No jokes. I took half a package for the first time around 9am yesterday. I was wired until 4am when I had to force myself to sleep, otherwise I think I would have kept on trucking.

I cannot imagine what would happen if I had consumed the entire package.

Lolkai 08-15-2010 01:46 AM

fuck now all this 1mr talk is making me regret buying super pump cuz I really wanna try it out...

SkinnyPupp 08-15-2010 08:15 AM

Going to check out another gym tomorrow. It's cheaper than the $50 one, and is literally brand new (opened this month). But it's a 30 minute commute each way still...

FUUUUUUUUUU

Screw pre workout drinks. I don't take any or ever plan to. Is anyone with me lol

you are doing yourself a disservice by not

hud 91gt 08-15-2010 01:18 PM

I'm on the wall with that one. I generally drink a cup or 2 of coffee just prior to my workout. I'm afraid if I start using the pre workout drinks, those days I don't get one are going to be baaad.

Really? I prefer not using pre-workout supplements, but if you do then go do so.

It's just an MTR ride and a short walk. This is the route I'll probably take, I am always looking for more excuses to go to Mong Kok anyway :). Going to check out the gym today

I have never taken a pre-workout before, and was pretty happy with it. Although I usually just take a scoop of BCAA with some crystal light, I guess that counts doesn't it? :lol

It's totally not necessary, IMO, especially the 'pump' ones

MarkyMark 08-15-2010 07:13 PM

Do pre workout drinks actually make you lift more, or does it just make you less lazy and try harder

DC5-S 08-15-2010 07:23 PM

gives you more focus, energy blah blah blah..

JACKED 08-15-2010 07:36 PM

Anybody do/try/know anyone whos done the Layne Norton Power & Hypertrophy routine or something similar? Gonna start tomorrow after doing some research into it.

Basically you would workout each bodypart twice a week (with the exception of bi's and tri's) but with less volume than the typical split where you would train each bp once. On one day it would be for power (higher weight lower reps) and the other would be for hypertrophy or muscle growth (higher reps lower weight). It does seem to make a lot of sense to me and since I honestly can barely stand waiting an entire week to workout a bp again its perfect for me.

i agree with you. for the most part, all i need is my playlist.

i'm not a regular caffeine user. sometimes i take a caffeine tablet and it helps me get a new PR.

Yes they do work. You become focused, you feel increase in strength, you feel more blood being pumped into your veins after every rep thus giving you that extra couple of reps.

But to me, it doesn't feel natural and its all too much. I used SuperPump, and it gave me break-outs on my back. I also felt like taking a fat shit every time I was at the gym. Than again, that's just me.

RRxtar 08-16-2010 03:20 PM

I take a pre drink because when I work an 8-10 hour day in the 35* summer, I can barely stay awake to cook dinner, let alone goto the gym after work. The only thing that gets me off the couch to goto the gym, is my pre gym drink.

sonick 08-16-2010 03:23 PM

You know how normally when you work out, sometimes you get those super awesome workouts where you just feel fucking amazing and pumped during and afterwards? happens like maybe 1 in 8 or gym outings or so?

On a pre-workout supp its more like 9/10 times you go to the gym you feel that way... You may have a slow day sometimes but for the most part, every workout is just awesome.

RRxtar 08-16-2010 03:30 PM

thats also true. i tear shit up when i pre-workout drink.

there is absolutely no way i could work out at the same intensity i usually do without a pre drink. it really brings things to the next level

i must have become desensitized to them but i was on MR1 and Xpand

they don't do squat for me anymore

ive taken a month off pre-workout drinks and now am back on xpand and can't feel any difference

im better off pounding a red bull and getting the same effect...or maybe its all mental?

maybe its just me ?

hal0g0dv2 08-16-2010 08:01 PM

fuck starting to get back to my normal lifting weight in the gym again, and sitting 40 pounds less

!Yaminashi 08-16-2010 08:05 PM

^Thats cause you're not human.

I've been on 1MR for a week or so now, all of my workouts have been pretty damn good.
I find myself trying to find MORE to do and my focus is OSSUM.

Do you guys ever have crazy good workouts then you're not sore the next day?
I've had that happen to me a few times in the last month and it drives me INSANE!
