Google Engineer Confirms Fiddling With Battery Stats Doesn’t Improve Battery Life

So you know those old wives’ tales about tweaking your battery stats improving your battery life? Well apparently those old wives’ tales aren’t true. In fact— Google says you’re wasting your time by fiddling around with your battery stats or using battery tweaking apps

Need help, so I've had my galaxy s2 with Bell for a few months now, its rooted and unlocked and it was fine for maybe the first month. Lately, I have been getting no signal anywhere, and it goes to the "unregistered simcard" mode a lot. Its quite annoying because I don't get signal at home or work anymore.

Take your sim card out, make sure the metal on it is clean and free of debris and dust. Do the same for the actual slot. See if that helps the situation...

my bad lol i mean without turning display on and off.. some sort of light.

^^ I think Bigbaddie is talking about an app like noLED or something like that, where if you get a msg/call theres a light on the screen to notify the user.

!MiKrofT 01-18-2012 09:51 PM

BLN is the best but requires a kernel that supports it. It lights up the softkeys for notifications.

dyan 01-18-2012 09:52 PM

siyah supports it no?

shenmecar 01-18-2012 10:06 PM

I have bln. Its a good app. If ur kernal supports it then it should say on the site u downloaded it from

It does. You still need to install the bln amp though for it to work.

Armind 01-27-2012 03:27 PM

Selling mine if anyone's interested! PM

I have the free version of bln, but it only seems to work for gmail. Tried tinkering with the options but there are none.

Gh0stRider 01-27-2012 03:34 PM

I don't want the Nexus. Happy with the s2

Nah, still happy with my s2 plus I'd rather wait for the s3 since everyone grabbed a nexus

JayEch 01-27-2012 08:06 PM

Hmm, The original texting app doesnt work with bln apparently

That reasoning doesn't entirely make sense..."I'd rather wait for the S3 SINCE everyone grabbed a Nexus."

I'm sure those who grabbed the Nexus will end up picking up the S3 as well...I know I will be.

Also, not to say I told ya so, but no ICS on the SGS2 still?

Many people in this thread thought it would be ported over by December and officially released in January at the latest...Neither of those things have happened.

R5x 01-27-2012 10:21 PM

Well...I've been running cm9 for the past month. I know, not official release and not complete yet, but it's pretty much 95% of the 'aosp ics experience'. Only gripes are still no youtube/video playback and no camcorder mode still until kernel sources released.

I have played extensively with my gf's Galaxy Nexus, and I will say that it IS a better phone than the sgs2 when using both side-by-side. Overall, I think it's worth it to switch. Now, somebody buy my sgs2 :p
