Whether just flashing the ROM and Kernel is enough for warranty, I don't know.

There is also a flash counter that counts how many times you flash something via download mode. So they can easily check that if they know how.

I just noticed the flash counter when I was restoring my phone. It can be reset but only with a jig.

i will trade a 9700 and a 9800 for a galaxy 2.

And cash too or an ssd or 6 gb of ram (check trading forum)

Tested the phone out at shine. the camera is nice. i have yet to use that hack to increase the bitrate from 16mbit to 26...... i cant comprehend the quality that would entail

raysquared 07-24-2011 03:41 PM

Heard from a friend who works with cell companies that Rogers will be receiving a non-dual core galaxy2 next week. The dual core version will come out at the end of the year.
There better be no truth to this.

Anjew 07-24-2011 04:03 PM

ya its called the infuse.... its a 4.5 inch screen.

dual core processor > 0.3 inch larger screen.

Psykopathik 07-24-2011 04:32 PM

Holy crap have you tried the panarama shot on the camera?

Essentially it's a cheaper SGS2. Qualcomm single core 1.2ghz, 4.5" samoled plus, 720p, all capacitive buttons.

The rest is the same.

You're missing one of the most important things...Touch Wiz 4.0. For me, one of the main reasons why I chose the SG2 was because Touch Wiz 4 brought HUGE improvements and changes from the generic Gingerbread that I was used to from my Nexus One and Nexus S phones.

In fact, I think the Infuse is only Android 2.2! So even though it doesn't have Touch Wiz 4, it's also running Froyo...HUGE differences.

Well, played with this phone all weekend. still not sure if i'll keep it.

Im on the fence here. something just doesnt feel right about it to me. so different than iOS. doesnt feel as polished as my iphone. videos look amazing tho.

Sad. i already ordered extra batteries, a charger and case for it.

Stop ordering extra accessories and sell the phone to me! It sucks and you're better off getting rid of it right away. I'm a nice guy so I don't mind having a shitty phone.

On a side note, iPhone fanatics will need some time to get adjusted to Android. But one thing is for sure, the phone is definitely a lot more customizable and interactive than the iPhone. I like having weather forecast, news and calendar events all on my home screen rather than having to open up a folder or application and wait for it to load.

lol. The first thing I did was replace touchwiz.

I don't think it can be as sharp. I mean pixels make a big difference here. However that being said the new screen is noticeably sharper than my galaxy s. Due to the new way of pixel arrangement they used.

Oleophobic 07-24-2011 11:01 PM

was using litening rom v2.2 for a while (opted for 2.2 since according to comments on xda there are problems with 3.1 and 2.2 was most stable).

did a nandroid backup

flashed villain rom
mucked around for awhile
realized i wasnt a big fan of it

restored nandroid backup

OMG so amazing everything back the way it was! texts, apps, email accounts, etc.

lol yes I know this is nothing new to a lot of you guys but fuck I'm so amazed!

Yuffa 07-25-2011 12:10 AM

I'm a little on the fence about it after a couple days too. It's nice and skinny but size its just a bit too big for me. The keyboard does suck and I can't copy words that are not in an input box. Graphics is very pretty and performance is really fast but the battery also drain pretty damn fast...

I donno...should probably sell it before prices keep dropping. Any takers for $600 3 day old?

lol I think you and I have had this discussion before. The thing is, it all comes down to personal opinion. X may like Sense U.I. and Y may like Vanilla but that doesn't make one better than the other. What does make something better is having the most flexibility and options.

For example, it's hard to get Sense ported and working perfectly fine to a phone that doesn't come with it standard. Diddo (not dildo) for Touch Wiz and all the widgets that come with it. So for those who like these roms, the best way to get them is by buying phones with them. For those who don't, they can simply flash to something vanilla. But if you want Touch Wiz you can't smoothly port that over to another phone.

On a side note, one thing I wish they had done with the Galaxy S 2 is make that middle home button a trackpad style button. Similar to the current Berry Bold...It's really helpful when you're scrolling through text rather than touching the screen.

Armind 07-25-2011 12:35 AM

I don't know if i should get this phone right now or wait for ip5 to come out. Any suggestions. :fulloffuck:

u can copy text thats not in the input box..hold the word, it will hilight, then drag the arrows and hold it again, it will then confirm with copied to clipboard

iphone 5 hasn't been announced.
and even after that, you'll have to wait for it to be released.
then good luck getting it.

people were fighting for months to try and get their hands on the iphone4.
and compared to my captivate, i'd rather have the captivate.

also.

widgets + swype + true multi-tasking
those alone would keep my with android for a long time to come.

You were so deadset on getting rid of your iPhone. Could you elaborate on what "doesn't feel right?". Is it that you just arent used to the OS yet?

to me its still very foreign. kind of like windows phones. takes a while to get used to.

visually, the icons are all different shapes, unlike Apple which are all squares, and looks very uniform. i like order.

the Android Marketrplace is very lacking VS App Store. in both selection and appearance.

the phone itself is outstanding tho. fast and stable. good call quality. Camera is :fullofwin: tons of settings, anti-shake, macro night shots etc..

Im just very used to modding through Cydia, not to mention bricking the GS2 is a very real possibility. on IP, its pretty hard to do.

the SG2 battery doesn't last nearly long enough for me.

:fulloffuck:

gahhhh!

Or iPhone 6 or iPhone 7 or Samsung Galaxy S3. Unfortunately there's always gonna be something new coming out. I for one will never switch back due to all the customizing/openess in android.

True. Totally subjective to the user.

Icons are the same shape. It's the widgets you're probably not accustomed to. Those can be all different sizes. I wouldn't say Android Marketplace is very lacking. It doesn't compare to the number of apps that's for sure but it'll eventually catch up.

I've been flashing android phones for years now since I ditched my iPhone 3G. I have yet to brick a phone :) I'm on my 4th Android phone.

Battery life is too early to tell. The charge should build up after a few charges. On my first charge I was able to hit 17hours uptime with 30% left.
