TSN.ca breaking news sent to my iPhone

^^
St.Louis right winger. Scored 32 points in 72 games last year. I have nothing against him really but what a fucking waste of 2.5 mill. For god sakes Cory Stillman was only 3.33 per year

invader 07-01-2008 12:01 PM

hes only 24 years old, he can get better

Ronin 07-01-2008 12:01 PM

When I first saw that, I was like "Hells yeah..." and then I remember it was Brad Boyes, not David Backes, that was pretty awesome in St. Louis...

BREAKING NEWS:

Darcy Tucker has agreed to a two year deal with the Colorado Avalanche worth $4.5 million.

We missed the boat again. Tucket at 2.25 is good. Cory Stillman at 3.33 was dope too. WDF are we doing!

AX.Deadpool 07-01-2008 12:08 PM

There we have it. Gillis is either desperate or manning the fk up and doing w.e he possibly can to build a contender for next 2 seasons.

BAckes is young, and in 2 seasons, that 2.5 will be a steal.
Lots of potential..

Ronin 07-01-2008 12:10 PM

Tucker for $2.25 is a decent deal but remember, it's not always just about money. Maybe they don't want to play here. So while we could easily pay the money, maybe they don't want to come to Vancouver.

Of course alot of factors goes into the players decision. My anger is purely out of frustration that every team in our division )except Calgary) is getting better yet we remain the same. Last year was like this too.

Seamo 07-01-2008 12:15 PM

edmonton is going to be a monster next season unless they majorly fucked up!

AX.Deadpool 07-01-2008 12:17 PM

if we do get backes. gunna cost us a 2nd round draft pick for compensation.

OFFER SHEET COMPENSATION:
$863,156 or less - None
$863,156 - $1,307,811 - 3rd round pick
$1,307,811 - $2,615,623 - 2nd round pick
$2,615,623 - $3,923,434 - 1st and 3rd round pick
$3,923,434 - $5,231,246 - 1st, 2nd, and 3rd round pick
$5,231,246 - $6,539,061 - Two 1st's, one 2nd, one 3rd round pick
$6,539,061 or more - Four 1st round picks

goo3 07-01-2008 12:23 PM

If I remember right, Wellwood + Sundin was a pretty good line combo for awhile.

Young player for money and a second rounder...not a terrible deal. He's probably not worth $2.5 but with offer sheets, you want to overpay just enough so the team won't match. Good thing he only spent $2.5 though...I definitely would not trade a 1st and 3rd.

Ronin 07-01-2008 12:30 PM

Auldy to Ottawa for $1m for 2 years. Good for him. Hope he gets his career back on track. You know Gerber isn't reliable enough to get all the starts.

hypediss 07-01-2008 12:42 PM

if they do sign sundin for 10mil per year i will give up on this team

AX.Deadpool 07-01-2008 12:44 PM

they cleared cap. and alot of their line up is youngsters... they can offer him a crazy deal long term..

I dont think Gillis wants to lock up 10 mil in salary for 6+ seasons.

winson604 07-01-2008 12:52 PM

Mang wdf are we going to do with our Centres. We got Kesler, Welwood, Sedin, and possible Sundin. I can't even imagine what our lines would look like rite now

quasi 07-01-2008 12:54 PM

Welwood can play the wing.

Gh0stRider 07-01-2008 12:56 PM

Tampa Bay signs UFA goaltender Olaf Kolzig to a 1 year deal worth $1.5-million (plus bonuses).

stuff99 07-01-2008 01:10 PM

I'd rather have a 29 year old Hossa for 6-7 years than a 37 year old Sundin for 2 years :)
