"if you offer 10 mil on sundin... why not offer 10 mil on sakic?"

EDIT: New York Rangers sign UFA defenceman Wade Redden to a six-year contract worth $6.5 million

hi5-ive 07-01-2008 03:40 PM

Rangers signed Wade Redden 6yrs/ 6.5 M a season.

Tim Budong 07-01-2008 03:45 PM

Ya think? lol he's hella overpaid. Last season was his first season in the NHL at the age of 28 and he got paid 475k I think it was. Now he's getting 3.5mill a year for 4 years? That's just retarded. I don't understand how a lot of these GM's plan on freeing up cap space, but still have players that will help contribute.

I know who they got but I was referring to replacing Hossa. They gave a whole lot for him too lol..

Edit: I'm sure these bandwagoners will be cheering for Darcy once he starts playing and actually fight unlike Ritchie, Izzy and Cowan (injures himself or get his ass kicked everytime). And if Sundin still play the same level as last yr but this time with someone to play with that can score, that will be great

hi5-ive 07-01-2008 03:48 PM

But he made them to go all the way to Stanley cup finals. Failed short.

I hope Gillis didn't spend all his time on the phone bartering with HOSSA and in doing so let all these other role player type guys slip through his fingers... that would suck even more than signing Hossa for huge money long-term (he's not worth it, he's not a winner no matter how skilled he is).

I'd say Hossa is about a 6.75 mill a year player. He's a good player and he's talented and I think he'd do well with the Sedins. As for a team player, well that's a different story because all he wants is the money. I wonder if he even wants to win a cup lol.

stuff99 07-01-2008 04:03 PM

hossa is a mercenary. if he wanted to win he wouldve just resigned with the pens

winson604 07-01-2008 04:04 PM

I'm pretty happy about the Darcy Hordichuk deal. Just heard his interview on the radio and he is hyped to come here. He just came back from training with Chuck Lidell. Well he didn't actually spar Chuck personally but he helped Darcy out. Not blockbuster signing but we do need a tough guy, a real one not Cowen. No offence to Cowen cause he sure tried but he wasn't the answer. Fawk but we really need some forwards!

this is awesome :haha::haha::haha::haha::haha::haha::haha::haha:

Tough for the Canucks. They have nothing to offer anyone for trades except for Kesler and Edler, and if you trade one of those two you're making an even bigger hole than you had before. In terms of UFAs, face it, no one wants to come to Vancouver. Other teams around the league like Chicago are on the upswing which looks a lot better than Vancouver.

On another note, Mike Commodore, 5 years at 18.75 million? Geez I would love to see the cap go down and see all these managers screwed over.

Go Hordichuk!! ppl are finally seeing what he can bring to the table. Fighting and get the crowd going which of course helps the team! Good pickup!

murd0c 07-01-2008 04:22 PM

for the people flameing I tihnk it's a good call, hes a 4th line grinder fighter that we have been missing for yrs. it's a start to a hard nose team which we need in the NW

Harvey Specter 07-01-2008 04:22 PM

The FA market is pretty slim so the value of most of the players has shot up and GM's know that it'll take big bucks to sign these players even if that means paying ridiculous amounts of money for players who don't deserve the money.

hi5-ive 07-01-2008 04:27 PM

Mark Streit signed with Islanders 5 yrs / 20.5 M

shawn79 07-01-2008 04:27 PM

hossa sundin forsberg jagr fedorov naslund demitra avery is still out there

RRxtar 07-01-2008 04:31 PM

$10m a season for Sundin you've got to be fucking kidding me.

Amen to that. We should get Avery here too while we're at it!

I personally think we should go after Avery 5 - 5.5 a yr. Yes it's alot of money but the heart he gives and the way he gets the crowd going it worth it. We need to be built big strong and fast. HEART is what will get us somewhere not signing someone for 10million or what ever.

Harvey Specter 07-01-2008 04:46 PM

Lol, I highly doubt Avery will come to Vancouver.

I dont know if you are being serious or just sarcastic.

but Avery is not a 5-5.5 mil player.
he is realistically a, 2 - 3.25 mil player.
but with the ridiculous signings, i wouldnt
be suprised if he gets more.

I would take Avery for 2mil or less.
and i hope GILLIS! will finally learn how to use a fkn PHONE!

shawn79 07-01-2008 05:00 PM

Oilers at it again from tsn
while Marian Hossa is measuring up offers that include a big pitch from the Edmonton Oilers
