Hey guys, I've been using rippetoe's workout for few weeks already... however I feel that my core muscle is weak...
Is it okay to work out with muscle core exercises after doing rippetoe?

hal0g0dv2 05-10-2012 01:50 PM

Yep that is totally fine ^^

Santofu 05-10-2012 01:58 PM

Sweet, can you recommend me some of the core training exercises?

JSilver 05-10-2012 02:31 PM

Yeah, do these hanging from a pullup bar though, not resting your arms like a pussy at the Dips station

hahhahahahhaha, how does neurocore compare to craze?

Personally I would say Craze is similar to MP Assault.

Craze (Tried with 2 scoops) gives you a good pump/strength, pretty decent focus but feels mellow like Assault (Not that its a bad thing).

Whereas Neurocore I found, is more aggressive which I love. Massive pump and focus. And this is on 3 scoops.

I've used MP Assault for well over a year. Started using Neurocore just within the past 3-4 months. Tried a dose of Craze a few days ago.

As to which one I personally like better? As of now, Neurocore.

To each their own.

One thing I've noticed among my friends who claim that they squat is that when I do actually arrange a meeting with them I discover that their depth is absolutely horrible above parallel. I've also see a lot of other people in the gym doing squats with no depth.

For me, I feel that it has to be at least parallel to count for anything. When I squat I'll go rock bottom ATG. Now, you don't have to go that deep - that's just what I like to do.

But, shit. I get so frustrated looking at people do 1/10th depth squats on the smith machine in groups pretending to show off. Really, if the bar is loaded with 315lbs and you only move it down 1 inch it really doesn't count for anything. Why are you patting yourself on the back? -and while the smith machine does have its uses, squats is definitely not one of them. I only use the smith machine for keeping morons out of my squat rack.

This is why I go to the gym when it's mostly empty.

JDął 05-10-2012 04:21 PM

I simply cannot do heavy squats going to parallel. My hip to knee length is almost 2.5ft, anything over 2 plates puts massive pressure on my knees and I can't risk it. Probably why I've capped out doing squats at only 240-250. Any more is genuinely uncomfortable, but I can leg press 8 plates without too much issue :yuno:

but the girls never really venture over to the barbells and dumbell area... they just stay over at the cardio/treadmill area where they get a clear view so they can be mirin'...

Birdcoop was always packed when I worked out there during the term, but hey at least it was convenient..

It was an absolute killer, I've never experienced something this intense. I was ready to throw in the towel after 4 sets, I just kept telling myself "at least get halfway". Once I hit the halfway mark I ignored what my body was telling me and just kept going. I don't know how I pulled it off but I did; sucks that I wont be able to walk for the next few days. (empty stomach too)

I know it sounds kinda tacky but this was a huge reminder to me that the mind is the strongest muscle of all. (yah, yah, I know ... the brain isn't a muscle)

I did that a month ago, was able to pull a 8x8 at 185 (was 130lbs bodyweight), but 9x9 was too much.

I will try again after 5x5, ill be able to do it, i know it :D

instantneedles 05-10-2012 05:05 PM

double post.. sorry.

Hey guys, who here can do muscle ups? I don't get how some guys can do them with such ease, I can do chin ups no problem, but i can't seem to transfer my weight over ontop of the bar so I can push up... any tips guys?

instantneedles 05-10-2012 05:21 PM

Anyone know where I can get some cheap gloves for $15 or under? This is primarily for deadlifts... Chalk doesn't seem to work for me anymore and I really want to put a stop to those calluses..
