Frequencies are HARDWARE DIFFERENCES

Sim/Carrier lock is SOFTWARE LOCK

don't mix em up.
If you buy a Rogers quad band phone, don't expect that "unlocking" will let you use it on wind/mobilicity/t-mobile

In other news:
I just pre-ordered a Galaxy Nexus from Virgin.
Didn't have to pay - just had to leave my name and number
14 Days return policy
have to be on a 30-day 20 dollar plan though (oh well, just got 40 dollars from office's computer parts rebate... which I got to keep for myself)

REP SAID IT's LOCKED TO BELL/VIRGIN? FOR REALS?
PLEASE NO

!MiKrofT 12-05-2011 10:21 AM

Google Nexus phones are not locked to any carrier.

CP.AR 12-05-2011 10:27 AM

^ XDA has reports of phones locked to O2 and 3 (in the UK) though...so I'm kind of scared that after the Nexus S google went the other way

Is the Canadian version pentaband? Read an article last week saying that the FCC approved a 850/1900 ONLY version for the states.

CP.AR 12-05-2011 12:00 PM

^ USA is getting the LTE version, so it's not the international version. could be a bit different.

hongy 12-05-2011 12:15 PM

Another Galaxy Nexus at the FCC points toward possible proper AT&T love | Android Central

Sorry I meant this version. One that seems to be a gsm 850/1900 only version.

CP.AR 12-05-2011 12:31 PM

From Bell's Specs page, seems like it will be pentaband UMTS, Quadband GSM

Specifications - Galaxy Nexus from Bell Mobility - Bell Canada

CP.AR 12-06-2011 07:47 PM

looks like virgin's is unlock - bell will probably be getting unlocked ones too

https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-p...206_233139.jpg

until official launch day it will really be a big mystery since the picture the guy showed on XDA stated "UNLK" specifically.

Bell pre-orders. Anyone have any information on when they ship? - xda-developers

ShadowBun 12-06-2011 08:10 PM

so with Virgin all we need is a $20 plan and we can cancel it?

CP.AR 12-06-2011 09:33 PM

^ yeah a 20/month month-to-month plan will be good enough according to Virgin at richmond centre

ShadowBun 12-06-2011 10:03 PM

how much is the phone with that plan then?

CP.AR 12-07-2011 08:31 AM

still full price, unfortunately. 649.99

parm104 12-07-2011 11:27 PM

Played with the phone all day yesterday and all I can say is that it is ABNORMALLY large! lol

DanHibiki 12-07-2011 11:32 PM

Okay which one of you hongers took a picture of yourself and used it as the background at the Costco demo phone?

It was awkward playing around with it with your face right there.

$599 unlocked @ Costco

!MiKrofT 12-08-2011 11:10 AM

I played with it at costco. It's only taller than the SGS2. The width is the same.

through which carrier? hard to believe when both virgin/bell are selling for $649...

JordanLee 12-08-2011 11:27 AM

^Its true. Reports that many have gotten the phone through the kiosk via pre paid. It's a known fact that people have been able to get phones off contract via Costco.

jeff19 12-08-2011 11:32 AM

:ahwow: goddamn wish i wasnt at work right now, or id go pick one up..

bakasam 12-08-2011 11:33 AM

Do you have to be a costco member to purchase from costco mobile? My dad has the membership and hes not home right now :(

Edit: Just called Wireless Etc (I think they are the dealer at costco) from the Richmond store and they said 649 + acti fees + month to month plan

essel 12-08-2011 11:33 AM

I'm gonna play with it at work.. waiting for rogers to release it sighhh

jeff19 12-08-2011 11:43 AM

just called Costco on production way, rep told me no one is allowed to sell the phone outright. :fuuuuu:

!Yaminashi 12-08-2011 11:49 AM

Maybe this is another one of those "errors" and whoever was able to get it off contract got lucky

Gh0stRider 12-08-2011 02:30 PM

ya, i wont be able to sell outright. not for a week or 2.

gotta check stock.
