You definitely will

roastpuff 10-19-2011 03:41 PM

Yes. The screen is RGB stripe, not RGBG pentile which looks like crap.

Also, you will notice a HUGE speed difference.

!MiKrofT 10-19-2011 03:48 PM

The screen will be way sharper on the new screen.

unit 10-19-2011 03:53 PM

i think if they didnt increase the resolution and upgraded the screen by 0.65", then you'd be able to tell that the pixel density was reduced.

Resolution will play a big role. NS has this weird dot matrix pixel thing that shows up on every pixel. All the newer SAMOLED Plus screens get rid of this. It'll hopefully look as fluid as an iPhones pixel density (But with better colours :) )

how long did it take for the original galaxy S to get gingerbread?
I am toying with the idea to import the Galaxy S II HD
aside from time-based exlusive to ICS and minimal shutter lag/LED notification..that seems to be the superior phone

Korean lte band is the same as Rogers? Otherwise no point.

Despite the 5MP camera, I think the sensor might actually be bigger than the one on the 4S...
I think this shows in the low light picture and the picture of the watch.

Psykopathik 10-21-2011 07:23 AM

i dig the nexus camera more, however both seem to be shitty :p

SkinnyPupp 10-21-2011 07:25 AM

Yeah they both suck, as you'd expect. It is a phone after all. One sure is hyped up a lot though!

BTW it's not a SUPER AMOLED, so it still uses PenTile. But as such a high res I doubt you'd notice.

:Orly: GSMarena's spec say it is indeed SUPER AMOLED?

jeff19 10-21-2011 08:29 AM

Apparently it's not super amoled PLUS, just super amoled.

And if you calculate the real pixel density you will find that the Galaxy Nexus is actually closer to a "real" ppi value of 200, which is slightly lower than on the Galaxy S II (that uses a Super AMOLED Plus with RGB pixel structure). Some claim that a PenTile panel needs around 420 ppi to qualify as a Retina display and that is probably also the reason why Retina is nowhere to be found on the specs sheets of neither Galaxy Note nor Galaxy Nexus. If you are keen on a Samsung smartphone you might even find that the screen in the Galaxy S II is better.
Why The Galaxy Nexus' 720p Screen Might Not Be All It's Cracked Up to Be

dangonay 10-21-2011 09:18 AM

Is the Nexus really any better than the GS2?

Larger, higher res screen with technology that's inferior to the GS2 screen and more pixels to push using that older generation PowerVR SGX540 GPU.

I think GS2 owners will be laughing when they get ICS.

SkinnyPupp 10-21-2011 09:22 AM

Oops yeah, it's the "PLUS" that was omitted, not the "SUPER". I don't know how I got that mixed up :ahwow:

The Big Deal, and what most people were expecting Apple to do with the iphone 5, is moving up in resolution and a larger screen. 1280x720 man, that is the Real Deal. Larger than netbook resolutions, and just a few pixels short of the most popular laptop resolution of 1366x768

Psykopathik 10-21-2011 10:50 AM

So which would you all pick? Prime or Hercules?

note: I have a Nexus S with no microSD slot and that pisses me off tremendously.

so ppi is actually based on subpixels and not the pixels themselves? :fulloffuck::concentrate:

I need a side-by-side comparsion both with the same settings, hands on to judge
