"Word is that the Bruins may be preparing to offer Hossa a seven year MAX contract of 11.3 per for 7.."

WOW.... And they also say that demitra wont make a move yet, until hossa and campbell are off the market. I guess if they are off the market, his Stock goes up, cash in more $$$

Luongo, kessler, sedins, edler, (other young draft picks)

We gotta sign them all soon enough. and HOSSA for 6+ years at a crazy salary would make us lose some of our talent pool...

Sundin is a pretty logical move. but the $ is a bit ridiculous, however the 2 year term, is good.

winson604 07-01-2008 01:16 PM

So the Sundin deal is actually $5 million per year with a $5 million signing bonus for each year. Regardless it's still $10 mill per year we're paying him. Sigh

Harvey Specter 07-01-2008 01:21 PM

God, why the hell do we need Sundin for? Sure he scored a few goals last season but the man is past his prime and not worth taking a risk for the money he's asking for.

it's saying Detroit is making a huge push for hossa

Seamo 07-01-2008 01:26 PM

uhh no, he was still pretty awesome last season. Sundin's always on his prime. The only question is his heart right now

pretty sure its 10... you cant have just 5 on cap and 5 under the table.

Hondaracer 07-01-2008 01:31 PM

^ im not sure, they just explained it on TSN and it sounds like there is a 5 Million incentive for each year of the contract + a 5 mill a year contract?

fuck this is just fucked.....

I do like the Backes signing though, good shit

murd0c 07-01-2008 01:31 PM

they also said if he walks out on his last yr it goes towards the cap

they already looked pretty scary before, now with cole and possibly hossa, wtf! if hossa signs with edmonton, i say rebuild for the canucks cause there is no way we will win the cup in the next 2 yrs

Edm, Tampa, Philly, Pits, and Chicago looks so stacked!! and not to forgot Detroit too

things don't look good for canucks land

I believe it is $5million towards the cap. I could be wrong though I'm not the most knowledgeable when it comes to Cap rules

murd0c 07-01-2008 01:41 PM

Blah_Teggie 07-01-2008 01:45 PM

WOW....Brian Campbell to Blackhawks for 8 years at 7.1 mil per

ynot-llat 07-01-2008 01:46 PM

first off HOSSA being the go to guy is gonna shit bricks like he did in atlanta

I REPEAT SUNDIN HAS BEEN THE GO TO GUY FOR THE LAST 10 YEARS WITH NO HELP AND HE STILL GETS IT DONE

THIS DOESNT HAMPER US LONG TERM AS BETTER FREE AGENTS WILL BECOME AVAILABLE IN THE NEXT FEW YEARS.

It still goes towards the cap, but if u have player bonuses, you can overspend
a certain percent over the cap. or somethign liek that.

heres the link

stuff99 07-01-2008 01:50 PM

i rather have sundin over 2 years than hossa for more than 8+ years

cspec 07-01-2008 01:50 PM

^ agreed. sundin is definitely one of the most reliable players in the league.

ChaKo 07-01-2008 01:55 PM

definitely. i don't think sundin is anywhere near washed up. he's been carrying the leafs on his back for his entire career and hasn't really shown any wear yet.
