Maybe you got a defective one? There definitely shouldn't be lines or static on the screen regardless of the brightness.

!Yaminashi 11-06-2011 01:11 PM

I know those lines you're talking about. I think it really depends on the image you're viewing

DC5-S, which location did you go to to get your SGS2?

Every Rogers provider I've called says they don't have it. I'm surprised you found one in Vancouver who had one.

DC5-S 11-06-2011 03:32 PM

You had to do a device reservation through Rogers.CA on your account. surprised you didn't hear about it.I had been in the device queue for two months and yesterday Rogers called me to tell me its available for pick up at the Rogers plus location I had selected.I don't notice much difference between 4g lte and 3g tho

Yeah it doesn't bother me that much. But revscene app not working does :(

I did reserve it, but the store I reserved it to (Oakridge) doesn't have it yet. I called around, and nobody seems to have it. Can you tell me where you picked it up?

DC5-S 11-06-2011 03:48 PM

You gotta wait bro till they call you. I guess for once in my life I got lucky haha.I got it at the poco store

My only advice would be to contact skinnypupp. Maybe he can troubleshoot it for you?

Galaxy S2 Root/Unlock How To:

Spoiler!

After rooting it with these steps, could I still load other firmwares onto it? Specifically, I'm looking to help someone add Chinese to their phone.

If I followed the steps from here: Samsung Galaxy II ( i9100 ) Install Chinese Language, would that work? Just want to make sure cause I don't want to brick their phone lol

!MiKrofT 11-06-2011 08:20 PM

Yup. That would still work.

Well.. Everything afterwards is pretty idiotproof :)

Do note that you will lose everything you have on the phone.

Simply download the ROM and put it on internal memory. Then boot into ClockworkModRecovery and roughly do this:

Wipe data/factory reset
Wipe cache
Under Advanced: Wipe Dalvik-cache
Select Flash Zip from SD Card
Select the villainrom zipfile
and confirm install.

Been testing out different Kernels and Radios lately. Found that KI1 and KG3 seem to perform the best for me on Rogers.

Kernels tried the Ninphetamine 2.0.5 but now moved onto SiyahKernel v2.1.1. It has more Governors and Schedulers to choose from which should net better battery life.

I'm currently undervolted 100ma across all freq's using SIO Scheduler and SmartassV2 Governor

Currently at 88% unplugged time of 3.5 hours. Will see how it goes over the next few days.

If anyone is interested in how CPU Governors and Schedulers work here's a good read: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1242323

Au contraire. My phone is checking 3 email accounts every 15min. as well has a 4th exchange mail account that is on push. :)

Tim Budong 11-07-2011 12:51 PM

constant whatsapp/line/twitter checking 2 emails every 30min
yea
similar i guess? my screen is on more tho who knows
these new kernels does wonders for battery with screen off even when theres data coming in and out. its fucking scary..

!Yaminashi 11-07-2011 12:53 PM

Yup. You might still be more since screen on time is the most power hungry. There are just way too many factors for battery life. I'm happy if the battery lasts from when I wake up to when I goto sleep.

i tried using titanium backup to backup my apps, but then when its done, i get unable to get root access.. I think it's because i don't have superuser or CWM. help?

Also can i delete the villanrom from internal memory?
