so looks like Cowen is done, and if we sign Mats theres a good chance on getting naslund back. Sign bert and have those 3 as a first line lol

hi5-ive 07-01-2008 05:15 PM

Hey if bertuzzi comes CHEAP id take him on the team.
He has somethign left in the tank.
Gives us more depth.

Gillis can still turn the team around with the limited
ammount of free agents left
That is, UFA's, that we have a decent shot at landing.

To list a few:
Ryder, Avery, Huselius, - highly possible
Demitra, Jagr, Federov - Long shots
Naslund, Bert, Bmo <---- if all else fails.. UNITE

cowen is signed for the next season at 725k

Harvey Specter 07-01-2008 05:31 PM

Like I said before I would love to see Bert back in a Canucks jersey but I doubt he'll want to return back to Vancouver.

d1 07-01-2008 05:39 PM

We don't have much of an option now unless we get some trades going

Gumby 07-01-2008 05:57 PM

Hordichuk wears #16! :D

Tim Budong 07-01-2008 06:01 PM

no fedorov..
jagr will command AT LEAST half of what Sundin is getting
and then theres 5mil to play with in this inflated salarycap day

Not on Vancouver

Ryder is off the market

The Boston Bruins have agreed to terms with winger Michael Ryder on a three-year deal at $4 million per season.

The contract is still being finalized but the two parties have agreed to terms pending the final paperwork being in order.

More to follow.

4million a season.. alittle too much? but HE needs to prove that hes worth 4m/a season.
I mean, this guy can score, just had bad season last year.

goo3 07-01-2008 06:14 PM

too much? of course, it's FA lunacy. What else are GMs gonna do with their cap room? Sit on it?

Derek_N84 07-01-2008 06:17 PM

Come on Huselius ! I still have my fingers crossed haha ...

On another note ...I rather have Mo instead of Bert

I have a questiona bout the Sundin deal. I was talking about a friend and debating whether or not the signing bonus of 5 mill he gets this year and July 1 2009 next year effects the cap at all. If it doesn't effect the cap then technically wouldn't we only be paying 5 mill for him per year which would be a steal?

it goes against the cap. but a team is allowed to go up 10% of the cap, and pay of that sum in the following year.

If they do not go over the cap, they pay the whole 10 mil in that season.

Im not 100% though. i read about this recently... and heard something vividly on sportsnet.

raygunpk 07-01-2008 07:12 PM

It does affect the cap. But we won't be worrying about the cap until we gotta re-sign Luongo, and by then Sundin's contract would be up.

Sw0op 07-01-2008 07:13 PM

his signing bonus goes towards the cap...so in theory he would be a $10mil/year cap hit

Shorty20 07-01-2008 07:13 PM

Gillis signed Ryan Johnson

raygunpk 07-01-2008 07:27 PM

Johnson > Ritchie

Good faceoff guy, lead league in block shots amongst forwards and apparently very fast.

jigga250 07-01-2008 07:30 PM

sounds like a good 4th liner to me
