Probably not a fair question to ask the people that had the phone for less than 24hrs. You need remember that the new users are probably playing/tinkering with the phone a lot more than they would with an iPhone that they've gotten used to. I've had my UK import since May, and I'm still playing with it a lot with an average 2-2.5hr screen-on time per day. I don't know what an iphone gets, but I get roughly 16-18 hours now with about 30% to spare before plugging it in for bed. When i first got it, i was getting maybe 10-12 hours per charge? But that was with over 3hrs of screen on time with CPU intensive games, benchmarks, videos, etc. If i didn't listen to music at work for 3+ hours a day, i think my battery life would be even better. When both CPU cores ramp up to 1.2Ghz, paired with its SAMOLED + screen its pretty power hungry. In fact, it will discharge faster than it can charge at those speeds. So keeping the CPU usage and screen brightness down is crucial for good battery life. Luckily the SAMOLED+ screen still looks amazing at low brightness levels. Overall, I think the battery life is great for a powerful smartphone. This phone can play 1080p videos that my laptop can't. Definitely the best I've seen from any Android phone. I really don't see the facination with people wanting more than day's worth of battery life. Most of us probably only have 14hr days, before we go to bed and plug it in. As long as it lasts long enough for me to get through my day without topping it up mid-day, I'm a happy camper. |

Love it. LOL I just grabbed one of the custom ROMS from XDA and flashed it with ClockWork Recovery. Using VillainRom now http://www.mikroft.com/gallery/d/399...722175519.jpeg |
I am having troubles haha !MiKrofT or Turbo_E when i try to unzip Odlin3 it gives me an error and does not load on my laptop....were u using windows 7 or XP??? and do I need to download superoneclick? EDIT: ok nvm I got Odlin to load....now lets see if I can do the rest Ok i think its all good except how do I back up my EFS file? |
yes you need superoneclick to instal superuser or some shit like that. AND you need to get your phone into DOWNLOAD MODE. do that by turning off the phone then hold power+home+volume DOWN (hold all 3 buttons together) until a green android appears. then odin should work. using Win7 ultimate 64 bit. |

Would you guys recommend me selling the iPhone/trade with cash on top for this phone? OR Wait till iPhone 5 comes and see whats up with that. (value of my phone will drop) Would you guys prefer this phone > iPhone 4? |
for me its hard to say. i still love the iphone and its the 3rd one for me. however its getting boring. more speed and a better camera are not enough to make me stay or upgrade to IP5. that said i sold my 3GS and gave the Wife my IP4. spent too much on Apps to give up totally yet. however i will say this, the SG2 walks all over the IP4 in almost all respects. |
Are there any great apps for webmail on the Android? Heard it sucks.. and only Gmail is good. |
ok how do i update the Firmware? Kies says cannot update. |

The only way for you to update right now is via custom ROMs, and I highly advise you take this route if you don't mind getting your hands a little dirty. The Android community and development is amazing, and I always encourage everyone to at least try it. I personally use Villain ROM 2.1, which is based on 2.3.4. [19/7][XXKG2] VillainROM 2.1 for SGS2 < The ROM Noonski couldn't drain the battery on - xda-developers Instructions are in post#2 Villain ROM 2.1 download link is in post#5 (should redirect you to the developer's own forum) PS: You should know that the first time you boot up ANY ROM right after flashing it takes a long time (allow 10-15min) because of all the customizations and scripts that need to run to complete installation...so don't panic, thinking you did something wrong. Since you just got your phone, you're most likely following steps 1-4. step#4 says it's optional, but I highly recommend you do it....update the Modem to match everything as Samsung intended when they released 2.3.4. When you're all booted in, I suggest you get VRTweaks so you can install some cool mods: (updated) VillainTweaks v1.3.1 (29/May)) Since this appears to be your first Android device, here's a little hint if you plan on trying out all the different ROMs available to you. Purchase "titanium backup" from the market (root required): You'll want this and this for the key to unlock the pro version. What this essentially does is backup all your apps and data so you don't have to worry about wiping your data when you try different ROMs out. It also allows you to "freeze/unfreeze" system apps, which is essentially safely removing bloatware bundled with some ROMs. If there is ONE app you should ever purchase and not pirate, it's Titanium backup...trust me on this..lol. (he added a market check-in to prevent people from pirating the app). Read this for more info on it's features and how to use it, |

Superoneclick not needed. All I did was flash cfroot kernel in download mode. The flashing of CFroot addes superuser for you. Then run unlock. |
Is there any keyboard where it is similar to the iPhone in which you can go from English to Chinese pinyin to Chinese handwriting and back? The stock one can't do this and neither can any of the keyboard I found on the appmarket. Maybe I am missing something, any suggestions? |
All this rooting, can someone explain what rooting means =/ |

Maybe somebody with a stock Bell SGS2 wants to work with a developer on XDA to create a system dump. I'm not sure how to do this. If anybody is interested in trying to help out the community, I would try to contact Intratech From VillainRom2.1 post#1: Quote:
