take advice from someone your size or that started your size.

you a skinny 135lb kid? talk to someone whos 180lbs who started as a skinny 135lb kid. following a guy whos a 240lb monster who started off as a 280lb monster wont give you the same results you're looking for.

Not hating just saying his claims of strength could very well be true. He's still a piece of shit though.

Berz out.

@strkyn, when you slipped a disc how long did it take you to get back to deadlifting, & to get back to your old lifts?

Hell, no, bro. I weight 170 lbs and can bench 135 pounds. I am no heavyweight, but definitely not a skinny kid that is lifting weights at the gym for the first time.

Yeah, you may get the occasional useful piece of advice on these threads. I'm just saying that I value the advice of a personal trainer when it comes to weight training because of their training certification, and years of experience doing this work for a living.

most trainers say the same shit most of the time, they are not going to get you doing dead lifts and stuff that can cause you to hurt your self and sue them. there going to give you a mediocre training style.

there is more then a couple pieces of useful stuff in this thread

i tried the oatmeal thing, works well, I'll probably start with 1
as for the milk and steak, i'm 99% sure my parents won't allow that. :okay:

xilley you're trying to speed up your metabolism? Yes lots of small meals, basically snack throughout the day. You also need to work hard and SWEAT. If you're not sweating you're not working hard enough. Some people do that through cardio, some lift hard and heavy. Depends what your goals are.

i only do cardio atm, my heart rate is always at 170-179
for 30-45 mins depending how my legs are..
and sweating is a def, whole Tee gets drenched :heckno:

i get really bad shin pain
does anyone else happen to get this after some cardio?

You have a set amount of food you're allowed to eat?

RRxtar 11-25-2011 11:41 PM

15 is a whole different thing. your body may not be ready to be huge or really grow. hormones are all outa wack. give it a couple years. you can certainly hit the gym tho!

and getting his parents to buy $100 worth of steak for him a week might be tough haha

Six Pack Shortcuts -- Exercise And Nutrition Tips To Get In Killer Shape

is the shit that Mike say true?
i ve been skeptical as there are just so many different opinions and different sources, so i right now i m just hoping to stick to one and work on with it

suggestions please

update: so i kinda got my answer from bodybuilding.com
but is it true you dont need to do cardio at all, but only do intense workout with little rest to get the afterburn?

chin3se604 11-26-2011 01:01 AM

The Afterburn effect is just a marketing term for Excess post-exercise oxygen consumption which is basically calories that is expended after a workout

by doing compound exercises which works several muscle groups at a time.. deadlifts/squats/bench etc it'll require a higher metabolic demand causing an increase in the EPOC effect

lift heavy and eat at a deficit if you want to lose fat, and if you want to increase the deficit, then add cardio, but it's not needed if your diet is already clean

if I'm wrong guys... please correct me .. thanks

Damn 30-45min is quite a long time on a treadmill or bike. Have you tried doing HIIT's? I find those way more effective. After 15-20mins of HIIT i'm already dying. :alonehappy:

i cant really handle HITT yet
i do 10-15 min jogging which puts my heart rate at 172
and then i rest 1 min - 2min and jog again for another 2-3 min and do it over and over again and in between the 45 mins i ll do once or twice 8.8 speed for 1 minute and that about it..
i know its a long period of rest
but my shins cant handle it, it hurts to the point where i would have to stop the treadmill entirely and stretch, and when i get home i would ice it for 10 mins each leg.

anyone solve the shin splint problem?

SkinnyPupp 11-26-2011 03:42 AM

For HIIT the best intervals to use IMO are 15 second sprint. That way your HR hits its peak just at the end, so you will ALWAYS be able to hit your 100% max. And 45 seconds is enough to be recovered for the next one.

If I push, I can get my HR up to about 175 at the end of a sprint, then be back down to 160-163 for the next one. It was NOT like that when I started. It is really good for your V02 max as well.

xilley 11-26-2011 03:47 AM

whats HR? and v02?

Oh hmm.. good to know. I used to do 10-15min HIIT's and sometimes 20mins. I would sprint for 45seconds and than slow jog for a minute or two to catch my breath and then sprint again.
