?
Thinking of heading to the one off Willingdon after class since it's like 2 blocks away.

Anybody know if they have it there?

Can anyone comment about the music player experience and the sound quality vs iPod app on the iPhone4?

Armind 07-22-2011 11:15 AM

Also the battery life vs. iPhone4?

iphone has better battery.

SG2 plays 940x600 video with no problems. goddamn beautiful.

cannot dim as much as iphone to. melt your eyes at night even on lowest setting.

audio quality is lacking VS iPhone 4 IMO. 5.1 sound on SG2 is fucking aweful with earbuds on.

true

Just that from watching videos and reading comments some people have said that the material for the ultra optics isn't exactly the same as your typical matte screen protector.

I'm hoping this suggests it doesn't affect clarity as much while still providing anti-glare/fingerprints properties.

I'll probably just bite the bullet and try it out I guess...

!Yaminashi 07-22-2011 01:02 PM

Regardless, matte screen protectors will still never be as clear as typical glossy ones

jeff19 07-22-2011 01:06 PM

lol ever heard of sgp's ultra optics? the next generation matte screen protectors. the only thing you're loosing is a bit of brightness, if anyone wants to order one (2 in a pack) and split with me lemme know! haha

Oleophobic 07-22-2011 01:15 PM

that's the one I was talking about.

I did find this video where the guy compared the Ultra Optics one with the older anti-fingerprint matte one and he seems to state that while the original anti-fingerprint screen protector dulls the retina display (iphone 4) from 100% to 80%, the Ultra Optics is probably at 95%.

Haven't found a comparison for the SGS2 though but it's the same type of protector so I'm not sure if you would get drastically different results for super amoled plus vs retina display

Here's the link to CFRoot. Just follow the steps to root and then get the unlocker from the market.

Also make sure you do the option 1 to backup your EFS folder. As well make sure you have multiple copies of this folder backed up because this holds your IMEI in encrypted format. Once lost you're screwed.

Yet another "Improve your SGS2 sound quality" thread. Just try it once already! - xda-developers

Poweramp improves the sound quality and with headphones the sound is amazing.
