Pratt/Taylor made a great point today during their show. If the rink doesn't even have something as small as a defibrillator then how can you expect good playing conditions? They threw out an example of how Lecavlier played in an arena (during the lockout) that only had 1 washroom and he had to walk through the stands to get to it LOL

Worst case scenario, make a big push to get them to purchase one. I would be quite surprised if 8 rinks and Richmond Ice didn't have one.

iirc, 8 rinks has defibrillators. im not sure if every rink has them, but i'm pretty sure i heard they have at least 1. as for RIC, i hope to god they have 1, since i play hockey there.

That's wonderful, but how would this help people to learn the English language? Just wondering.

Oh............. I get it. If we wanted to learn Chinese or Punjabi, we could watch hockey in those languages. It's like kids learning Japanese watching streaming Japanese Anime. Cool. Very Cool.

That's how I learned French.... what little I know. CBC French Hockey.

Sort of agree. My dad watches tons of Hollywood movies and actually learned a lot of English that way. On the other hand, it does bring in a larger audience for the NHL.

Very true.

Hondaracer 10-14-2008 06:48 PM

you actually think that because it's offered in those languages, people who didnt watch before are going to watch now? :/

You can't see it? A bunch of old Indo Canadian men huddled around the TV watching HNIC in Punjabi. I can see it. And it would be wonderful....... CBC bridging the gap.

Not everybody will flock to watch it but I'm sure it'll help bring in a bunch of curious fans that never watched it because of the language barrier.

Harvey Specter 10-14-2008 07:11 PM

Bottom line is the NHL needs new fans. Tap into the newly immigrated communities and you have the potential to attract new fans. Also, I know of people who love hockey but don't understand what is going on because they have limited English. If you broadcast in their language, they'll understand the game better and keep watching.

Appearently Pylon Pyatt took a puck off the foot and will miss tomorrow's game. In his place, Wellwood will be on the "second" line with Raymond and Demitra.

Roach 10-14-2008 08:58 PM

This is Wellwood's shot to prove himself.

By the way, game is Thursday, not tomorrow :)

I'm looking to buy some tickets to the nucks game and was wondering how to verify the authenticity?

Is there anything I should look for or someway to prove it prior to actually getting scanned at GM place?

I think this is good. Give Wellwood some decent ice time and an opportunity to produce.

But even if Wellwood does do good, will Pylon get replaced? Most likely not.

For sure. 7-10 days is considered very good compared to last season.
With all these injuries, makes me worried already though.

I remember the first game, I thought Kesler was gonna get injured again. He took a few good beatings including a skate in the face. Wasn't it two seasons ago he missed a bunch of games and then came back for one or two playoff games just to get his finger hit by a puck and go out again?

Although I like the guy, it still raises a few concerns about his game. Bieksa can't play grit hockey if he has to play cautious due to injury concerns. The guy will lose his edge that earned him his roster spot to begin with. :(
