^ scared me for a second. I read "Sundin squashes rumour. He's made decision:"
I held my breath thinking the article was gonna tell us what his decision was.

Yeah he may be the best player on the leafs, but He never really carried them anywhere. They haven't made the playoffs since I think 2003?

Jerome Iginla was on the Flames everyone one of those 7 straight years they missed the playoffs it doesn't mean he's not an elite player.

iwantaskyline 07-22-2008 02:09 PM

One player cannot carry a team, besides maybe a goaltender like Luongo when hes on top of his game. Even Lidstrom or Gretzky can't do it by themselves.

SR604 07-22-2008 02:09 PM

I never said sundin wasn't elite, but it is a fact that he never really carried them anywhere.

He may not have carried them to the stanley cup but he sure as hell carried them through the bad and put up a lot of points while playing with no other good player.

the_rickster 07-22-2008 04:07 PM

there's no doubt that he's a good player and you don't need rings to prove it.

he's going to make an impact on the scoresheet, hopefully in the room and definitely on the win/loss column if he signs here, and if that's worth 10M to the organization, what the fucker ever... at first i couldn't believe that gillis had offered him that much cake, but now i'm just waiting for the bullshit to be over and for him to sign. at this point, i'd be more suprised if he signed in toronto, but only because i've already accepted the fact that could be/probably will be/is a canuck

Current rumor out of Ottawa (in the Ottawa Sun) is Vermette for either Bieska or Sami Salo. I really, really hope it's Salo if that's the case.

the_rickster 07-23-2008 12:03 PM

salo has a no trade clause, so it's really up to him.

and the vermette thing is supposedly riding on sundin's decision.

werd I hope it's Salo as well.

Ronin 07-23-2008 12:30 PM

Honestly, I doubt it...since Salo came here...from Ottawa.

pretty much gauranteed that we're going to be ditching a big salary on the d line now (for little to nothing in return)... if we're still gunning for sundin, that is.
