^ Coming from 2.2/2.3 it's a big improvement overall, that is, coming from vanilla 2.2/2.3

They really took the best that the manufacturer skins have and implemented it into the core Android system

However I think they hype for ICS is overrated. With it slightly improving browsing and better multitasking being the core differences.

I somewhat agree, I'm not super psyched about it anymore but I want checkrom devs to release an ics rom

Thats for sure. Loving checkrom atm. Kitchen pro makes it so much easier to use :D

I decided to make the switch to the new official ics XEO LPQ rom last night. I was on check v6 but I wasn't as happy with it as I was v4 so I gave in. So far the official ICS, with CF-Root kernel and Nova launcher work great together. It's really snappy with better battery life and gps then when I was using check with speedmod.

The only complaint I have so far is Samsung has done something so you can't move apps to sd if you're using an official rom with a non stock kernel.
Also I can't figure out if you can make a text message vib and make a sound at the same time. The options are different then gingerbread that way.

I thought about switching over as well, but I really wanna hold out until Checkrom comes out with their ICS roms

Hi all! I just got the legit ICS onto my GS2; I haven't rooted it yet (I tried 2 rooters and both failed) but I've noticed my graphics got quite grainy (e.g. my flurry live wallpaper seems low res, and fonts seem edgier). Anyone else found any issues? Also what program can I find to root it?

Man Samsung really fucked up with the ICS update for the S2. Been watching youtube videos and TW with ICS just looks ugly as fuck.

Really hope samsung releases source codes soon

lol
Do yourself a favor and install cm9. The last I read, it looks like the cm9 team fixed the video codecs and pretty much everything works except for tv-out and fm radio.

Really? I'll have to confirm this later but as far as I know video recording still doesn't work
Either way I'm still pretty happy with checkrom v4

Edit: just checked xda, video recording still doesn't work on the latest cm9

Is Pure ICS a good choice for an optimized stock ROM? I'm new to Android.

New case arrived today: Knockoff of the Sweet Armor GSII.

http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/e...ame/sa-gs2.jpg

Highly recommend this case. It completely transformed my phone; now it feels very solid and refined. Really loving the new industrial look, and I'm glad I chose raw silver VS. black or gunmetal.

I would buy it again if I can get my hands on a simulated burnt titanium one for cheap. Gmarket would sell em for $60+...if they were even in stock. :okay:

Sweet case.. where did you pick it up? Im looking for new cases for my phone too.. currently using an otterbox cuz i tend to drop my phone lots :P

Datsun 03-23-2012 11:38 PM

I got it off eBay (use the search term "aluminum i9100 bumper"). Note that there are 2 other styles of these metal bumpers though. If you ask me the sweet armor type protects the phone best out of all of them.

Speaking of dropping my phone...a few weeks ago I dropped mine by having it slide out of my backpack, out the car door and onto concrete. The only spot it got chipped was on the bezel, which was where the case had a hole for models w/ TV antenna. :fuuuuu:

At least it wasnt the main body I guess...

Razor Ramon HG 03-24-2012 04:29 PM

What ROM are you guys using?

I set up Litening Rom 2.2 perfectly, then my phone started being unstable. I don't know if it's because I didn't wipe everything properly prior to flashing the ROM, or if it's because I uninstalled a bunch of random bloatware.

dyan 03-24-2012 05:04 PM

Using Checkrom V6 and Redpill kernel. Some reason, my phone doesnt like checkrom v6 and NEAK. Will just keep blackscreening once i see my dock.

This is the one I have

Premium Silver Aluminum Bumper Case Frame Fr Samsung Galaxy S2 II i9100+Tool Set | eBay

There's a cheaper one (@ $13, used to be $15 when I was looking at them) with more colors but they didnt have silver that I wanted, only gunmetal grey. When I rice, I rice hard so I ponied up a few more dollars for ~$20 total to get the color I like.

1PCS Metal Bumper Aluminum Case For Samsung Galaxy SII S2 i9100 | eBay

I dont regret it though, because looking at the pix of these cheaper ones, it looks like theyre either painted or CAST metal. Mine is without a doubt milled from billet aluminum.

And mine doesnt have the antenna opening I was bitching about earlier, lol

Gh0stRider 03-24-2012 09:19 PM

I'm on hyperdroid rom with red pill kernel.

Let me know if you need pics of the grey, silver or black bumpers installed on a black GSII.

I hoarded folders of pics to make a decision as to which one I would buy.
