Anybody else having problems ordering Opti-Men from BBing.com? Or is it just a common thing that they don't allow it to be shipped to Canada.

Went to the gym this morning on an empty stomach..was kind've in a rush. Worst decision ever. Could barely lift a thing this morning. Ah well...a lesson learned.

I need help/advice. I've been lifting for a long time now and I'm a pretty good size and have pretty good strength. I used to be 175-180lbs until I cut down alot and now at 160-163. I'm trying so hard to put on some weight but can't! I know I need more calories in my diet but it's very tough. My diet is good, I eat clean. Any suggestions?

Refer to the "how do I eat" thread

Its never good to go to the gym on an empty stomach. But honestly I sometimes finding myself in that position. When I get to the gym I can still manage to lift hard as I do even if I did have something to eat in the morning. Weird?

I can definitely feel a difference between when I've only had a couple small meals, or if I've already had 3 meals before the gym (weekdays)

Weekends for some reason I tend to eat less :(

hotong 08-23-2010 03:15 PM

woke up this morning took 1MR on a empty stomach fucking felt like a changed man... could lift way more than usual.

Increased my shoulder DB press to 90lbs DB today. Cranked out 4 sets, 5 reps each, no spot.

I've been messing around with Intermittent Fasting lately.. The whole idea behind it is that you eat for 8 hours of the day and fast for 16.
Part of the "problem" is that I'm typically going to the gym 13-15 hours into my fast. Funny thing I noticed is that it didnt effect my training at all. On weight days I'll usually have half a scoop of protein before I go and if I'm feeling sluggish I throw some coffee in with it. My strength actually went up while doing this.
Not something I would suggest for everyone and I'll admit I'll have days where I just dont have much energy (but then again I'd have that happen when I'm eating every 2 hours too)..
I've lost a ton of fat in the process and maybe a tiny bit of muscle (then again I'm the leanest I've ever been so its to be expected)..

Cardio days I usually try to get to my cardio within an hour of waking up so I'll have 3-4 hours where my body is burning fat for energy.
I'm also mixing this with a keto diet.

interesting... I've been reading up on it as well. Going to mix it into my schedule and see how it works. I'll see what kind of results I get by christmas.

FINALLY found a decent gym in Hong Kong, after over 4 years. I will finally have access to proper equipment (the ONLY free weight I have used since moving here have been dumbbells)

Took over an hour to negotiate the price. My goal was to get a good price but with a SHORT TERM. In the end I got what I think is a good deal.

Will start tomorrow, then a few months I can better join the discussion again and start posting progress pics. I haven't worked out for pretty much all year.

No power rack though, just a bunch of smiths. Luckily I have no progress at all in squats, but once I do I may have to look for another gym before I can safely to heavy lifts. For now, just the rack will be fine with a spotter.

im terrified of cardio in the morning, i mean ur running on an empty stomach aren't u more vulnerable to losing muscle mass?

SkinnyPupp 08-26-2010 03:28 AM

Did my first "real gym" workout since 2008! First serious workout since before last xmas. God I'm fat and weak :(

I'm doing Chad Waterbury's "Huge in a Hurry" program (it's a stupid name of course, but a solid program I think. I used to workout based on his T-Nation articles so this is much of the same, and I like it) I am a huge fan of total body training over splits, as it's one of the few ways I think, that allow you to gain muscle while losing fat significantly.

Just starting out, so did 25 of each. The program will then go to 4 exercises per day, then an AM/PM split when it really starts getting serious ;)

-Dips (bodyweight, which is 195 lbs)
-Sitting cable row (120 lbs)
-Split DB squats (40 lbs)

With some mobility before, and stretching after.

According to CW, amount per set doesn't matter, just overall workload, and TBT. The first week is quite light, just to get you used to his method (which also emphasizes on lifting speed and recovery time)

If you guys want to know more about this book, I can look it up. I'll start posting progress pics when... when I start seeing progress ;)

I know this has been covered before but I dont wanna dig through every page..

When you guys cut, do you eliminate carbs completely? If so how do you go about your meals without carbs since they count for a fair amount of your daily calories?
If not, when is it safe to have carbs?

I was thinking of going a bit with as little carbs as possible + more cardio just to get rid of a little body fat
But I dunno how I'll get out of bed in the morning with no carbs

yeah i more or less stayed at 50g-100g of carbs a day when i cut, its a bitch.i did all my cardio in the morning, i would basically have small meals with more meat and less carbs, lots of sweet potatoes, i stayed away from any type of bread, if u r wanting to go to the extreme, ECA stack helps
First week is always the hardest, especially when your friends bring pizza over or any kinda of amazing food. but keep with it, i look totality different now then i did 2 months ago kinda crazy how your body does that
