^lol. Not much use on a phone though.

CP.AR 03-12-2012 11:51 AM

Pretty cool though, If I plug it into a TV say... that would be pretty useful!

Sense 4.0 being ported as we speak! Pretty excited. LOVE Sense widgets and TouchWiz widgets.

Simplex123 03-12-2012 09:54 PM

^NBD for me since I don't really use big widgets like the ones from sense. I prefer it to be simple and clean.

yuusha 03-13-2012 01:54 AM

I was never a big fan of TouchWiz, Sense was nice though. But really can't beat ICS stock themeing imo, I only use Wizz and Beautiful Widgets nowadays

strykn 03-19-2012 12:25 PM

Anyone have issue with the screen? When displaying a black screen or waiting for an app to load (2 sec delay) dark/dim lighting I see black spots/specs on the screen. Gonna send it back to samsung for service, or would it be better to go through my service provider fido?

xeryusx 03-19-2012 05:48 PM

I get through 2 days medium use on mine before needing to charge. Few text messages, lots of browsing, google reader, ebooks, few calls.

Running AOKP b28

I was on milestone 4 and one day it started lagging and my phone wouldn't wake when I press the power button so I flashed Slim ICS and it's been great. Feels faster and the size of the rom is only 69MB! When it installs it leaves out a lot of the bloatware as well:
Galaxy4
Launcher2
OpenWnn
PicoTTS
PinyinIME
VideoEditor
Videos

Like Kang's ROM Control, Slim ICS has ASS (Advanced Slim Settings) which is EXACTLY the same thing and has pretty much the same settings. When I backed up/restored my settings from Kang to Slim ICS, all my Rom Control settings appeared after a reboot. I definitely recommend it. You'll need to download both the base zip and the maguro (galaxy nexus) zip then flash base first before maguro.

I just gave it a read.. Now I remember why I stopped playing with computers :(

Is there something else I could do that doesn't make my brains short-circuit?

Hacking is not for the smrt.

Simplex123 03-20-2012 11:02 AM

Haha get a friend who has done it for their phone already to show you the steps. It's not that difficult after you've done it the first time. The most important part of rooting is having the driver installed and working properly. After that you just really following those on screen instructions.

Weird thing happened to me this morning. I plugged my phone into my Macbook last night to charge and then when I woke up, I had all the apps from my Transformer TF101 installed on my Galaxy Nexus. Even apps that aren't available for the phone. It even had SuperUser installed and I didnt root it at all.

I don't remember running any backup software on my Macbook nor do I know of one available. Is there anyways I can track this down to see how it happened? It's pretty cool but at the same time really strange lol.

J-force 03-20-2012 11:53 AM

when you buy an android, these two extras are worth the money

GNex Toolkit installs drivers and does pretty much everything you need it to.

After you pop your flashing cherry, everything is a lot simpler. Updates are just one step (flash .zip from recovery) and new roms are just three (backup apps using Titanium Backup, wipe /data and /system, and then flash .zip from recovery). Troubleshooting is also as simple, pretty much everything can be fixed with a wipe and a reflash lol

Your Google account, if you're sharing it between devices, would automatically restore apps, data and settings if you chose to have one device backing up the info to your google account, and the other set to automatically restore data.

Dat ASS. But B28 is actually quite smoother than M4, wasn't sure what caused the slowdown on M4 and it was quite noticeable, but after wipe and flashing B28 it's a lot more responsive. M4 also started bugging out on me (force closes during boot animation and quick torch would self-trigger and unable to turn off).

Didn't see enough of a difference in battery life to warrant using Slim ICS but it's great to see a light rom in development :)

Even if it's not a tablet it would load all the tablet apps I've downloaded? It even has the ASUS only apps as well.

For those of you who still aren't on the Galaxy Nexus yet, daily steals is selling it for $464.98 with shipping included. That's about $10 more than Craigslist at the moment but it's brand new! The site is legit and Android Central vouched for it.
