All time favorite bicep curl machine. Anyone use this before? Hits the spot pretty good IMO.

never seen one of them before. but i like Hammer Strength's Iso Lateral stuff

My gym has their Leg Press machine. it separates each leg and instead of a sled, its 2 swings. keeps your ankles at 90* the whole time so you can go real deep. still prefer squats tho.

JSilver 09-16-2010 06:51 PM

Oooh yeah I've seen that one before; the back rest is really thick and sits low? Unfortunately I don't have it at my gym lol. Your gym carry a lot of Hammer Strength?

ws6ta 09-16-2010 07:05 PM

they have that machine at fitness world

RRxtar 09-16-2010 08:49 PM

this bad mama jamma

the gym has abit of hammer strength. alot of paramount stuff too. in all honesty i dont really care about much of it tho. a cable and a pully or 2 and a stack of weights is all i really need for anything i really need a 'machine' for

RRxtar 09-16-2010 09:04 PM

you know your a gym nerd when:

... you crack open a hard boiled egg and can keep the shell in one piece and get a smile from it. like a mandarin orange.

The only machine I use right now is for seated calf raises. Apparently you should do both seated and standing calf raises for proper development...

But it's pretty much just a lever and a seat, so not sure if it counts :lol

RRxtar 09-16-2010 09:33 PM

i like to do standing calf raises toes on a platform, in the smith machine holding the bar like at the top of a deadlift.

i was just about to list the few machines i use, and it turns out i use more than i thought. haha.

SkinnyPupp 09-16-2010 09:51 PM

Right now I am doing one-legged standing calf raises, holding a DB in the other hand. I just go up to the incline bench and toe up on one of the stands, and hold onto the back of the bench for balance.

I don't think I've seen a platform at my gym I can use a barbell with unfortunately. There's the usual 2x4 to elevate your heels during squats, but that's not high enough for calf raises I think

RRxtar 09-16-2010 10:19 PM

i just use the top piece of one of these bad boys. haha

its good to incorporate barbell cheat curls in your bicep routine.. Arnold recommends it himself. I do it in most workouts but sometimes switch it up. cheating helps fatigue your biceps more than if you weren't to cheat. but of course its dangerous if your new to it

flys -> cable/machine/flatbench 2x12 each

take out the push ups and do bench/incline/flys and do weighted dips to hit tri's and pecs.. thats what I do and my pecs are sore for 4+ days

ya squatting does make you feel beast. especially when you aren't squatting bitch weight.

ps. im sorry but i will never use a curl machine. ppl who incorporate a curl machine into their routine don't know how to workout their biceps properly

Mmm really eh? I find machines are great for Isolating the direct muscle group intended. You realize that even with bicep curl machines there is an actual form you still have to use. I still see idiots on bicep curl machines using slight leverage with their shoulder busting out more weight than they can actually lift.

IMO I think some machines are great to be incorporated into your work outs.

Best alternate squat invented. Bulgarian split squats kill more than regular squats for me.

Speaking of this, saw 3 dudes that obviously didnt know what they were doing yesterday using the bicep machine. The guy loads up like 3 or 4 plates and he's basically using his entire body to curl...

I couldnt even....shake my head it was just so....wrong

hal0g0dv2 09-17-2010 09:50 AM

Woke up this morning, had my scoop of 1MR (empty stomach) ready to tear the shit out of the gym....Didn't go so well, after 4 sets of deadlifts, and some cable rows i was feeling so done. Did like 3 sets of lat pulldowns then just gave up. I'm contemplating going back in a few hours and finishing off the rest of my workout, or should i just forget about it and move on with my day?
